GEL POLISHES: WHAT IS IT AND HOW DO THEY DIFFER FROM GEL POLISH?

Few clients show an interest in the specifics of the materials with which their craftsmen work. For them, above all, quality and appearance manicure. In the choice of materials, they rely on the specialists they come to for the service. This trust is worth a lot if it is earned by the craftsmen, and, on the contrary, it may cost too much to the client if it is deceived (such is the pun).

The ideal option is when both parties understand what exactly one has to work with and the other to walk with. Therefore, Topnailsmag turned to such a burning topic as gel polishes and gel polishes. Not only clients, but also many craftsmen often think that these are one and the same thing. Many good people... To find out what is the difference, we went to a person who knows the difference not only in theory, but also in practice - to the teacher of the company "Victory" Kiev Elmira Tsyupina.

I

« Gel polish is an innovative product... Someone will say: "Well, what an innovation, gel varnishes have existed for a long time!" Yes. Gel polishes have been around since 1986. But then they were just in jars, closed with a lid and they did not have a brush. Today it is a material that is very convenient to work with, not only because of the consistency and properties of the gel, but also because of the convenient applicator. "

“What's the difference between gel polish and gel polish? Gel polishes are hybrids that consist of a gel part and a varnish in certain proportions. To date, it has been proven that gel polish has an aggressive effect on the nail plate. Two weeks after application, ethyl acetate, an element that is responsible for the thickness of the varnish, escapes from the varnish portion of the coating. From this moment, the material begins to mutate from a hybrid (gel polish) into a gel. After such a transformation, this gel becomes closer to technical quality in terms of its quality. When it is removed, the nail plate is significantly damaged. This can be seen with the naked eye: whitish scratches and burrs appear on the nail. More often than not, craftsmen seek to smooth out these shortcomings. But if they are deep enough and the grinder does not take them, files are used. And then the moment of truth comes : as we know, initially the gel polish was invented so that the nail was not subjected to any kind of filing at all. For the reasons described above, these conditions are not met. "

« Gel polishes are 100% eco-gel related to the soft gel system. It is completely soluble. After 2-3 weeks, he is not threatened with a mutation.

What is Eco Gel? When faced with this term, we often do not always know what we are dealing with. This gel is a hypoallergenic material that does not stick into the nail plate. Accordingly, it does not attack the nail aggressively. The condition of the nail before and after coating does not change. "

« It is very easy to work with gel polishes - they are quickly applied and dried... The material is polymerized in both UV and LED apparatus. This is one of the major advantages. Gel polish is quite flexible, so it duplicates all the lines and curves of the nail. Thanks to this, it does not flake off, does not chip, its top coating has a rather interesting property: if you scratch the surface, it will not be visible.

The consistency of gel varnishes is quite liquid, because of this it is easy to work with it, it does not fall as a heavy drop on the nail plate, but covers it evenly, repeating all the bends and lines. Unlike gel varnishes, the varnish gel does not thicken during use. It is worth recognizing that in certain brands of gel polish, up to 40% of the product freezes and settles at the bottom of the bottle, which become unusable - it will simply be difficult to get them out of the bottle.

When in contact with the skin, the gel polish does not cause allergic reactions and discomfort, it can be easily removed with an orange stick. "

« During polymerization, the coating is compressed. This means that even if the master applies two or three very thick layers, after being in the LED apparatus, the gel polish will "shrink", will look neat on the nail and will show its color even more.

Another convenient feature: the master can afford to choose whether to seal the butt or not. For customers with a small free edge, it is not very convenient to seal without getting your finger dirty. Therefore, you can safely not do this. In any case, the material will not flake off. "

« Gel polishes are shown to clients with weakened nails... This coating creates a kind of protective barrier that does not allow the natural nail to delaminate further. "

« 30 seconds inLED apparatus, 2 minutes in ultraviolet. Since such a coating is applied and polymerized very quickly, the client can leave with a ready-made absolutely dry perfect manicure in 10-15 minutes. "

“Gel varnishes are removed after 2-3 weeks, very easily: cut the sponge into 4 parts, soak it in an acitone-containing solution and apply it on the surface of the nail for 7-10 minutes. Can be closed on top with foil. After this procedure, the gel leaves the surface of the nail in the form of a film, while leaving a protective layer on the natural nail. It does not need to be removed - you can safely repeat the procedure again, or walk like that. Pay attention to how healthy and beautiful the nail looks after removing the gel polish. There is not a hint of damage, on the contrary - a protective film covers the natural nail plate ”.

This type of varnish combines all beneficial features gel and regular nail polish. It creates a cellular environment on the surface of the nail, a kind of "shield", thanks to which the manicure is able to last up to several weeks. This is very convenient for a woman whose busy lifestyle does not allow her to devote much time to nail care. Indeed, in addition to the external effect, gel polish strengthens and protects the nail plate, thanks to the various nutritional components that make up it. We are all familiar with the phenomenon of exfoliation of the colored layer after a couple of days, even with the assistance of a fixer. Obviously, the use of gel polish is much more profitable, since by paying for such a manicure, we can remain calm about its strength and durability. We know for sure that our nails will retain their original appearance until, for example, any important event scheduled in 1-2 weeks, before a business meeting, date, or the end of the vacation.

Another feature of bmg gel polish is its color, or rather, colors. They are brighter than the colors of our usual day of nail polish and their number is unmeasured (over 200 shades). Also, gel polish gives the nails shine and makes them visually similar to extended nails with a perfectly flat surface. By the way, gel polish can be applied to both natural and artificial nails. The bright color of the varnish lasts as long as the thick layer on the surface of the nail. It does not fade in the sun and, after a couple of weeks, will look as bright and flawless as on the day it was applied. Gel polish is often painted various patterns on the nails. And a French manicure made with such a varnish will look truly amazing.

However, the use of gel varnishes also has a number of significant disadvantages. Firstly, painting is best done in the salon, since a manicure with gel polish requires not only specialized technology, such as an ultraviolet lamp, but also the appropriate skills, experience with gels. Therefore, it will be rather difficult to carry out this procedure at home.

So, how is nail polish with gel polish carried out? First of all, using a cotton pad or tampon, it is necessary to apply a special degreasing agent to the nail plate. Next is the base coverage. After that, we resort to using a UV lamp, since the gel polish is not able to dry quickly on its own. Nails should be under the lamp for at least 2-3 minutes. Then we can safely apply gel polish. Usually it is applied in 2-3 coats. Each layer, before applying the next one, must be "dried" under a UV lamp. On top of the varnish, for greater strength, a fixing agent should be applied, and then hold the nails under the lamp again. And the last final step is rubbing the nail plate with alcohol.

It should be remembered that wiping off gel polish is not as easy as usual, due to their resistance to acetone. For this, special products are used, which, by the way, also contain nutrients.

One of the disadvantages of gel polish is that in 2-3 weeks, during which the manicure retains its original appearance, the cuticle has time to grow, and the nails cease to look perfect. But, in any case, ordinary varnish will not be able to hold out on the nail plate for a week, so gel polish is still more practical.

Also, gel polish has the property of cracking at low temperatures, so you should not use it in the winter season.

There are two types of gel polishes. These are light-curing and non-curing varnishes. The painting process with the first type is described above. And the second type differs in that it has a structure similar to glue and can be applied directly from the tube. It is applied in a thin layer and fixed with a special spray, catalyst or plain water. Does not need ultraviolet irradiation.

Whether you should try such an unusual innovation as gel polish or continue using traditional nail polish - it's up to you.

I have been doing gel polish for 3 years without stopping and my nails are in excellent condition, thanks to the durable gel coating.

Base and top I currently have kodi, which I really like! And I use a colored coating of other companies - bluesky (I have 16 colors), B.O., TNL.

Gel Polish TNL Professionel Gel Polish I was strongly advised to try the consultants in the store where they sell everything for manicure. I am a lover of feminine shades (milky, pink, red) and this time I chose a neutral varnish for myself - a transparent base with silver sparkles.

I used to really like to highlight 1 finger on each hand with a different color, for example, all the nails are white, and the ring fingers are covered with dense silvery glitter. That's why I took just this

Volume: 10 ml.

Price: 199 rub.

Color No. 373 "Shimmer"

Palette Gel varnishes TNL Professional Gel Polish.

TNL Professional gel-varnish has a liquid viscosity, it spreads well over the nail, and does not flow onto the cuticle. Suitable for beginners and professionals. Can be applied to the extended and natural nail plate.

Application method:

1) Cover the nail with a base for gel polish, dry in a LED lamp - 30 sec .; in a UV lamp - 2 minutes;

2) Apply TNL Gel Polish in two layers, curing each layer in a LED lamp - 30 sec .; in a UV lamp - 2 minutes.

3) Cover with fixer, dry in LED lamp - 30 sec .; in a UV lamp - 2 minutes.

Gel polish is resistant to external influences, lasts 3-4 weeks on nails. For achievement better effect recommended for use with TNL Professional base and fixer.

At home, I immediately made a swatch on the palette. I missed the color a little, as it gave a barely noticeable coverage with unexpressed small shiny particles. It immediately became clear that at least 3 layers would have to be applied.

The bottle of the gel polish is slightly larger than that of the Bluesky I am used to. I think the varnish itself will have time to thicken faster than I use at least half the bottle.

A well-shaped brush just enough to evenly cover the entire nail.

Application and result.

It is very interesting that after applying the first layer of tnl, when drying in a lamp, the nails glowed, as they usually glow when I apply the top!

Since these are sparkles with a transparent base, when applied to nails, I did not bother much, the color lay well, and visually looked even.

I put codi on the base, and covered it with cody on top.

To make the varnish look tighter, I applied 3 coats, although all 4 could have been applied. It has a loose finish, like other varnishes I've tried.

After 10 days, nothing chipped, varnish did not fade... In principle, this is not surprising for me, I seal the gel polish well during the application process, and I have never had any chips.

Let's see what happens in a week) I'm used to wearing gel polish for 3 weeks. But I was already tired of the color ... I thought that, on the contrary, it was neutral, which means I will walk with such a manicure for a long time, and I already want to buy some new gel polish and refresh the coating of the nails

TNL has a palette of 400 different colors and shades! Probably I'll take my next gel polish from them, there is plenty to choose from.

For the first time in the development of materials like gel nail polish, began to be carried out back in the 90s by such well-known companies as OPI and NSI. However, gel and acrylic systems, popular at that time, were at the peak of sales, and company managers decided not to create internal competition and postpone the development of an innovative product. Even then, nail service masters tried to add ordinary colored varnishes to the gel, which did not always bring a positive result.

In 2010, a new product appeared on the market of the nail industry, which became truly revolutionary. The American company CND (Creative Nail Design) has introduced a hybrid of nail polish and modeling gel called Shellac. This product incorporates the best properties of varnishes (simple and quick application, the richest palette of colors, bright shine) and gels (stable coating of nails for up to three weeks with color retention, no odor). At the same time, it is worth noting such an important point: unlike correction using conventional nail gels, when removing gel polish, there is no need to cut the material, which means that the natural nail plate is also preserved.

The resistance and durability of gel polish is comparable to building gels

In Russia and the CIS countries, the new invention was dubbed "shellac" (other spellings are shillac, shellac, shilak and even that - shi lacquer), and this is often called this not only Shellac itself from CND, but also gel varnishes from other manufacturers, which are now there are great amount... Almost every company that manufactures nail products has gel varnishes in its catalog. And they all have their own names. But in our country they stubbornly continue to call them "shellacs". Why? For the same reason that we call diapers diapers (in honor of their most famous brand Pampers), and copiers - copiers (named after the brand of the Xerox copier manufacturer). There are even such phrases in everyday life as "to make a shilak", "today I am going to a shilak" and the like. As a result of the confusion that has arisen, many clients ask their masters: which is better - gel polish or shellac?

The variety of colors and shades of gel polishes is not inferior to conventional varnishes

So, shellac is the name of a specific product - CND Shellac ™ gel varnish, which has become a household name in the CIS, where it refers to any gel varnish for nails of various brands.

The varnish / gel hybrid has many advantages. The product is highly durable. When applied correctly, it lasts up to 3 weeks without scuffs, cracks or chips. All this time the varnish does not lose its luster. Gel polish gives strength to brittle nails, suitable for manicure and pedicure.

An important point for owners of sensitive nails - the absence of components harmful to health. The products do not contain toluene, dibutyl phthalate, and its resins. When applying and removing the gel polish, the nails are not cut off. Manicure can be done all the time; the product does not interfere with the normal growth and renewal of nails.

The advantages include ease of application. You can do a manicure in the salon or on your own. It is important to purchase everything you need: a protective base for varnish, colored varnish, a protective top, as well as a powerful salon-level UV lamp. You can remove the product with a proprietary liquid, but a conventional nail polish remover, containing or not containing acetone, will work as well.

The first lines of gel polishes had a limited color range classic shades. Today in the family of combined varnishes you can find original trendy colors: blue, green, purple. In addition, gel polishes mix well with each other. Please note that you can only mix products of the same brand.

The disadvantages of gel polish include the need for thorough processing of nails before coating. On too fatty, ribbed and uneven plates, the product does not hold well. It is necessary to polish the nails, removing all the irregularities, and then degrease the plates with a special compound.

Gel polishes are quite difficult to remove. It will not work to erase the coating with one movement of a cotton pad. You will have to make a kind of compress from tampons soaked in nail polish remover, and after softening, scrape off the coating with a wooden or plastic stick. The whole process will take at least an hour.

You need to apply the product in several stages. First, give the nail the desired shape and length, remove the cuticle. Grind the plate with a polishing block and wipe with a napkin dipped in nail polish remover. Then apply a layer of clear protective base and cure it under a UV lamp.

Apply color coating gently. Gel polish lays down in an even glossy layer, well distributed over the nail. Accidental streaks can be quickly removed with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover. Dry the varnish under the lamp. Apply a special fixing coat on top and secure it under the lamp too. Take your time, the manicure must be done carefully. To completely dry the varnish, dry each layer for at least 2 minutes.
