Blue dc lantern. Gray indifference. - a DC Comics fanfic fanfiction The Blue Lantern Corps Oath

Lanterns | Strength, faction, oath, corps description.

Source of Strength: will.
Faction: Green Lantern Corps.
Oath:

“In the darkness of the night, in the light of day,
Evil cannot hide from me.
Those evil thoughts in whom reign,
Beware of the light of the Lantern! "

Are under the control of the Guardians of the Universe; immortal, based on the planet Oa. The corps has existed for three billion years, during which it has undergone both internal and external conflicts. Consists of over 7,200 members spread over 3,600 sectors. Each member of the Corps possesses a ring of power, which provides almost limitless possibilities, limited only by the wearer's imagination.

Source of Power: anger and rage.
Faction: Red Light Corps.
Oath:

“We will take the blood of the dead,
And we will light a fire of rage,
So with our hatred from now on,
Death will be your fate! "

The weapon of the Red Lantern Corps is a red ring of power that is fueled by anger and rage. The owners of the red rings are dependent on them, except for Atrocitus, as they cannot cope with their power. The red energy of the ring is similar to the green energy of the rings in the Green Lantern Corps. But only those who have strong willpower capable of resisting the ring are able to create objects with it; usually, red energy spills out from the ring or from the owner's mouth in the form of a flame, piercing any enemy defense. But the Red Corps also has a weakness against the combined forces of the Blue and Green Corps. Blue light, symbolizing hope, is able to extinguish the red flame of rage.

Source of Strength: fear and despair.
Faction: Sinestro Corps.
Oath:

“And on a bright night, and on a rainy day,
Fear will come out into the light, leaving the shadow.
Whoever got in the way will disappear away,
It will burn, knowing ... Sinestro power!

The Corps members' weapons are yellow rings of power that are fueled by fear. They were forged on the Kward plan after Sinestro was imprisoned in the Central Power Battery along with Parallax. The rings have no weaknesses, but earlier, before the construction of the Yellow Power Batter on Kward, they could only be recharged in the battle with the Green Lantern Corps.

Source of Strength: Hope.
Faction: Blue Lantern Corps.
Oath:

“And even at the worst hour,
Burns, flickering flame in us,
In the war for light, everything will be lost
But the ray of Hope will not die! "

All Corps members have a blue ring of power that is energized by hope. The Blue Lantern Corps is the strongest in existence, but only on one condition - there must be at least one Green Lantern near them. "Without willpower, hope is nothing." Without the Green Lanterns, the power of the Blue Lanterns is only enough for flight and a protective field. Possessing power next to the Green Lanterns, Blue Lanterns are able to heal wounds, neutralize the energy of the red rings, and the charge of the Green Lantern that supports them increases many times, while the Sinestro Corps rings are quickly discharged. There were the same non-specific functions of the rings: for example, Saint Walker was able to reduce the age of the dying sun by 8.5 billion years with the help of the ring thanks to the hope of the inhabitants of the planets to whom it shone. Blue rings can also instill in others visions or illusions that are previously built in the imagination of the owner of the ring.

Source of Power: love.
Faction: Star Sapphires.
Oath:

“Heart is broken, silence is all around,
It seems like you're alone in the night
The ring will flash with pink light again
Know everything - love rules the world! "

The purple ring is associated with the heart of its owner and has properties similar to those of the rings of power of the other Corps. With the help of it it was possible to fly, create protective structures, shields. In addition, the ring has distinctive features - it is able to determine the place where "love is in danger" and deliver there the owner. They are not vulnerable to any other Corps of the Emotional Spectrum, but the ring strongly influences the mind of its owners, gives them little freedom and in this regard is a certain weakness of the Sapphires. Among other things, the Sapphire crystal is able to show "true love", but how much this corresponds to reality is still unknown. The Ring of Sapphires is capable of creating crystals capable of taking possession of members of other Corps. After spending sufficient time under his rule, the prisoner becomes one of the Star Sapphires and can act on behalf of their Corps.

Source of Power: life.
Faction: White Lantern Corps.
Oath:

“Our light burns inside the rings,
Our light burns inside our hearts.
We tear the canopy of darkness
We light the way far away.
Nothing is brighter and brighter
Than the light from the White Lanterns! "

Each White Lantern receives at its disposal white energy from a white ring of power, which is nourished by life. The incarnation of the Corps' power, the Entity, which is described as "godlike", showed Sinestro that the black energy of the Black Lanterns could be eradicated with the help of white energy. The owners of the rings are immortal and are able to survive even if they receive a fatal wound, which they can heal in a few minutes; in addition, the ring possesses all the standard powers, like the rings of other Corps: flight, protective shield. When Hal Jordan received the ring, he was able to use it to create additional rings, restoring those killed by Necron.

Source of Power: death.
Faction: Black Lantern Corps.
Oath:

“Let darkness fall on us from heaven ...
The light is dying, the night is coming ...
And with my black hand,
We will disturb the rest of the dead! "

Black Lanterns are able to resurrect the dead with the help of black rings of power, which are fed from death. They were resurrected to the state in which they were at the time of death. Black rings are capable of healing fatal injuries inflicted by their users (even decapitation and dissolution). The first black rings did not require recharging, however, each time the Black Lantern killed someone and removed their heart, the power of each ring in the Corps increased by 0.01%. Even with a low ring charge, Black Lanterns can use them to create various structures of black energy, as well as they are not exposed to magic. The bite of the Black Lantern triggers a necrosis process in the body of the bitten one and ultimately transforms the victim into a Black Lantern. It is unknown if this affects all creatures, or only those who were resurrected earlier (Superman, Green Arrow, Donna Troy). Black Lanterns are vulnerable to white and the combined power of Green Corps and anyone else. Once the black ring is destroyed, the revived corpse becomes inactive.

Source of Power: Compassion.
Faction: Indigo Tribe.
Oath:

"Tor lorek san, bor nakka mur,
Natromo faan tornek wot ur,
Ter lantern ker lo Abin Sur,
Taan lek lek nok - Formorrow Sur! "

The Indigo Tribe harnesses the power of the blue power spectrum, which is fueled by compassion. In an interview, creator Jeff Jones said of the Tribe, "I was very careful about the concept of the Indigo Tribe because they are not what everyone expects and act differently than everyone expects." Indigos have the same basic abilities as other corps - flight, a protective shield, the ability to create energy structures, in addition, they are empaths, able to adopt and use the power of other colors of the emotional spectrum for a short period of time, they call this "empathy" for them, and are also capable of instilling compassion in others. Members of the Tribe are able to teleport to any point in the universe, but this requires a large amount of ring energy and is used on rare occasions. During Darkest Night, the Indigos often combined their powers with those of the other Corps to increase their size. It was later revealed that Indigos are incapable of experiencing any emotions other than compassion, and then only when they are in contact with the ring of power.

Source of Strength: Greed.
Faction: Agent Orange, also known as Larfleeze (The Only Orange Lantern).
Oath:

"What is mine is mine
Both mine and mine
And mine, and mine, and mine!
Not yours!"

As the only possessor of all the power of the orange spectrum of greed, Larfleeze is able to withstand even the Guardians of the Universe on equal terms. All creatures killed and absorbed by him become members of his Corps in the form of projections from orange light. However, his power does not work against the blue color of the Blue Lantern Corps. His abilities are similar to those of other Corps: flying, creating protective shields, various structures, as well as projections. A distinctive ability of the Orange Agent is that he is able to absorb his victims and create their projections, thereby adding them to his Corps. It can absorb any Lantern or anyone else with power, but it cannot do the same with Blue and Purple Lanterns. Larfleeze's strength increases as he is constantly in contact with his Power Battery. As a result, he can control the projections of the entire Corpus and his own, even if he is far from them.

Blue Lantern Corps (Blue lantern corps) is an organization that appears in the universe. The Blue Lantern Corps was first introduced in a comic called Green lantern vol. 4 # 25 (December 2007), and was created by writer Jeff Jones and artist Ethan Van Skiver. Their strengths are similar to other organizations based on the emotional spectrum, drawing their strength from the emotions of hope.

The Blue Lantern Corps is one of nine corps that correspond to a specific color on the emotional spectrum within the DC Universe. They began to play an increasingly important role in stories about Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps as major contributors to the events of Blackest Night. The corps was founded by Ganthet and Sade, who were exiled from the Guardians. The Blue Lantern Corps is based on the planet Odim (later Elpis), and their power is fueled by the emotions of hope.

Biography

The Blue Lantern Corps appears during the storyline. Sinestro Corps War... During the first half of the events, Ganthet and Sade acknowledge the prophecy of Blackest Night, causing a rift between them and the other Guardians. And due to the fact that they succumbed to emotions, as well as the love they have for each other, the Guardians banish Ganthet and Sade with.

Two issues after their banishment, Ganthet reveals the prophecy of Blackest Night to the Green Lanterns, including Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Reiner. In his story, he says that: "somewhere in the distance, a glimmer of hope will shine from deep space, like a beacon warning ships about rocks. The Blue Light will support, if not strength, then the fortress of the spirit." At the end of the episode, it is revealed that Ganthet and Sade have settled on one of the planet (which will later be named Odem), where they have created the Blue Ring of Power and intend to form their own corps.

Rage of the Red Lanterns

In the Fury of the Red Lanterns storyline, Ganthet and Sade have finally introduced the Blue Lanterns. When the Green Lantern Corps is ambushed while trying to kidnap Sinestro, who was in Green Lantern custody. During the battle between the Red and Green Lanterns, just in time the first Blue Lantern, Saint Walker, appears and rescues the Green Lanterns. Saint Walker from Space Sector 1, rescues Hal Jordan using his Blue Ring of Power, he heals Jordan's wounds, who was injured during the attack. He also uses his ring to rid John Stewart of the Red Flame of Wrath lurking within him. Then Saint Walker takes Jordan with him to the planet Odem, which is the home of the Blue Lanterns. On the way there, Hal notices that his ring is running at 210.5 percent, simply because it is in close proximity to Walker, which shows one of the features of the Blue Rings. Upon arriving on Odem, Hal is introduced to the second Blue Lantern, Brother Warth, and then appears before Corpus founders, Ganthet and Sade. They ask Jordan to travel with Walker and Worth to rescue (Sinestro) from the hands of the Red Lanterns, saying that Sinestro is needed in the imminent and imminent War of Light.

Hal reluctantly agrees, and he travels with Worth and Walker to the planet Ysmault, home of the Red Lanterns. Along the way, Walker tries to convince Hal to join the Blue Lantern Corps as their leader. Jordan does not agree to this offer and says that he is not interested in leaving his Corps. But it looks like Walker has other plans and tells Worth that they need to make Jordan the Blue Lantern. Upon their arrival, Hal discovers Sinestro in captivity, tries to free him, but is immediately ambushed by Atrocitus and his Red Lanterns. Meanwhile, the Sinestro Corps appears and has arrived to free its leader, thus turning a small skirmish into a large-scale battle. Using the Blue Light of Hope to extinguish the Red Fire of Rage, Worth and Walker engage in combat.

In the midst of the battle, Hal discovers Leira, a former member of the Green Lantern Corps, believed to be lost in (Parallax). Horrified to discover that she has become a Red Lantern, Hal desperately tries to reason with her and convince Laira to give up the ring. Sinestro, impatient with Hal's compassion, takes matters into his own hands and uses his ring to kill Leira. Since Hal already has a strong hatred for Sinestro, and killing Leira increases her even more. Hal's anger is so intense that Laira's Red Ring immediately chooses Hal as her replacement. Atrocitus, founder and leader of the Red Lantern Corps, welcomes Hal into the ranks of the Red Lanterns. Hal's transformation leaves Worth and Walker powerless, exposing Atrocitus to the weakness of the Blue Lantern Corps. The Blue Ring is almost powerless without an active member of the Green Lantern Corps in the vicinity of the Blue Lantern.

Knowing that Jordan's only chance to shake off the all-consuming rage is the Blue Light of Hope, Walker puts his ring on Hal's arm. After a bright flash, Hal's Red Ring was destroyed by the healing light of hope. Jordan, empowered by the Blue and Green Lantern Corps, quickly deals with the Red Lanterns, while the Sinestr Corps leaves with their leader.

Despite the fact that this led to his rescue, Hal is extremely angry at Walker for forcibly making him a member of the Blue Lantern Corps, saying, "Hope is not interesting to me." Walker, upset by Hal's refusal to accept his new ring, and his inability to recognize the power of hope. During his return to Odim, Jordan tries to remove the Blue Ring from himself, but fails. Back on Odim, to Hal's surprise, none of the former Guardians can remove the ring from him. Seeing no reason to stay on Odima, Hal decides to leave the planet. Before his departure, Sade tells him that the ring will be removed as soon as he exhausts its power, after which it will go to the one who believes in the Brightest Day. After Jordan leaves, Worth and Walker set out to find recruits to expand the Corps and find the Indigo Light, as Ganthet hopes that compassion and hope must work together.

Orange Agent

Later, Hal meets the Orange Agent who controls the Orange Light of Greed. Larfleeze, aka Agent Orange, notices Hal's Blue Ring and says he wants it. Hal explained that he could not take it off, after which Larfleeze cuts off Hal's hand on which the ring is located. It was later shown that it was in fact an illusion created by the ring. Hal fights Larfleeze and the Blue Ring keeps asking him what he hopes for. Hal replies that he hopes that it will stop asking him this question.

The ring recognizes the sincerity in the voice of the Green Lantern, after which, it fully charges the rings of the Green Lantern Corps. Having exhausted enough, the ring is removed from Jordan's finger and quickly flies away to find a worthy successor from sector 2814, under the control of Hal Jordan. Meanwhile, the Guardians understand that they will have to settle the conflict with Larfleeze and they enter into negotiations with him.

Once everything was settled, Hal asked what Larfleeze had asked for, but the Guardians replied that it was none of his business. In fact, Larfleeze wanted to know the location of the Blue Lantern Corps and the Guardians told him that their base was located on the planet Odim. Larfleeze then assembles his Orange Lantern Corps and travels to Odim, where he encounters the Blue Lanterns, which consists of Ganthet, Sade, St. Walker, Worth and two new members, Brother Hamn and Sister Sersi.

Darkest night

During the Blue Lanterns' fight against Larfleeze, several Black Power Rings fly to Odim. However, they failed to find the bodies of the dead on the surface of the planet, after which the rings fly up in the sky, in anticipation of death. The battle continues, and in the meantime, Hal Jordan arrives on the planet. Influenced by Jordan's Green Ring, the Blue Lantern rings are charged with Jordan's willpower and are now able to withstand Larfleeze's onslaught. Suddenly, the projections of the Orange Lanterns disappear as Larfleeze was attacked by the living corpses of his own Orange Lanterns, who are now members of the Black Lantern Corps.

Jordan, Sinestro, Carol Ferris, and Indigo arrived on Odim during the conflict to ask Saint Walker to help them create a white light, which consists of seven colors of the emotional spectrum, that will help them defeat them.

Saint Walker, Ganthet, and Sade join Jordan and Indigo's team and go with them to recruit Larfleeze and Atrocitus. Despite being rescued from the Black Lanterns, Larfleeze does not want to join their team due to the nature of his power and wants to get his own Guardian. In order for Larfleeze to agree to join them, Sade offered him to become his slave in exchange for his consent. Atrocitus also did not want to help them, and because of his rage, he attacked Jordan and Sinestro. To appease Atrocitus, Saint Walker showed him an illusion in which he and a woman of his kind were happy, inviting him to join the Blue Lantern Corps. However, when illusion alone is not enough, Saint Walker convinces Red Lantern to join them, revealing the story of how his family died in an attempt to save his world. Atrocytus joined the team and they traveled to Earth.

On Earth, Ganthet activated the ring to find more members for the Lantern Corps. Ganttet was accepted into the Green Lantern Corps, while (Barry Allen) became a member of the Blue Lantern Corps. After Blackest Night, Saint Walker is seen in the graveyard examining the desecrated tombstones, while Ganthet and Sade are no longer the Guardians of the Blue Light.

The Blue Lantern Corps Oath

To charge his ring, the Blue Lantern must take an oath:

On a terrible day, in a fierce hour
Burns, flickering, the flame in us,
In the war for light, everything will be lost
But the ray of Hope will not die!

Capabilities

All Blue Lanterns wield the Blue Ring of Power, which is fueled by the emotions of hope. Hope is the most powerful of the seven emotional spectors. However, in order to use the full power of their rings, the Blue Lanterns must be near the Green Lantern, since without willpower, hope is nothing. Otherwise, the rings only grant their owners the ability to fly and create a protective field. The protective field of the Blue Lanterns allows them to be without harm to themselves in outer space and other environment not suitable for life and can, to a limited extent (even without the Green Lantern), use it to increase the level of their strength or increase the shield, but this ability is extremely protective ...

By being close to the power of the Green Ring, the Blue Rings will be endowed with the same abilities that the Green Rings have, as well as other unique abilities of the Blue Ring will be activated. Blue Lanterns will be able to heal wounds and regenerate lost body parts. The ring of power can be replenished with the hope of other living beings, for example, St. Walker and Worth were able to reduce the age of the dying sun by 8.6 billion years thanks to the hope that came from the inhabitants of the neighboring planet. In addition, the Blue Ring can neutralize the actions of the Red Rings, block the Orange Ring's ability to steal energy and absorb the energy of the Yellow Rings. It has been shown that the Blue Ring can charge any other ring.

Guardians

The Guardians of the Universe are one of several races that arose on the planet Malthus, one of the first groups of intelligent beings in the Universe. Outwardly, they looked like grayish-blue, short creatures with black hair. They were scientists, thinkers, they studied the Universe and experimented. In one such experiment, billions of years ago, a Malthusian named Cronus was able to observe a process similar to what happened during the birth of the universe. This experiment got out of control, as a result of the splits of the Universe and created another, opposite to ours - the Universe of Antimatter (planet Kward). Blaming themselves for what happened, the Malthusians went to the planet Oa, to the center of the universe and became the guardians of the universe, creating the Green Lantern Corps. Much later, they split into two groups - the Guardians of the Universe proper, who intended to contain evil, and Controllers, who wanted to destroy evil, and the Controllers left the planet Oa. The female part of the Malthusians split from the male and became a race of female warriors, known as the Zamaronki.

Bounty Hunters and Riot Sector 666

In their first attempt to protect the universe from threats and maintain order, the Guardians of the Universe created a legion of robots to act as intergalactic police and named them Bounty Hunters. For billions of years, they did their job until they rebelled against the Guardians, accusing them of restricting their rights and slavery. The uprising turned into a thousand-year war, culminating in the attack on the planet Oa, but the Guardians managed to defeat them, deprived of their power and sent to the outskirts of the Universe, where the surviving robots decided to build a new order in the Universe in their own way and often interfered and thwarted the plans of the Guardians of the Universe. ...

In series Green Lantern: Secret Origins it turns out that the Bounty Hunters' scheme of work had a logical failure, as a result of which they decided that order in the universe can only be achieved through the complete destruction of life. They staged a massacre in sector 666, destroying millions of living creatures, only five of them survived and joined the Hunters, forming a group they called the "Fifth Inveria" ("Five Survivors", "Five Converts"). Their goal was to take revenge on the Guardians. The five were later imprisoned on the prison planet Ismolt, and one of them, Atrocitus, became the leader of the Red Lantern Corps.

Several years after the Bounty Hunters were defeated after an organized cult of themselves throughout the Universe, during which they infiltrated planets and replaced their inhabitants with robots, they were found by Hank Henshaw - Cyborg Superman. He traveled to the planet Biot, sector 3601 - an area not covered by the Green Lantern Corps - and became their leader. He used Krypton technology to upgrade robots. And Later they joined the Sinestro Corps after Hank Henshaw.

Corpus creation

After the Bounty Hunters' failure as intergalactic cops, the Guardians of the Universe decided to create a new corps of living beings with free will and strong moral character. For the new legion of defenders of the universe, the Guardians created rings using advanced technology that allowed their wearer to manipulate green energy and create any designs they could imagine.

Sinestro Corps

Due to severe casualties, the Guardians of the Universe rewrote the first of ten laws in the Book of Oa Laws, allowing the Green Lanterns to use weapons against the Sinestro Corps. Later, this law was expanded to include all enemies of the Green Lanterns, however, it was forbidden to kill unarmed enemies, which subsequently saved the life of Amon Suru.

Darkest night

The narrative of the storyline "Darkest Night" (eng. The blackest night) is based on a prophecy from the Book of Oa, which says that seven colored buildings will be in a state of war with each other, which will subsequently destroy the universe.

Following the Sinestro Corps, Gatnett and Side were expelled from the Guardians. Realizing that the prophecy will come true, they create a blue ring that feeds on hope. The rest of the Guardians create Alpha Lanterns and rewrite laws in the hopes of preventing the prophecy from coming true. But during the foretold war, the traitors among the Guardians imprisoned those who remained, many were killed, and the Corps began to include only Guy Gardner, Kyle Rainer, and Salaak.

31st century

In the future, in the mini-series "Legion of Three Worlds" (eng. Legion of 3 worlds), it is shown that the planet Mogo has long been dead, and without it there is no possibility of the existence of rings of power and, thus, the Green Lantern Corps. Rond Vidar was the last Green Lantern until he was killed by the villainous Superboy Prime. Sodam Yat was the last remaining Guardian of the Universe and lived on the destroyed planet Oa. After aiding the Legion in the fight against Prime and his forces, Yat realizes that he can still revive the Corps and sends rings throughout the universe to recruit the Green Lanterns again.

Structure

3600 sectors

With a corps of more than 7,200 members, divided into 3,600 sectors, Earth, home of Hal Jordan and John Stewart, Kyle Rainer and Guy Gardner, is located in sector 2814 and, due to the sector's dense population, has several Green Lanterns. In the same sector is Ungara - the home planet of Abin Sura. It can be concluded that sector 2814 encompasses the solar system and slightly beyond. While all the main Lanterns in Sector 2814 call Earth home, they reside on the planet Oa, training Corps recruits there and doing things that are difficult for the average Green Lantern. The total number of members of the Corps also includes the so-called reserve, which are sometimes recruited for short-term service. The list of backup lights is not exactly known, it is known that John Stewart was not called up during the war with the Necron, despite its magnitude, unlike Guy Gardner, who was not medically suitable at the time.

The principles of guarding the entrusted sector are subject to general jurisdiction and the rules of the Corps, which all Green Lanterns must abide by, but in the event of abuse of authority, the Guardians consider all controversial issues in this regard. Lanterns can be replaced in case of old age or loss of health. In the event of the death of one of the Lanterns, his ring finds its own owner. An sentient planet named Mogo assists in this process, helping recruits and rings that are left without an owner. For this reason, Sinestro tried to destroy Mogo in order to obtain the rings. In rare cases, the Guardians of the Universe could pick up the owner of the ring.

Each recruit receives a ring and a flashlight to charge the ring, with a battery in the center from which it charges, and a suit. The appearance of the costume was initially the same for everyone, regardless of races: a green torso and shoulders, black arms and tights, white gloves, green boots, green masks covering part of the face, and a stylized Green Lantern sign in a white circle on the chest. In case it is impossible to put on the uniform, an alternative is provided. For example, the planet-Lantern Mogo is covered with green foliage. Jack T. Chance, a humanoid, refused to wear a uniform and only wore a badge on the lapel of his jacket. While on their home planets or out of service, the Green Lanterns were not allowed to wear a suit. The training of recruits on the planet Oa is optional, optional, in addition, senior Lanterns can be appointed by trainers and recruit new recruits in their sectors.

Planet Oa

The headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps is located on the planet Oa, in the center of the universe. Oa was destroyed when Hal Jordan became Parallax, but was later reconstructed by Jordan's friend Thomas Kalmaku. The planet is home to a large meeting room for the Guardians of the Universe, training buildings for recruits, prisons for criminals and the tombs of the deceased Lanterns. The main part of the planet is the Central Power Battery, the main storehouse of "green energy" that powers the rings. Also, the Battery was used as a prison for highly dangerous criminals such as Sinestro or Parallax. The Guardians created protective shields to enclose the planet, but they were destroyed in the lead-ups to the Blackest Night storyline.

Alpha Lanterns

After the war with the Sinestro Corps, the Guardians created a new unit called the Alpha Lanterns. Their willpower was combined with their rings of power and lanterns for charging, unlike the Green Lanterns, who controlled the ring themselves and were not one with it. Budikka, Variks, Kraken, Green Man agreed to become Alpha Lanterns. John Stewart was also asked to join, but he turned down the offer. The Alpha Lantern concept was invented by writer Grant Morrison.

The events of the Black Night storyline revealed that most of the Alpha Lanterns were recruited against their will. It was revealed that the Alpha Lantern Corps had been destroyed by Superboy Prime in order to lure the last remaining Guardian of the Universe, Ganset.

Although the Alpha Lanterns were a subsidiary of the Green Lanterns, they took an oath that was different from the general one:

“And on a peaceful day, and on a night of war Laws must be respected forever Those who create lawlessness Overtaken Alpha Lanterns "

Original text(English)

"In days of peace, in nights of war Obey the Laws forever more Misconduct must be answered for, Swear us the chosen: The Alpha Corps! "" "

Weapon

Oath

"In the darkness of the night, in the light of day Evil cannot hide from me. Those evil thoughts in whom reign Beware of the light of the Lantern! "

Original text(English)

« In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight Let those who worship evil "s might, Beware my power… Green Lantern "s light!»"

Hal Jordan

In the future, many Green Lanterns had their own vows. For example, in Swamp Thing # 61 Medfil, the Green Lantern of the planet J586, where the dominant form of life is living plants, pronounces his own oath:

"In the darkness of the forest silt in the fern glade Not a single blade of grass, where it belongs And may all those who rejected the light of day They step, but not where the light of the green lamp fell. "

Another famous and very peculiar oath is the Green Lantern Oath of Jack T. Chance:

“You, those who are evil, fierce and wretched, I'm the ugliest bastard you've ever seen! Come on here, let's all, start a fight I will blow your asses apart with the light of the Green Lantern! Yowza. »

Original text(English)

"You who are wicked, evil and mean I’m the nastiest creep you’ve ever seen! Come one, come all, put up a fight I’ll pound your butts with Green Lantern’s light!" Yowza. "" "

In the Legion of Three Worlds (English "Legion of 3 Worlds") Sodam Yat in the 31st century, as one of the last Green Lanterns, takes a new oath:

“On a bright day, through a dark night Other Corps will not shine their light! Let those who try to stop the truth They burn like my strength, like the light of the Green Lantern! "

Original text(English)

“In brightest day, through Blackest Night, No other Corps shall spread its light! Let those who try to stop what’s right, Burn like my power, Green Lantern’s Light! "" "

When Duck Dodgers becomes Green Lantern in the animated series of the same name, in the first part of the episode, he forgets the correct oath and composes a new version:

"On a black day or the brightest night Watermelon, melon, blah blah blah, Um ... superstitious and rather cowardly With freedom and justice for everyone! "

Original text(English)

“In blackest day or brightest night Watermelon, cantaloupe, yadda yadda Erm ... superstitious and cowardly lot With liberty and justice for all! "" "

Excerpt from the Green Lantern Corps

- Scoundrels, scoundrels! - shouted the old man, removing his face from her. - To ruin the army, to ruin people! For what? Go, go, tell Lisa. - The princess powerlessly sank into a chair beside her father and burst into tears. She saw her brother now at the minute he was saying goodbye to her and to Liza, with his gentle and at the same time arrogant air. She saw him the minute he gently and mockingly put the icon on himself. “Did he believe? Did he repent of his unbelief? Is he there now? Is it there, in the abode of eternal tranquility and bliss? " she thought.
- Mon pere, [Father,] tell me how it was? She asked through her tears.
- Go, go, killed in a battle in which they led to kill the best Russian people and Russian glory. Go, Princess Marya. Go and tell Lisa. I will come.
When Princess Marya returned from her father, the little princess was sitting at work, and with that special expression of an inner and happily calm look peculiar only to pregnant women, she looked at Princess Marya. It was evident that her eyes did not see Princess Marya, but looked deep into herself - into something happy and mysterious happening in her.
“Marie,” she said, moving away from the hoop and waddling back, “give your hand here. She took the princess's hand and laid it on her stomach.
Her eyes smiled expectantly, a sponge with a mustache rose, and remained raised, childishly happily.
Princess Marya knelt in front of her and hid her face in the folds of her daughter-in-law's dress.
- Here, here - do you hear? I'm so weird. And you know, Marie, I will love him very much, ”said Liza, looking at her sister-in-law with shining, happy eyes. Princess Marya could not raise her head: she was crying.
- What's the matter with you, Masha?
“Nothing… I felt so sad… sad about Andrei,” she said, wiping her tears on her daughter-in-law's knees. Several times, during the morning, Princess Marya began to prepare her daughter-in-law, and each time she began to cry. These tears, of which the little princess did not understand the reason, alarmed her, no matter how observant she was. She said nothing, but looked around uneasily, looking for something. Before dinner, the old prince, whom she had always feared, entered her room, now with a particularly restless, angry face, and without saying a word, left. She looked at Princess Marya, then pondered with that expression in the eyes of an inward-looking attention that is experienced by pregnant women, and suddenly burst into tears.
- Did you get anything from Andrey? - she said.
- No, you know that the news could not come yet, but mon is worried, and I am afraid.
- Oh nothing?
“Nothing,” said Princess Marya, looking firmly at her daughter-in-law with radiant eyes. She decided not to tell her and persuaded her father to hide the terrible news from her daughter-in-law until her permission, which was supposed to be the other day. Princess Marya and the old prince, each in his own way, wore and hid their grief. The old prince did not want to hope: he decided that Prince Andrei was killed, and despite the fact that he sent an official to Austria to look for the trace of his son, he ordered a monument to him in Moscow, which he intended to erect in his garden, and told everyone that his son was killed. He tried not to change his old way of life, but his strength changed him: he walked less, ate less, slept less, and every day he became weaker. Princess Marya hoped. She prayed for her brother as if she were alive, and every minute she waited for the news of his return.

- Ma bonne amie, [My good friend,] - said the little princess on the morning of March 19 after breakfast, and her sponge with a mustache rose up out of old habit; but as in all not only smiles, but the sounds of speeches, even gaits in this house from the day of receiving the terrible news, there was sadness, now the smile of the little princess, who succumbed to the general mood, although she did not know its reason, was such that she even more reminiscent of the general sadness.
- Ma bonne amie, je crains que le fruschtique (comme dit Fock - chef) de ce matin ne m "aie pas fait du mal. [My friend, I'm afraid that the current frishtik (as Fock's chef calls him) would not hurt me. ]
- What about you, my soul? You are pale. Oh, you are very pale, - said Princess Marya in dismay, running up to her daughter-in-law with her heavy, soft steps.
- Your Excellency, should you send for Marya Bogdanovna? - said one of the maids who were here. (Marya Bogdanovna was a midwife from a district town who had lived in Lysyh Gory for another week.)
“And in fact,” Princess Marya put in, “maybe, exactly. I will go. Courage, mon ange! [Fear not, my angel.] She kissed Lisa and wanted to leave the room.
- Oh, no, no! - And besides pallor, the child's fear of inevitable physical suffering was expressed on the face of the little princess.
- Non, c "est l" estomac ... dites que c "est l" estomac, dites, Marie, dites ... [No, this is a stomach ... tell Masha that this is a stomach ...] - and the princess cried childishly suffering, capricious and even somewhat feignedly, breaking his little hands. The princess ran out of the room after Marya Bogdanovna.
- Mon Dieu! Mon Dieu! [Oh my God! Oh my god!] Oh! She heard from behind her.
Rubbing full, small, white hands, the midwife was already walking towards her, with a much calm face.
- Marya Bogdanovna! It seems that it has begun, ”said Princess Marya, looking with frightened open eyes at her grandmother.
“Well, thank God, princess,” said Marya Bogdanovna without adding a step. “You girls shouldn't know about this.
- But how has the doctor not arrived from Moscow yet? - said the princess. (At the request of Liza and Prince Andrei, by the time they were sent to Moscow for an obstetrician, and they waited for him every minute.)
“Never mind, princess, don’t worry,” said Marya Bogdanovna, “and everything will be fine without the doctor.
Five minutes later the princess heard from her room that they were carrying something heavy. She looked out - the waiters were carrying a leather sofa, which was in Prince Andrey's office, into the bedroom for some reason. There was something solemn and quiet on the faces of the people who carried them.
Princess Marya sat alone in her room, listening to the sounds of the house, occasionally opening the door when they passed by, and looking closely at what was happening in the corridor. Several women with quiet steps passed there and from there, looked back at the princess and turned away from her. She did not dare to ask, shut the door, returned to her room, and then sat in her chair, then took up the prayer book, then knelt in front of the icon case. To her misfortune and surprise, she felt that prayer did not calm her excitement. Suddenly the door of her room opened quietly and her old nanny Praskovya Savishna, tied with a handkerchief, appeared on her threshold, almost never, due to the prohibition of the prince, who did not enter her room.
“Mashenka, I came to sit with you,” said the nanny, “but I brought the prince's wedding candles in front of the saint, my angel,” she said with a sigh.
- Oh, how glad I am, nanny.
- God is merciful, dove. - The nanny lit candles wrapped in gold in front of the icon case and sat down at the door with a stocking. Princess Marya took the book and began to read. Only when footsteps or voices were heard did the princess fearfully, questioningly, and the nanny looked at each other reassuringly. In all parts of the house, the same feeling was poured out and possessed by everyone that Princess Marya felt, sitting in her room. According to the belief that the fewer people know about the suffering of the parturient woman, the less she suffers, everyone tried to pretend not to know; no one talked about this, but in all people, except for the usual degree and respectfulness of good manners that reigned in the prince's house, one could see some kind of common concern, a softened heart and the consciousness of something great, incomprehensible, happening at that moment.
There was no laughing in the big girl's room. In the waiter's room, all the people sat and were silent, ready for something. Torches and candles were burned on the yard and did not sleep. The old prince, stepping on his heel, walked around the office and sent Tikhon to Marya Bogdanovna to ask: what? - Just tell me: the prince ordered to ask what? and come tell me what she has to say.
“Report to the prince that labor has begun,” said Marya Bogdanovna, looking significantly at the messenger. Tikhon went and reported to the prince.
“All right,” said the prince, closing the door behind him, and Tikhon did not hear the slightest sound in the study. A little later, Tikhon entered the office, as if to fix the candles. Seeing that the prince was lying on the sofa, Tikhon looked at the prince, at his upset face, shook his head, silently approached him and, kissing him on the shoulder, left without straightening the candles and without saying why he had come. The most solemn sacrament in the world continued to be performed. The evening has passed, the night has come. And the feeling of expectation and softening of the heart before the incomprehensible did not fall, but rose. Nobody slept.

It was one of those March nights when winter seemed to want to take its toll and pour out its last snows and storms with desperate malice. To meet the German doctor from Moscow, who was expected every minute and for whom a set-up was sent to the main road, to a turn onto a country road, horsemen with lanterns were sent to escort him through bumps and jams.
Princess Marya had long since abandoned the book: she sat silently, her radiant eyes fixed on the wrinkled face of the nurse, familiar to the slightest detail: a lock of gray hair that had emerged from under her kerchief, on a hanging bag of skin under her chin.
Nanny Savishna, with a stocking in her hands, in a low voice, she herself did not hear and did not understand her words, she had told hundreds of times about how the deceased princess in Chisinau gave birth to Princess Marya, with a Moldavian peasant woman, instead of her grandmother.
“God will have mercy, you never need a doctor,” she said. Suddenly a gust of wind fell on one of the exposed frames of the room (at the behest of the prince, one frame in each room was always exhibited with larks) and, knocking back a badly closed latch, rattled the damask curtain, and, smelling of cold and snow, blew out the candle. Princess Marya shuddered; the nanny, putting down her stocking, went to the window and leaning out began to catch the thrown frame. The cold wind ruffled the ends of her handkerchief and gray strands of hair that had strayed out.
- Princess, mother, someone is going on the prospect! She said, holding the frame and not closing it. - With lanterns, must be a doctor ...
- Oh my god! Thank God! - said Princess Marya, - we must go to meet him: he does not know Russian.
Princess Marya threw on a shawl and ran to meet those who were riding. When she passed the front hall, she saw through the window that some kind of carriage and lanterns were standing at the entrance. She went out onto the stairs. A tallow candle stood on the rail of the railing and flowed in the wind. The waiter Philip, with a frightened face and with another candle in his hand, stood below, on the first landing of the stairs. Even lower, around the bend, up the stairs, footsteps in warm boots could be heard moving. And some familiar voice, as it seemed to Princess Marya, was saying something.
- Thank God! The voice said. - And father?
- We lay down to rest, - answered the voice of the butler Demyan, who was already below.
Then a voice said something else, and Demian answered something, and the steps in warm boots began to approach faster along the invisible turn of the stairs. "This is Andrey! - thought Princess Marya. No, it cannot be, it would be too extraordinary, "she thought, and at the same moment as she thought it, on the platform where the waiter was standing with a candle, the face and figure of Prince Andrey appeared in a fur coat with a collar sprinkled snow. Yes, it was him, but pale and thin, and with a changed, strangely softened, but anxious expression on his face. He entered the stairs and hugged his sister.
- You haven't received my letter? - he asked, and without waiting for an answer, which he would not have received, because the princess could not speak, he returned, and with the obstetrician who entered after him (he moved in with him at the last station), with quick steps again entered the stairs and hugged his sister again. - What a fate! - he said, - Masha is dear - and, throwing off his fur coat and boots, he went to the princess's half.

The little princess was lying on pillows in a white cap. (Suffering had just released her.) Black hair curled in strands around her sore, sweaty cheeks; a ruddy, charming mouth with a sponge covered with black hair was open, and she smiled happily. Prince Andrew entered the room and stopped in front of her, at the foot of the sofa on which she was lying. Shining eyes, looking childish, frightened and worried, stopped on him, without changing their expression. “I love you all, I didn’t do any harm to anyone, why am I suffering? help me, ”her expression said. She saw her husband, but did not understand the significance of his appearance now in front of her. Prince Andrey walked around the sofa and kissed her on the forehead.
“My darling,” he said: a word that he had never spoken to her. - God is merciful. She looked at him questioningly, childishly reproachful.
- I expected help from you, and nothing, nothing, and you too! - said her eyes. She was not surprised that he came; she did not understand that he had arrived. His arrival had nothing to do with her suffering and relief. The agony began again, and Marya Bogdanovna advised Prince Andrey to leave the room.
The midwife entered the room. Prince Andrew went out and, meeting Princess Marya, again went up to her. They spoke in a whisper, but the conversation fell silent every minute. They waited and listened.
- Allez, mon ami, [Go, my friend,] - Princess Marya said. Prince Andrew went to his wife again, and sat down in the next room, waiting. Some woman left her room with a frightened face and was embarrassed when she saw Prince Andrew. He covered his face with his hands and sat there for several minutes. Pathetic, helplessly animal moans were heard from outside the door. Prince Andrew got up, went to the door and wanted to open it. Someone was holding the door.
- You can't, you can't! - said a frightened voice from there. - He began to walk around the room. The screams stopped, and a few more seconds passed. Suddenly a terrible cry - not her cry, she could not scream like that - rang out in the next room. Prince Andrew ran to the door; the cry fell silent, the cry of a child was heard.
“Why did they bring the child there? thought for the first second Prince Andrew. Child? What? ... Why is there a child? Or was it a baby born? " When he suddenly realized all the joyful meaning of this cry, tears strangled him, and he, leaning both hands on the windowsill, sobbing, wept like children cry. The door opened. The doctor, with his shirt sleeves rolled up, no frock coat, pale and with a trembling jaw, left the room. Prince Andrew turned to him, but the doctor looked at him in confusion and, without saying a word, walked by. The woman ran out and, seeing Prince Andrey, hesitated on the threshold. He entered his wife's room. She lay dead in the same position in which he had seen her five minutes ago, and the same expression, in spite of the fixed eyes and the pallor of her cheeks, was on that lovely, childish face with a sponge covered with black hair.
"I love you all and have never done anything wrong to anyone, and what have you done to me?" spoke her lovely, pitiful, dead face. In the corner of the room something small, red chuckled and squeaked in Marya Bogdanovna's shaking white hands.

Two hours later, Prince Andrei entered his father's study with quiet steps. The old man already knew everything. He stood at the very door, and as soon as it opened, the old man silently, with his old, stiff hands, like a vice, clasped his son's neck and sobbed like a child.

Three days later, the funeral service for the little princess was performed, and, saying goodbye to her, Prince Andrei ascended the steps of the coffin. And in the coffin was the same face, albeit with closed eyes. "Oh, what have you done to me?" it kept saying, and Prince Andrey felt that something had come off in his soul, that he was to blame for his guilt, which he could not correct and forget. He couldn't cry. The old man also entered and kissed her wax pen, lying calmly and high on the other, and her face said to him: "Oh, what and why did you do this to me?" And the old man turned away angrily when he saw this face.

Five days later, the young Prince Nikolai Andreich was baptized. Mother held the diapers with her chin, while the priest smeared the wrinkled red palms and steps of the boy with a goose feather.
The godfather grandfather, afraid to drop, shuddering, carried the baby around the crumpled tin font and handed it over to the godmother, Princess Marya. Prince Andrew, dying with fear that the child would not be drowned, was sitting in another room, waiting for the end of the sacrament. He glanced happily at the child when his nanny carried him out, and nodded his head approvingly when the nanny informed him that the wax with hairs thrown into the font had not drowned, but swam through the font.

Rostov's participation in Dolokhov's duel with Bezukhov was hushed up by the efforts of the old count, and Rostov, instead of being demoted, as he expected, was appointed an adjutant to the Moscow governor-general. As a result, he could not go to the village with the whole family, and remained in his new position all summer in Moscow. Dolokhov recovered, and Rostov became especially friends with him at this time of his recovery. Dolokhov was sick with his mother, who passionately and tenderly loved him. The old woman Marya Ivanovna, who fell in love with Rostov for his friendship with Fedya, often told him about her son.
- Yes, count, he is too noble and pure in soul, - she used to say, - for our present, corrupted world. No one likes virtue, it hurts everyone's eyes. Well tell me, Count, is it fair, honestly on the part of Bezukhov? And Fedya, by his nobility, loved him, and now he never says anything bad about him. In St. Petersburg, these pranks with the quarter there was something joking, after all, they did together? Well, nothing to Bezukhov, but Fedya endured everything on his shoulders! After all, what did he endure! Suppose they returned, but how could they not return? I think there weren't many brave men and sons of the fatherland like him. Well now - this duel! Do these people have a feeling, honor! Knowing that he is the only son, challenge him to a duel and shoot so straight! It is good that God has mercy on us. And what for? Well, who in our time has no intrigue? Well, if he's so jealous? I understand, because before he could give to feel, and that year after all lasted. And so, he challenged him to a duel, believing that Fedya would not fight, because he owed him. What baseness! That's disgusting! I know you understand Fedya, my dear count, that's why I love you with my soul, believe me. His rare understand. This is such a tall, heavenly soul!

White Lantern Corps (White lantern corps) is a fictional organization that appears in the universe. He first appears in a comic book titled Blackest Night# 7 (April 2011) by writer Jeff Jones and artist Ivan Reis.

Biography

The first member of the White Lantern Corps became Sinestro from Korugara when he fused with the Living Entity, which is the embodiment of life itself. However, this Essence was soon retrieved from Sinestro by the Necron, and then merged with Hal Jordan, who, along with Flash, use his power to save Superman, Superboy, Wonder Woman, Donna Troy, Ice, Animal Man, Kid Flash and Green Arrow. who became Black Lanterns under the leadership of Necron. Jordan then used the power of the Entity to break Necron's connection to the living world, which was maintained by the Black Hand. Reviving the Black Hand, twelve White Rings appeared, which destroyed the body of Necron, and revived the Martian Hunter, Aquaman, Dead Man, Hawk Man, Eagle, Jade, Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond), Osiris, Hawk, Maxwell Lord and Captain Boomerang Professor Zuma. Currently, only the Dead man owns the White Ring of Power, but all those who were formerly in the White Lantern Corps are still considered members of it, since the White Light still has some degree of control over them.

After the defeat of Necron, all the heroes who transformed into White Lanterns leave the corps, with the exception of the Dead Man, who retained the White Ring to resurrect the dead. After a while, the Entity tells the Dead Man that she is dying and he needs to find a "chosen one" who will replace him. This becomes Dead Man's main mission. He believes that Hal Jordan is the ideal candidate for the role and tells the Entity to take him on. However, instead of Jordan, the White Lantern Ring sends Dead Man and Dove to Aquaman and Mera. Aquaman tells them that the White Light told him to find Jackson Hyde. The dead man wonders why the ring transported him to Aquaman instead of the Green Lantern, at a time when he must seek a replacement for the Entity. To which the ring replies that before looking for a replacement, the Dead Man must help all twelve resurrected to complete their tasks.

Meanwhile, Mortal Storm finds the White Lantern, which infects him with his dark essence, after which he gains the ability to create projections. These projections become duplicates of the twelve heroes and villains who were previously resurrected by the Entity. Firestorm tries to stop him.

When the White Ring reaches 100% charge and turns the Dead Man into a White Lantern, it delivers it to the Hawkman and Eagle, who in the meantime have completed their tasks. The Entity says that in order to return to normal life, they need to learn to live separately from each other, but they refuse to go for it, to which the Entity says "Let it be so," turning them into white dust in front of the Dead Man's eyes. Meanwhile, Mortal Storm and the Black Lanterns delivered the White Battery to Kward. The Dead tells the ring to return Hawkman and Eagle, but the ring refuses, saying it is part of the Entity's plan. It is also shown that when Necron attacked Earth, in addition to being fatally wounded, the Entity also intensified the planet's pollution. It is also said that darkness and corruption will manifest in the form of a "Dark Avatar" who will try to destroy the Star City forest, which is the key to saving the soul of the Earth. The entity resurrects twelve characters with different goals. Some of them, such as Hawk, Maxwell Lord, and Jade, have been revived to prevent further disasters, and to give the Dead and the Essence more time. While five heroes such as Aquaman, Firestorm, The Martian Hunter, Hawk and Eagle have been revived to overcome what kept them alive. After completing their task, their life force is cleansed and the ring absorbs their essences, because they are essential in saving the Earth.

Later, the ring takes Dead Man to the shore, where Aquaman and Aqualad battle Black Manta and Siren. Where, after completing his mission, the Entity turns Aquaman into white dust. After the Martian Hunter completed his task, the Entity asked him that he would choose Mars or Earth. The Martian Hunter chose Earth, arriving there, he turned into white dust. Meanwhile, Firestorm learns that the Anti-Monitor wants to harness the life energy inside the White Lantern in order to become even stronger. Firestorm tries to fight the Anti-Monitor, but is defeated. When Professor Stein is hit, Ronnie and Jason finally truly work together, at which time the Entity declares that Ronnie has completed his task and brings him back to life, while the White Energy destroys the Black Lanterns. The storm arrives in Star City. Dead Man then tells him to be given a White Lantern.

When the "Dark Avatar" appears on Earth, Dead Man is forced to transform Ronnie into one of the Elementals. The life force of Aquaman, Martian Hunter, Hawkman and Eagle have also been transformed into Elementals who will protect the forest, Star City. Aquaman became the embodiment of the elemental - water, Firestorm - fire, Martian Hunter - earth, and Hawkman and Hawk - wind. All the elementals began to defend the forest from the "Dark Avatar", who becomes the Swamp Thing, personifying the Black Lantern. At this time, Captain Boomerang throws his boomerang, but the Hawk did not manage to catch it, in the place of this he falls into the Dead Man. When the Dead Man dies, the liberated white energy spawns a new Swamp Thing that fights and defeats the "Dark Avatar". After the battle, each of the twelve heroes / villains is brought back to life, with the exception of the Dead Man.

White Lantern Corps Composition

  • Kyle Rayner - sector 2814. After mastering the seven colors of the emotional spectrum, his own ring created the White Light, after which Kyle became the White Lantern. Kyle is the only White Lantern whose power does not come from the Entity, nor was he chosen by the ring. For a while, Kyle lost his ring (stolen by Sinestro), but the ring soon returned to him after he found the two former Lanterns unsuitable for the role of the owner. Oath of the White Lantern Corps

Our light burns inside the rings
Our light burns inside our hearts.
We're tearing down the canopy of darkness
We shine on the far way.
Nothing is brighter and brighter
Than the light from the White Lanterns!

Capabilities

Each White Lantern has a Ring of Power, which allows its owner to create white energy constructs powered by life itself. Originally the first carrier of the Essence was Sinestro, who has demonstrated the ability to easily destroy the Black Lanterns and is described as "godlike". He is also able to survive even if mortally wounded, healing in minutes. When Hal Jordan became the owner of this power, he demonstrated the ability to create additional rings and revive heroes who fell at the hands of Necron. When Dead Man becomes the owner of the White Ring, he demonstrates the ability to resurrect dead birds. He also turned the piece of land destroyed by Prometheus into a dense forest.

The Green Ring can be modified and functioned as a White Ring if the wearer can master the emotional spectrum. This version of the ring is a much stronger version of the regular Green Ring. This White Ring is unable to restore the living creatures of the planet who suddenly died. Kyle claimed that he can only heal wounds, and not raise the dead, but this is not a fact.

When Kyle Rayner possessed the White Ring (and his modified Green Lantern ring), he had the ability to use the capabilities and functions of the other seven rings: Red Lanterns: emit red plasma; Orange Lanterns: projections from orange light; Sinestro Corps: create structures that are based on the fear of the enemy; Green Lantern: complex green light designs; Blue Lanterns: constructions that raise hope and heal wounds, heal diseases; Indigo Tribe: teleportation; Star Sapphires: Crystals that can control the enemy and make them feel love.

DC Comics has given the world a lot of superheroes. The most popular comic book characters such as Superman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman are all DC Comics creations. Among the many comics of this publishing house, the series about the adventures of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic organization of the defenders of the Universe, was very popular.

Over the years, various Green Lanterns have played an important role in the work of this community: Alan Scott, Abin Sur, Kyle Rainer and others. But the most beloved by the readers was a hero named Harold Jordan.

History of the Green Lantern Corps

This powerful organization appeared a long time ago. Initially, a race of incredibly intelligent and noble creatures lived on a distant planet called Malthus. Once, due to an unfortunate mistake, they became the cause of a great evil. In order to somehow rectify the deed, the Malthusians left their home and settled in on the planet Oa. Here they organized the Green Lantern Corps, whose task was to save all living things in the universe.

The founders of the Corps were men from Malthus, but the female half of the planet's inhabitants reacted negatively to this organization. Therefore, the women organized their own Emotional Spectrum Corps, composed of brave female warriors, better known as the Star Sapphires.

The sphere of influence of the Green Lantern Corps includes three thousand six hundred sectors of the Universe. Each of these sectors is overseen by a specific Green Lantern. A total of 7200 Corps members are known, but not all of them are Green Lanterns.

The source of power for each Lantern is its personal green ring, fed by the willpower of its wearer. The stronger the hero, the more powerful structures created by him with the help of the ring of power. The power of this artifact is not limited, it all depends on the imagination of its bearer.

Despite its incredible power, the ring of power must be constantly recharged from the Battery in a small lantern. In this case, you need to take the standard oath.

For some Corps members, it may differ due to the characteristics of the sector they patrol.

Initially, the rule was adopted to recharge the ring once a day, but due to various unforeseen circumstances, few of the Lanterns adhered to this.

The main enemies of the Lantern Corps

Over the three billion years of its existence, the Corps has faced many opponents, often being guilty of their appearance.

Besides the Green Lantern Corps (Willpower), there are eight others. These are the Corps of Black (death), Orange (greed), Red (anger and rage), Blue (hope) and White (life) Lanterns, as well as Sinestro Corps (fear), Indigo Tribe (compassion) and Star Sapphires (Love). At different times, there were different relationships between these organizations. They often fought each other. But from time to time they had to unite in the face of a stronger enemy.

Unfortunately, after millions of years, this monster was destined to break free, and an earthling named Hal Jordan helped him in this, unwittingly.

Hal Jordan's life before becoming Green Lantern

Before becoming a Green Lantern, Hal was just the average American. His real name is Harold Hal Jordan. He was born and raised in a huge city called Coast City, California.

Following in the footsteps of his deceased father, the guy also became a military test pilot at Ferris Aircraft. In his free time, he was fond of boxing, and also communicated with his nephews.

But one day, during the next test of the plane, Hal Jordan's life changed irrevocably. He was chosen as its successor by the ring of power of a dying Green Lantern named Abin Sur.

Abin Sur - predecessor of Hal Jodan

At one time, Abin Sur was a legendary hero. Originally from the planet Ungara, this character has accomplished many great deeds as a Green Lantern and has been an example for many young Lanterns.

He visited Earth several times and protected it from various threats. But somehow, during the execution of the next task, Abin Sur was wounded by enemies and, anticipating death, landed on the nearest planet to find a successor and give him his ring. The human Earth turned out to be such a planet.

At first, the Abin Sura ring recognized Clark Kent as the most worthy candidate, but due to the fact that he was a Kryptonian, the choice fell on a brave earthman named Hal Jordan.

Jordan in the Green Lantern Corps

In addition to the ring, Jordan also inherited the Green Lantern costume from Abin Sur. After joining the Corps and learning to control the ring's power, the new Green Lantern became the curator of Sector 2814, which also included his home planet Earth. Acting as a Green Lantern, Hal hid his identity from almost all of his family and friends, except for his best friend Thomas Kalmaki. And for cover, he continued to work for Ferris Aircraft.

With the advent of the Justice League of America, Jordan also became an active participant in it. Here his friend became another superhero of the DC Comics universe - The Flash (real name

One of Hal's mentors in the Corps was Sinestro. However, he considered Jordan unsuitable for such a great mission. During one of his travels, Hal Jordan accidentally found out that on his planet Sinestro had become a cruel tyrant, oppressing his people and demanding to be worshiped as a deity.

To help the hapless inhabitants, Jordan, risking his freedom, rebelled on the planet and overthrew Sinestro. After the incident, the tyrant was forced to leave the Green Lantern Corps. In spite of his former colleagues, the exile organized his own Sinestro Corps, using the power of fear in his yellow rings. In addition, the villain vowed to take revenge on Hal and after a while he had such an opportunity.

Emerald Twilight storyline: Jordan's conversion to Paralax

Meanwhile, Coast City was destroyed and all of its inhabitants, including Hal's family, were killed. Jordan was unable to cope with his grief and tried, using the power of his ring, to restore his hometown and revive all its inhabitants.

However, the power of Jordan's ring was not enough. Moreover, for such arbitrariness, the Green Lantern Corps dispatched a group of representatives to stop and punish Jordan. But the hero was so furious that he destroyed all the friends and colleagues that got in his way.

Also, Sinestro becomes his victim (as Hal and those around him believed, but in reality it was just a trick of the villain).

Having overcome all obstacles, he enters the Central Power Battery to charge the ring and restore the hometown of Hal Jordan. Parallax, who had long awaited him there, took advantage of the Green Lantern's rage and took possession of his mind and body. Hal is now the new Parallax.

Jordan Specter

But the hero's soul, because of everything he had done, was not accepted either in hell or in paradise. So he became the master of the spirit of vengeance called the Specter. In this capacity, Jordan was able to finally get rid of the residual influence of Parallax and over time he was returned to his body - he again became the Green Lantern.

Hal Jordan character description

Like most superheroes who successfully disguised their identities, Hal's appearance was typical of an American military pilot. He was an athletic brown-eyed brunette. Jordan's height was a little less than two meters (182 cm, according to other sources - 190 cm), however, as well as his weight up to a centner (91 kg).

As for character, Hal has always been fearless (this is one of the reasons why Abin Sura's ring chose him). Besides, Jordan absolutely didn’t know how to lose. Feeling the closeness of defeat, he always looked for a way to avoid it, often doing things that were unexpected for his opponents. So, in order to stop the destruction of the Earth, Hal sacrificed himself and died, but was later resurrected.

However, Hal Jordan's character description would be incomplete without mentioning its flaws. First of all, Jordan was extremely emotional for Green Lantern. By playing this, Sinestro was able to use Hal to resurrect Parallax. Arrogance was also characteristic of Jordan.

Jordan's relationship with Carol Farris

Hal was also partial to the fair sex. He often had fleeting romances, while still a simple pilot. And having become the owner of superpower, sometimes he did not cease to indulge this weakness of his.

However, he was most interested in the head of his company, Carol Ferris. But the girl was a strict boss, who did not allow the thought of an affair with an employee. At the same time, the heart of a harsh beauty was given to the hero hiding under the guise of a Green Lantern. In love with the heroic image, Carol did not even suspect that her beloved was very close to her.

Hal and Carol's relationship might have a future, but Star Sapphires chose her as their queen and, under the influence of hypnosis, made her believe that her beloved Green Lantern was her enemy.

After the alleged death of Jordan, Carol married another man, but her family life did not work out. When Hal was resurrected, she quietly divorced, without even telling her lover, and continued to thwart all his attempts to start a relationship.

Hal Jordan's character in film and television

Back in the fifties, DC Comics began making films based on their DC Universe. Despite the incredible popularity of Hal Jordan (ranked seventh in the ranking of superheroes), a full-length movie about him was shot only in 2011, although before that he periodically appeared in animated series and individual cartoons. On the screen, this image was embodied by the American actor Ryan Reynolds.

The plot of the movie "Green Lantern", although it tells about the transformation of Hal Jordan into the Green Lantern, as well as about his fight against Parallax, at the same time contains many deviations from the comic book canon. As a result, the film barely covered the costs of its creation and received negative reviews. That being said, although there are rumors that a sequel will be filmed in 2020, the film will be dedicated not only to Hal Jordan, but to the entire Green Lantern Corps.

The highly successful television series Arrow, about another DC Comics hero, was recently renewed for a new season. In the comics, Green Arrow and Green Lantern collaborated quite often, but Jordan's character is not yet involved in the television series. At the same time, attentive fans nevertheless noticed how Hal Jordan appeared in "Arrow". This happened in the first episode of the fourth season, when the main character reminisced about his stay in Coast City. In the background, there was a glimpse of someone wearing green clothes with the Jordan patch.

Another superhero television series in this series, The Flash, also contains references to Hal Jordan. So, in one of the episodes, it is shown that the main character has the name Hal on the speed dial in the phone under the second number, and, as you know, Flash and Green Lantern are close friends.

Two Justice League films are also due out soon, with Hal Jordan playing Dan Amboyer.

Hal Jordan is an amazing hero of the universe. He owes his appearance to the fact that the series about the Green Lantern Corps began to lose its popularity, and the appearance of a new character should have attracted the interest of readers, which happened. However, in the mid-nineties, due to another crisis, it was decided to replace Jordan with another Green Lantern. In this regard, a storyline with Parallax was invented, where, ultimately, Hal Jordan died. But the readers fell in love with this character so much that, at their urgent requests, Jordan was resurrected and is still one of the main characters of the DC comics universe.
