Shrovetide in Gorky Park will be held under the auspices of totem animals: eagle, wolf, deer and bison. The territory will be divided into four zones with treats, adventures and challenges.
A sports zone will be located on the Pushkinskaya embankment. Everyone will be able to play circular ping-pong and small towns here, learn how to fence and ride a snowboard, complete an orienteering quest or measure the force of an impact. Every day from 11.00 to 21.00 you can play the traditional Russian game "Wake the Bear". Every day at 11.00 a master class on needlework begins: Maslenitsa decor for home textiles, the manufacture of Russian thread horses and even gift bow ties. At 15.00 classes begin for those who are fond of floristry - you can make an oil doll from natural materials.

New Arbat becomes an "intellectual" platform. Two-meter figures of cultural and art workers will walk along the avenue - anyone who wishes will get a chance to be photographed with Kandinsky or Malevich. In the same place, the book fair will turn into a center for contemporary art, where Muscovites can learn more about painting of the 20th century. It is pointless to argue about which recipe for pancakes is "correct" - there are as many recipes as there are housewives. However, as the historian of Russian cuisine Maxim Syrnikov told "MK", ​​some traditions should be taken into account.

- The first mention of pancakes as a must-have delicacy for Shrovetide can be found not earlier than the middle of the 18th century. So it has not been proven whether they were adopted in Russia earlier - maybe, yes, maybe not. However, we can definitely say that the traditional Russian pancake is not wheat. They were baked from buckwheat, rye or oat flour. Wheat pancakes were called "German" - wheat was less available, and it did not take root everywhere, especially in the north of the country. In addition, the question of fillings is open - those that are offered today in the "Pancake week" do not always correspond to the original. Caviar, salmon fish - for health, as well as sour cream and sweets ... But pancakes with meat cannot be served: Maslenitsa is the beginning of fasting, meat-eating week. So they don’t eat meat on Shrovetide, ”Syrnikov explained.

It is buckwheat pancakes that are considered traditional for serving at "mother-in-law's evenings". By the way, the second name of Maslenitsa is Cheese Week, although in the Russian tradition cottage cheese was called “cheese”.
