Skyrim - Call of the Moon (walkthrough). TES V: Skyrim - Call of the Moon Hircine's Ring Doesn't Work

The lord of the hunt has dropped his ring again for that mortal who is ready to accept his bestial nature. Hircine's Ring is featured in almost all TES games. This is a fairly powerful artifact for a character who is sick with lycanthropy, regardless of whether the hero completed the Companions quest or not. At the same time, many beginners bypass this quest, unknowingly, although it is quite interesting and entertaining. If the player only cares about how to get the Hircine ring, then it is enough to follow a simple walkthrough.

The beginning of the quest and acquaintance with the main characters

When the player enters Falkreath for the first time, he should look at the local cemetery. There will be a mourning ceremony over the body of a little girl who was allegedly torn to pieces by a newly arrived resident - Sinding. Togo is kept in prison, and you can get into the casemates from the guard barracks.

The killer sits knee-deep in water, in a well, and fully admits his guilt, since he is unable to control the curse of the werewolf. He hoped to deal with the werewolf through Hircine's ring, but the Daedric prince decided otherwise and cursed the artifact.

Sinding gives the item to the player, after which he turns into a beast and escapes from prison. Now the artifact will automatically be put on the player's finger, and if he already has an active curse of lycanthropy, then the city should be left as quickly as possible.

It is not difficult to find Hircine himself in the form of a white deer. It is enough to follow to the "Drowned Man's Grotto" on the map or move there directly if the location is already open. There the hero will face the first party of hunters, one of whom will tell about the attack of the werewolf. After going a little further, the Dragonborn will meet Sinding. Next, you need to choose 2 options:

  • kill a prisoner;
  • help him destroy the hunters, fans of Hircine.

Oddly enough, it won't be easy to kill Sinding. But, like the rest of the lycanthropes, he does not tolerate fire magic, and the silver blade from the Companions quest will also be very useful. It is easier to kill hunters - their groups are scattered across the location. Directly Hircine himself wishes the werewolf's death, but he will forgive the hero's willfulness if he interrupts the fans.

Quest reward

If you destroy all the hunters, then upon exiting the grotto, Hircine will appear in the form of a deer in front of the player, show him his pleasure in hunting and remove the curse from the artifact. If the Dragonborn chose to kill Sinding, then he will get the "Savior's Skin" breastplate, which reflects magic and poison. The choice, as always, is up to the player who owns the Hircine ring.

Skyrim is rich in such "famous artifacts" that can be removed in the end. Without a curse, he gives the player the ability to take the guise of a werewolf twice a day, regardless of the time of day. Like most Daedric quests, Call of the Moon is highly controversial. Possessing a remarkable sense of humor, Hircine decided to deprive his fans of the main "trump card" in front of the guise of the beast, taking the award that long ago bestowed upon the agent of blades from the 2nd part of the TES series.

By its value, the "Savior's Skin" is much more profitable. This armor is not so heavy and is perfect for battles with magicians, of which there are a considerable number in the game.

Mod adds new options for passing the quest Call of the Moon... Sinding can now be rid of lycanthropy, allowing him to return to normal life. He now has a place of residence (in Morthal) and history, and after the quest you can take him with you as a companion (an independent companion who does not get confused once again under your feet). Marriage with him also becomes possible. Added werewolf books from other TES games to Sinding's House.

During the passage you can get:
- Exile's Ring(bonuses to stealth, health regeneration and cold resistance).
- Watcher's Dagger(additional damage to undead and daedra).
- There are three types of armor to choose from:
Trapper Armor(bonus to bow damage, silence and stealth)
Hound Armor(increases movement speed by 50%, bonuses to stock and recuperation)
Hockybeg's Armor(bonuses to stock and health recovery, damage without weapons increases).

If your character is a Harbinger and you have the head of a Glenmoril witch in your inventory, the dialogue about the ritual will be available before the start of the Call of the Moon quest, when Sinding is still in Falkreath prison. An option for passing that does not need a patch. Do not start a dialogue with the parents of the deceased girl (otherwise you will feel compassion, start the quest in doubts, and you will also have to kill the hunters - there are continuous extra victims). Just go straight to jail, listen to the story of the poor werewolf and offer help. Having escaped from there, he will head to the Tomb of Ysgamor and will be waiting for you there. The Call of the Moon quest will not start, but do not be afraid - you now have a new task and a more substantial reward awaits you ahead.

If your character has become a Harbinger, there is a witch's head in your inventory and you sided with the werewolf in the Drowned Man's Grotto - take the Ring from Hircine and return to Sinding. Give him the ring and send him to Ysgamor's tomb.

If your character has not yet become a Harbinger, but during the Call of the Moon quest you saved Sinding's life (before or after connecting the mod, it doesn't matter) - you can give Sinding Hircine's ring so that he can regain his normal appearance and go home to Morthal ... And after completing the main quest line of Companions - take the witch's head with you, find Sinding in Morthal and talk about how to rid him of lycanthropy once and for all.

After completing the Ritual - talk to Sinding. If he came to the Tomb from the Drowned Grotto or from Morthal, he will give you the reward and the blessed ring of Hircine. Well, if you went to the Tomb straight from the Falkreath prison, first you will receive a reward from Sinding, and after that you can talk about him giving you the cursed ring.

After receiving the ring, a journal entry will appear in your journal about how to fight the Aspect of Hircine. Kill the Mighty Bear, get his skin and the blessed ring of Hircine (if you still have the cursed ring in your inventory at that time).

What to do with the hide of the Mighty Bear? Make your own armor out of it. In any forge, in the Leather section. Armor options: Armor of the Hunter, Hound, and Hrokkiebeg.

The house is located on the outskirts of Morthal. At the time of the start, this is an abandoned shack with an extinguished hearth, cobwebs in the corners and a spiteful rat under the bed. You will have to break the lock on the door, you will not get into the basement, there is nothing to profit from, although you can already use some containers to safely store your belongings. Please note - all non-renewable containers have the prefix "for storage" in their names.
The location will take on a residential look after you give Sinding the Hircine ring and send him home. Or after the ritual, if Sinding comes to the tomb from Falkreath or the Grotto. You will receive a key to the house and the right to take any items in it.

By the way, keep in mind that Sinding will not hang around the house without getting out. He can pop into a tavern, or take a walk in the surrounding area.

Requirements: Skyrim. An unofficial patch is welcomed to avoid bugs in the base quest.

Removal: standard. But remember that when you delete a mod in the process of completing quests related to Sinding, there is a possibility that it will completely disappear from the game, and Hircine's ring will also disappear if you turn off the mod while it is at Sinding's. Other overlays are possible, as the original questline has undergone significant changes at the script level. If you do not like the mod, turn it off and continue the game with a clean save (I already wrote about the fact that it is recommended to create it).

This mod is my variation of the developers' intentions found in the Call of the Moon quest files. This is due to the remaining unfinished (or rather, stripped-down) quest of Sinding in the Glenmoril coven, there are exactly five sorcerers, although in the game at the time of release, only four have applications. And the meeting with Hircine was not planned by the developers alone. It is possible and most likely that they saw some other option for completing the quest, but in fact I
- I tried to think it out for them based on what is in the game)) I hope Sinding will come in handy as a companion or just a friend to whom Dovahkiin can look for a cup of mead and wait out the bad weather, at the same time dumping excess belongings in his house.
If something is wrong somewhere: remember that this version is Beta, and the original quest is an exemplary bagodrome of all Skyrim. So - we do not faint, but calmly and preferably politely inform me about what and where did not go wrong with you, so that it can be taken into account and eliminated before the release of the final version.

At Falkreath Cemetery, you will meet Runil, the priest of Arkay, who will tell you about a family of farmers who have lost their daughter. Farmer Mathies can be found at the grave of his recently brutally murdered daughter. It turns out that a werewolf visited Falkreath and, before being caught, tore a little girl apart. Ultimately, you must visit the "butcher" himself, awaiting fate in a prison cell.

Sinding - that is his name - regrets what he did, and says that the ring of Hircine, which he foolishly stole, is to blame for everything. Sinding believed that the ring would help him control his lycanthropic ailment, but instead, the transformations became spontaneous altogether. The ring has brought the curse of the Daedric prince Hircine on him, which Sinding offers you to help him remove. Well, if you want to add new artifacts to your piggy bank, agree. Instead with the ring of Hircine, you will receive instructions on what to do to summon the Daedric prince. And Sinding, meanwhile, turns into a werewolf and runs away.

You must go to the forest and kill the "monster" - a beautiful white deer. It will not be difficult to find it, a marker will help you with this. As soon as the deer falls, the incarnation of the Daedric prince Hircine will appear, who will praise you for this and offer to join the hunt for Sinding in the Drowned Grotto.

Arriving at the designated place, you will meet a wounded Khajiit, who will confirm Hirsin's words and wish you good luck in your further hunt. Going a little further, you will meet Sinding himself, who will try to lure you over to his side. There are two options here.

Side with Sinding and kill the hunters.

The werewolf will be weaker than opponents, and he will need your help. After a bloody massacre, as a result of which every one of the hunters will be killed, you will receive, which will allow the werewolf character to have one additional transformation per day, an ally of Sinding, who can sometimes appear during your battles, as well as an invisible blessing of Hircine, which increases random characteristics (such as critical strike) when fighting animals.

Take the side of the hunters and destroy Sinding.

Werewolf hunters will be weaker than Sinding. You need to help them drive and eliminate the lycanthrope by taking his skin. After that, the pleased Hircine will turn it into - one of the legendary artifacts of Tamriel, which gives the wearer resistance to magic and poisons.

Obtain both the Savior's Skin Breastplate and Hircine's Ring.

There is also such an option. To do this, you must side with the werewolf, and then return to the cave and finish off Sinding. Remove the skin from him and contact the Hircine who appears, after which he, as if nothing had happened, will hand you the second artifact.

Bug or feature? Of course a bug. Possibly already fixed in the unofficial patch for Skyrim.

In the Skyrim game world, Hircine is one of the Daedric Princes. He is the patron saint of hunting, pursuit, sports and has various mystical abilities. Dovahkiin during his adventures can not only see Hircin with his own eyes, but also get hold of a couple of his powerful artifacts. But first things first.

History

Unfortunately, no mention of Hircine has survived from the early history of Nirn. For this reason, some scholars consider him not a purebred Daedra, but a so-called offspring. However, this opinion is often neglected, since Hircine created lycanthropy, which, in turn, has been raging for thousands of years.

Periodically, this Daedric Prince appears in the mortal world. However, unlike most of his brethren, he does not try to destroy all living things, but only conducts the Great Hunt. It is on such a day that Hircine releases his hounds, whose target can be either one person or a whole tribe. Once the victim dies, the Great Hunt ends until the next cycle.

In Skyrim, Hircine was worshiped by the witches of the Glenmorein Coven. Thanks to the special favor of the Daedra, they, unlike lycanthropes, could take on animal form at will. At the same time, witches were able to transform not only into werewolves, but also ordinary animals.

Like many other Daedra, Hircine left several of his artifacts in the mortal world. They will be discussed below.

An extremely powerful Daedric artifact. First of all, it will be useful for those people who suffer from lycanthropy, as it allows you to make transformations controlled. In other words, the owner of the ring is free to choose when to become a werewolf, which automatically turns him into a dangerous opponent even for an experienced warrior. In addition, the artifact gives its owner longevity.

In Skyrim, Hircine's Ring can be obtained in one of the endings of the Call of the Moon quest. According to the plot, the artifact was cursed, and Dovahkiin, accordingly, will have to disenchant him. By doing this, you can either keep the ring for yourself, or earn another reward.

Savior's Skin

And here is the second of the possible rewards for the "Call of the Moon" quest. It is a light armor that gives its owner 26 points of protection against physical damage, and also increases resistance to magic by 15% and to poison by 50%.

If desired, the Savior's Skin, like any other armor, can be improved at the workbench. For this you need only one skin, and various skills of "Blacksmithing" and the corresponding alchemical potions will help to increase the effect of the upgrade several times. Please note that you will not be able to remove the enchantment from the artifact with the help of the Pentagram of Souls.

Totems

These are special items that give the werewolf who owns them additional abilities. So, these artifacts allow:

  • Summon two wolves as allies.
  • Highlight all living creatures (the ability is active for one minute).
  • Scare away enemies below level 25.

Of course, all of these abilities can only be used in werewolf form, and if cured of lycanthropy, they will become inaccessible. In Skyrim, Hircine's Totems can be found during the quest of the same name. True, to obtain it, you will have to complete the full chain of Companions' quests.

"Call of the Moon"

Now is the time to move on to the so-called quests of Hircine in Skyrim. Rather, to those tasks that are somehow connected with this Daedric Prince. The first is called "Call of the Moon" and is as follows:

  • Dovahkiin needs to go to Falkreath and talk there with Mathes, who will tell about the murderer of his daughter.
  • Sinding will be the culprit. He, in turn, will tell the hero about the cursed Ring of Hircine, which turned him into a werewolf.

  • Next, Dovkin needs to track down a white deer in the vicinity of the city and then kill him. In place of the fallen animal, Hircine himself will appear and order the hero to punish Sinding. That is, to kill the latter.

Now you will have a choice: to finish off Sinding or take pity on the poor fellow. In the first case, you will receive the Skin of the Savior, and in the second, you can keep the Ring of Hircine for yourself (with the curse removed). Regardless of your preference, the task will be completed.

"Totems of Hircine"

The second quest related to the Daedric Prince. "Totems of Hircine" in "Skyrim" is the final task of the Companions, the essence of which is to search for artifacts of the same name. It is performed as follows:

  • Chat with Eila.
  • Travel to a random dungeon that will be marked on your map. Clear it and take the Totem.
  • Take the artifact to the Lower Forge (it must be placed on a pedestal).

There are three such Totems in total, which means that you need to complete the task three times to unlock all the additional abilities for the werewolf form.

Notes (edit)

Of course, Daedric Princes and related artifacts are found not only in Skyrim. Hircine, for example, managed to "light up" in such parts of the "Elder Scrolls" as "Moroovind" and "Oblivion". There you can get two of his spears, as well as the previously mentioned ring and the Skin of the Savior.

In addition, there are several artifacts that cannot be obtained in any of the games in the series, but you can read about them in books or descriptions of other items.

Conditions: level 10 or higher.
Reward: Ring of Hircine or
The Savior's Skin.

The task is taken in Falkreath, in the cemetery where the father of his tragically deceased daughter grieves, also accepting cabbage for sale. We listen to his story, and he talks about someone named Sinding, about the person currently in prison. The task we need appears: Call of the Moon.

We are heading to the prison, it is in the barracks.

We go along the quest marker and go downstairs. We go to the left and see: our killer is grieving.

We speak with him, he tells us that he stole Hircin's ring, and the latter cursed the ring for such a betrayal. Oh yeah, I completely forgot, Sinding breaks up and confesses: he is a werewolf. Hircine's ring will do nothing for you if you are not a werewolf. If you are still hurt by the curse of the Daedric lord of the hunt, then it will accidentally turn you into a huge dog.

In any case, we will have to kill the monster in which Hircine is hiding.

Along the way (if you are walking from Falkreath) you will see a small ambush of two bandits, with bows, of course.

We sneak up on a monster, which, by the way, is not a bit of a monster. This is a white deer. What fool called this animal a monster? Well, in general, not the point, we kill the deer and see in front of us his spirit, which is the embodiment of Hircine.

We ask him to clear this ring, and with intricate words he tells us a simple truth - nothing happens for free and sends us to the Drowned Man's Grotto.

* It would be nice to visit the Drowned Man's Grotto before this quest. Why? There lies Bolar's blade to scare away and a note from Bolar, they say, I am the last one who defended the Temple of the Lord of the Clouds (the same one from TES: 4 Oblivion) and the Thalmor are following me, I am going to my death. And a hint that if you find this blade, cut the Thalmor with it!

We leave for this Grotto.

We go in and see Sinding standing on the hill and wondering: what have we forgotten here?

Option one

We agree with Hircine and go to chop Sinding together with other hunters. As a reward, we receive the Savior's skin, according to legend Hircin took it off himself.

Option two

We disagree with Hircine and go to help Sinding in the hunt for the hunters, thereby arranging a hunt for them. Hunting hunters, nice, isn't it? As a reward, we get a refined Hircine's Ring, which allows you to transform into a Hairy Dog twice a day, instead of one.

Artifacts:

Bug: If you want to get two artifacts at once, you can use this bug. It lies in the fact that after killing all the hunters and obtaining the ring of Hircine, we can return to the Grotto and kill Sinding. After that, you need to skin his skin so that Hircin would appear. He will appear and, as if he just did not give us a ring, he will give us the Skin of the Savior.
