We will tell you how to organize a fun - Neptune Day. The ideas we have collected will be useful for counselors in children's summer camps, where this holiday is especially popular.

How did the holiday "Day of Neptune" appear?

Neptune Day is a fun summer holiday, which is eagerly awaited by all children who have come to rest in. Neptune Day is usually celebrated in the middle of summer, on July 16. But sometimes, in order to please the children from each shift, the holiday is held several times.

There are several versions of where the tradition of celebrating the Day of Neptune came to us. Once upon a time, the ancient Romans arranged neptunals - a celebration-celebration of the god Neptune, the ruler of the seas and streams, so that he would prevent drought.

Also, the holiday of Neptune is popular among sailors and is celebrated when the ship passes the equator. Once upon a time, superstitious seafarers used to have fun to win the favor of Neptune, induce a tailwind, and quickly cross the equator. Later that day, experienced "sea wolves" began to initiate newcomers into the naval business. And without throwing the newcomers into the water, not a single initiation took place.

Now even those who are not associated with navigation have begun to celebrate the holiday of Neptune: costumed parades, games near water bodies, quests for children and adults, and swimming in nearby rivers and lakes are held in cities. Children especially liked the holiday and became popular in summer camps.

The main traditions of the celebration of the Day of Neptune

There is no single scenario for celebrating Neptune Day, but there are several traditions that all participants in the fun adhere to:

  • the main thing at the holiday is Neptune;
  • devils and mermaids - Neptune's constant retinue, which helps to carry out the performance;
  • after the show, the vacationers are forced to bathe in the nearest reservoir or pour water over the counselors and newcomers.

The holiday itself is accompanied by contests, songs, dances and quizzes. Sometimes the end of the holiday is not complete without a fire on the shore of the reservoir.

Neptune Costumes

Neptune Day, like any other, should be prepared in advance. Children who have come to the camp to take a break from school assignments should not be burdened with complex roles, but rather offer to focus on costumes for the holiday. It is important to remember that Neptune should not be complex, but easily constructed from scrap materials.

Neptune's costume should be the most elegant with the obligatory attributes: a crown, a trident and a beard.

For the god of the seas, it is easy to make, like the trident itself, pasting them with foil. A beard can be made from cotton wool, and an outfit can be made from sheets and colored fabrics.

Jellyfish and fish hanging from the ceiling on strings or fishing lines, seaweed along the walls, anchors and sea waves - all this festive decor is easy to make from cardboard or Whatman paper, but it will perfectly help create a sea mood.

Neptune Day Treats

The food and its presentation at the children's summer camp is entirely dependent on the team of chefs. But if you want to completely immerse the children in the holiday atmosphere, you can be a little creative for the sake of Neptune Day and serve the usual dishes in a festive setting. Plus, it doesn't take much time or effort.

Read on in our dessert master class.

Ideas like this for decorating treats are perfect for a kids' nautical-style party too.

Contests and games for Neptune Day

Whatever your scenario for celebrating Neptune Day at summer camp, you can't do without. Of course, the holiday itself implies that children will prevail. We offer you several contests and relays for the Neptune holiday that will help make this day even more fun.

  1. Diving. Children are divided into teams. Each team is given a pair of fins and a glass of water. The first participant stands on the start line, puts on fins on his feet, picks up a glass of water and raises it above his head, finding himself “under water”. The signal starts moving forward. Having completed the prescribed path, the first "submariner" passes the flippers and the glass to the next one. If water splashes from the glass along the way, it must be added. The winner is the team that swims "under water" the fastest and splashes less water.
  2. Vodokhleb. 1 person is chosen from each squad or team. Its task: to drink water from different positions in 1 minute. If a participant spills water from a glass or cannot drink any more, he is eliminated.

    Provisions for the "Vodokhleb" competition:
    - drink water, holding a glass between the backs of the palms;
    - drink water, holding a glass at the bend of the elbow;
    - drink water by placing a glass on an open palm;
    - drink water, holding the glass with your teeth and not using your hands;
    - drink water through a straw.

  3. Rescuers. Each team must have the same number of participants. For the game you will need an inflatable or a real lifebuoy. Players put on a circle over their heads, put their hands through it and take them off through their legs. Then they step over the circle, leaving it for the next player. Whose rescue team completes the task faster will be the winner.
  4. Water bombs. The balloons fill with water and tie tightly. The bombs are ready. With such projectiles, players can compete in turns or in teams: Throwing water "bombs" on accuracy and range. Shooting down targets. In teams, transmit a water "bomb" overhead at speed. The team whose ball will burst has lost.

Now you have a lot of interesting ideas on how you can have a fun and interesting Neptune Day. Unforgettable summer impressions for you and the kids!

How wonderful it is to feel like the lord of the sea! If Halloween, a masquerade ball or other costume party is on the way, we suggest you reincarnate as an interesting and powerful character - Neptune.

This is a mythical character, and the image of Neptune (or, as it is also called, Poseidon) was formed for most people on the basis of illustrations in books and cartoons.   • Trident;
  • Lush beard.

Making a trident

You need to prepare:

  • Two sheets of thick paper or cardboard;
  • Glue;
  • Stationery knife;
  • Scotch;
  • Foil;
  • The stick is longer.

On thick paper or cardboard, we apply the outlines of our trident, cut it out. Then we apply it to the second sheet to make another one of the same part. We circle, cut out.

To make them denser, we glue adhesive tape, it is possible in several layers. We connect the parts together in all places except the bottom.

This is the place for the stick. We put the resulting trident on it and fix it with tape.

Gently wrap the entire trident, from the stick to the cardboard tip, with foil, gluing the ends for a good hold.

Making a crown

Costumes for the day of Neptune will not do without a crown, which you can make with your own hands. You can make an ordinary crown and decorate it with seashells and pebbles, or borrow the idea of a king's headdress from The Little Mermaid.

How to make a crown of blue material decorated with seashells.

Using a template or pattern, cut out the blue fabric (remember to leave a couple of centimeters in reserve to hem the edges). Cut a crown out of the glue cloth that is similar in shape, and join both parts.

Using a pattern, make a base for the crown out of packing cardboard. Tape around the edge with duct tape to make it look neater and last longer.

Before the upcoming holidays, many parents prefer to buy ready-made carnival costumes for their children. But since the outfits presented in stores cost a lot of money, the question arises: isn't it easier to make a suit with your own hands? Today we will tell you how to make an original tsar costume for a boy at home.

The main details of the image in the outfit of the king

If you remember Russian fairy tales where such a character is found, then you can try to recreate a similar image yourself. But first, let's remember what characteristic details are present in the tsar's costume:

  • mantle;
  • Crown;
  • cropped pantaloons;
  • scepter;
  • shoes with buckles.

Based on this, you can start making a costume for the royal person.

How to sew the mantle of the king

In fact, despite the seeming complexity of the image, everything is quite simple. In order to make the king's mantle yourself, you need to stock up on red or burgundy satin and faux white fur for decoration. Then follow the instructions:

1. Draw a large circle on the fabric with special chalk or soap. Its diameter depends on the height of the child and how long you are going to make the cape.

2. For the neck in the middle of the large circle, draw a smaller circle. Calculate the size in advance for ease of wear.

3. Cut out a large circle first, then a small one. And sew the edges with a sewing machine.

4. Sew the white fur to the hem of the robe. Cut the collar out of the fur and frame the collar with it. A large golden button can be sewn on at the collar joint.

5. You can also paint the royal insignia on the back with fabric paint and paper cut stencils. Just attach the stencil and brush the paint in 2 layers alternately. The mantle for the New Year's costume is ready!

The second version of the mantle

You can go an even simpler way and sew a rectangular cape. To do this, cut a rectangle out of the fabric. Choose the length based on the height of your child, and the width based on its size. After cutting out a large rectangle, wrap the child with it in order to understand exactly whether a given size is suitable or not. If it fits, sew an eyelet to one of the corners. And to the other - a large metal button. Decorate the edges of the cape with faux fur. Along its entire length, it can be decorated with an ornament of sequins, beads or other decorative elements. Another decoration idea is braid. Sew brightly painted tape down the center of your robe or wherever you want.

Making the royal crown

In addition to the mantle, the king's costume has another equally important accessory - the crown. Without her, the image will be unrecognizable.

There are many ways to make a crown with your own hands. Of course, you can buy a ready-made one, but you can also whip up it out of cardboard. But we offer you another option. For it you will need:

  • plastic bottle (5 liters);
  • baking foil;
  • scissors.

1. Cut off the top of the bottle. Select the cut point where the taper begins towards the neck. That is, approximately in half.

2. Since the bottle is usually wedge-shaped, choose a flat piece and cut off the bottom and a little of the top. Then cut the cloves along the top.

3. Measure a piece from the foil, the length of which will be equal to the circumference of the cut bottle. It is better to cut off a few centimeters more, just in case.

4. Carefully, trying not to spoil the thin foil, start wrapping the bottle blank. The teeth of the crown should, as it were, hide under the foil, we will arrange them later.

5. Using your hand to feel for each tooth, make cuts on both sides of each tooth.

6. Fold the edges of the foil to form each of the teeth. They should be neat.

7.Use glue to decorate the crown with rhinestones or artificial stones. You can use bright confetti, they stick well and are inexpensive.

Royal pantaloons

Funny pants for the children's costume of the king can be sewn according to the instructions in the video. It is advisable to choose the fabric from which the mantle was sewn.

King's Scepter

An important attribute of the king's costume for a boy is a scepter decorated with stones and gold. For this you will need a small stick, foil, and lots of jewelry.

First you need to make a small ball of paper. After rolling the paper into a ball, wrap it in foil. Then do the same with the stick. Then fix the ball to one end of the stick and carefully wrap them together with a few more layers of foil. Roll up until you are sure of the strength of the structure. Then it's up to little - decoration. Using a glue gun, glue a lot of decorative rhinestones to the scepter and top. Lay out the beaded and sequin pattern. In the middle of the ball, you can glue a small cross cut from silver or gold cardboard.

Buckle shoes

When making a New Year's costume for the king, do not forget about each of the elements. This rule also applies to shoes. Since buying special shoes for the carnival is quite expensive, we suggest decorating the ones you already have with your own hands.

To do this, you need black ballet flats or soft slippers, satin ribbons, cardboard, glue.

1. Cut two square "donuts" with slightly rounded edges out of gold cardboard.

2. Cut about 12 cm from the red satin ribbon, fold in half and sew along the edge. Then pass it through the cardboard buckle. It should look like a bow.

3. Decorate the buckle with rhinestones or beads by gluing them to both blanks.

4.Use glue to fix the buckles to the shoes.

5. As a decoration, you can use a thin tape, which is sewn to the shoe in the heel area. DIY shoes for the king's costume are ready! At a minimum cost, you will receive another striking accessory that can later be used for other performances.

Suddenly, a pleasant event struck - a masquerade ball! You don't have the time and money to order at the atelier, run around the shops in search of original costumes! What to do?! Well, firstly, to calm down, secondly, to remember that we can all do with our own hands and thirdly to look around. What do we always have at home a lot? Right! Plastic bottles, newspapers, trash bags, boxes. From this we will make the most original carnival costume with our own hands.

From plastic bottles

Mermaid or kikimora

The most beautiful place for a plastic bottle is the bottom. We cut a lot of them at once. They will adorn the hem of the dress, the bodice, and the original crown can be glued from them. For a mermaid or kikimora costume, we need green bottles.

After the bottoms have been cut off, you also need to cut off the necks, and then carefully and evenly cut the rest of the bottle lengthwise into three equal parts. Burn small holes in the narrow part and gather them on a string to form a garland that will become a skirt. Glue, sew or staple the bottoms along the edge of the skirt.

It is better to make the bodice of the dress by sheathing the old T-shirt with details of green plastic. But the crown can be assembled from lush feathers cut from bottles and attached to a hoop or ribbon.

Princess of flowers

The stand-up skirt for this costume is made from a wire frame. Any thin fabric is pulled over it. This is where the difficulties end and the creative part begins. Cut petals from bottles of different colors, collect them into flowers and attach to the skirt. Cut half-liter bottles in a spiral and attach the serpentine to the skirt.

A boy's suit can be made from scrap materials by simply tying two plastic bottles together and attaching them upside down to the astronaut's back using straps. And for our jetpack to be operational, glue the red-orange flaps imitating fire with your own hands into the necks.

Helmet, hat, crown

The largest plastic bottles are simply specially produced in order to make various hats out of them for a hero, an alien, a king, a gentleman, a puss in boots, etc.
