For dry skin, dairy products, basic cosmetic oils, aloe and cucumber juice will be useful.

Oily facial skin and accompanying imperfections are one of the main indications for masks with turmeric.

How to properly prepare for and conduct a session

Turmeric is a potent substance. Official pharmacology recognizes it as a natural antibiotic. In order to avoid unpleasant consequences, you need to know in advance how the session should go, and some general rules:

  • For masks, use only pure turmeric, without any impurities. The bags sold in stores often contain colorings, flavors, MSG to enhance the flavor, and other food additives. Study the composition carefully. Buying from hands is also a big risk. The same rule applies to the rest of the ingredients. All products must be fresh and of high quality. The composition for the mask is prepared anew each time. You cannot store it, even in the refrigerator.

    Turmeric works well with most of the products popular in home cosmetology

  • Prepare the mixture only in a ceramic, glass, enamel container. Upon contact with metal, many vitamins, in particular ascorbic acid, are irreversibly destroyed.
  • Remove decorative cosmetics from your face beforehand. To enhance the effect, you can steam the skin over a container with hot water or herbal decoction for 5-7 minutes.

    Steaming the skin opens the pores and helps the active ingredients penetrate deeper

  • Follow the recipe exactly, achieve a homogeneous mixture. It is a bad idea to increase the amount of turmeric in the mixture or the holding time of the mask, wanting to get the result faster or to make it more pronounced. For very light and thin skin, reduce the spice ratio by about a third. The mask is kept on the skin for no more than 20 minutes and does not cover the eyelids with the composition, unless otherwise indicated in the recipe.
  • Take care of gloves in advance, or get a brush that professional cosmetologists use if you don't want to wash your hands from the mixture later. Protect clothing or wear one that you don't mind getting dirty. Turmeric is a natural colorant that is hardly washed off. Accordingly, it is recommended to apply masks before going to bed so that the skin has time to return to its natural shade during the night.

    Turmeric is a very persistent natural dye, so it is advisable to apply masks with a brush.

  • Don't overuse turmeric masks. The effect appears rather quickly. As a rule, 7–8 sessions with an interval of 3–4 days are sufficient for a noticeable improvement in the condition of the skin. Then, to maintain the result, it is enough to make masks every 7-10 days.
  • After washing off the mask with plain water, herbal decoction or green tea, wipe the skin with tonic: this will help to tighten the pores. The final stage is the application of the cream.

Contraindications and precautions

Any natural food is a potential allergen. Before using the mask, be sure to carry out an appropriate test, especially if you know you have similar reactions. Turmeric is likely not for you if you are allergic to cinnamon or cloves. A small amount of the ready-to-use mixture is applied to the crease of the elbow or the inner side of the wrist. It takes no more than 20-30 minutes for redness, burning or itching to appear.

Allergies can be caused by almost any of the ingredients in the mask.

Despite all the potential benefits, turmeric has contraindications. You will have to give up the idea to take a course of masks if you have:

  • very dry, thin and sensitive skin of the face;
  • severe peeling;
  • acne in the acute stage;
  • multiple inflammations on the face;
  • open wounds, abscesses.

A slight tingling sensation while applying the mask is normal. Severe itching, burning and pain are already beyond the scope. In this case, wash off the mask immediately.

Turmeric has the ability to stimulate blood circulation. Therefore, a noticeable reddening of the skin and an increase in its temperature after the procedure are natural reactions of the body. All this goes away in a few hours, no additional measures need to be taken.

Another common effect of a mask is a yellowish skin tone. It also lasts 2-3 hours. If you urgently need to return to a normal complexion, wipe it with diluted water in a 1: 1 ratio with lemon or grapefruit juice. For dry or sensitive skin, there is another remedy - a mixture of kefir with oatmeal (30-50 g per glass).

The yellowness after the mask with turmeric disappears by itself after a few hours, but you can also speed up the process

Contraindications for the use of turmeric for masks

It should be borne in mind that masks with the addition of turmeric are not suitable for everyone:

1. They should not be applied if you are allergic to cloves, cinnamon and other spices;

2. In case of existing serious skin problems and severe peeling, the use of masks is also not recommended;

3. If the skin is very sensitive and prone to severe redness, it is also not advised to use turmeric, as irritation may intensify.

Features of the use of masks from turmeric

Most of turmeric's health benefits come from curcumin, a powerful natural coloring agent. But it is also the main difficulty of using the spice on the skin, because no one wants to walk with a yellow face after a beauty session. Don't worry, not only will your skin tone not be affected, it will get better. In addition to the problem of staining, there are several other features of using turmeric in masks.

  1. When buying a spice, read the information on the package: the composition should not contain anything except the turmeric itself.
  2. Use a wooden spoon to combine the ingredients in a non-metallic bowl. This will not oxidize the composition.
  3. The mixture will stain whatever it gets on, so wear clothes you don't mind. The same goes for towels and bed linen.
  4. Clean your skin thoroughly before the procedure.
  5. Apply the mask with a cosmetic brush or wear gloves - yellow nails are unlikely to be in your plans.
  6. If you have very light skin, keep the turmeric content of your formulations to a minimum. There will be enough powder on the tip of the teaspoon.
  7. The exposure time of the mixtures is no more than 15 minutes, because our main ingredient has a rather intense effect. For the same reason, don't do these masks more than twice a week.
  8. It is best to remove masks from the skin with tampons or napkins soaked in milk or warm water.
  9. Make masks before going to bed, because the spice not only stains the skin (yellowness will be noticeable for two or three hours), but also warms it up, causing redness. Everything goes away by morning.
  10. For one course, five to seven procedures will be enough.

Of course, the more turmeric in the composition, the more effective the mask is. But the more your skin will turn yellow. Do not be alarmed, but leave everything as it is overnight. In the morning, surprised by the incredible smoothness of the skin, you can return your face to its natural color.

Oily skin need to be cleaned with cotton pads dipped in kefir or lemon juice. After that, wash yourself with warm water and use your regular day cream.

Dry to combination skin wipe with a paste of vegetable oil and flour. Any edible oil and oatmeal, buckwheat or wheat flour will do. Then wash as usual and apply your day cream.

Attention! Do not be alarmed if after using this product the skin turns slightly red - this effect will disappear in 10-15 minutes.

The subtleties of using masks with turmeric

1. Girls with dry skin should not choose recipes for masks with turmeric and other burning ingredients (for example, chili, mustard, etc.). Otherwise, you run the risk of severe inflammation and irritation.

2. Masks are prepared with powdered dry seasoning. In the classic version, the spice is mixed with thick, low-fat yogurt or sour cream. Some housewives prefer to dry the turmeric root on their own, then knead it in a mortar or coffee grinder.

3. Homemade formulations with the addition of seasoning should never be prepared for future use. After mixing the main ingredients, start using immediately. If you disregard the recommendation, the skin will turn very yellow.

4. To get a quality mask of the correct consistency (no lumps), first combine all the bulk ingredients and stir. Only then pour in liquid products (milk, butter, etc.).

5. Masks with turmeric are best done in the summer, when the face is as tanned as possible. If your skin is too light, reduce the amount of turmeric. A pinch is enough for one mask, such a volume will not color the epidermis.

6. If yellowish spots appear on your face after the procedures, you can remove them with citrus juice. Squeeze fresh juice from lemon, grapefruit or lime, soak a sponge in the liquid and wipe the skin.

If you really want to ...

If very scary risk of forming yellow circles under the eyes after turmeric mask, a few helpful tips will allow you to successfully avoid this effect.

  1. Reduce the amount of turmeric in your recipe by exactly half. Add more other components better.
  2. Keep the mask not for 15 minutes, as everyone recommends, but for 7-10 minutes.
  3. After removing the mask, if, nevertheless, yellowness has appeared, make a liquid mixture of kefir and oatmeal and wash thoroughly with it. You can even apply cotton pads soaked in such a solution to your eyes for 3-4 minutes.

If all else fails, you will have to come to terms with yellow spots around the eyes, which usually disappear within 15-20 hours. But next time, it is strongly recommended to look for a different mask for rejuvenating the skin around the eyes: for example, from potatoes or cucumber.

Preparation of the mixture

  1. If you are actively using turmeric in cooking, you know very well that seasoning is different. There is a fragrant, pleasant, appetite-stimulating spice. And there is a powder of unknown origin, which smells strange, has an incomprehensible taste, and even the country of origin is not indicated on the package. Do not spare money for a mask - buy a quality product.
  2. First, turmeric is mixed with the rest of the powdery components (soda, for example).
  3. Then the mixture is gradually diluted with the indicated liquid (water, decoction from a medicinal plant, juice, milk, etc.).
  4. If the recipe says water, of course, we are talking about filtered or mineral water without gas. There’s another little secret: instead, it’s a good idea to use cosmetic ice. Just place it in the center of a container that has already been mixed with the main ingredients and let it melt naturally. The mask will be much softer and more effective.
  5. If the mask contains cosmetic or herbal oils, they are pre-heated in a water bath and added to the turmeric mask last. This rule also applies to honey.
  6. It is better to mix the components with a whisk, without leaving lumps. If they come into contact with the delicate skin around the eyes, the high concentration of curcumin will leave a yellow pigmentation in these areas and may cause irritation. It is quite difficult to wash the blender after such a mixture.
  7. Do not use metal containers to prepare such a mask in order to avoid the formation of oxides, which will spoil the effect of the golden mask.
  8. Make the mask thick, but not runny, so it doesn't run into your eyes.
  9. Please note that the mask is highly dyeing and can stain clothes and hands. Take care of this in advance: carry out all the manipulations with gloves, and it is good to wrap the collar with a towel.

Application

  1. The golden mask is applied to the skin around the eyes with patting movements; you do not need to rub it in too much.
  2. During the procedure, you need to relax and unwind. Better to lie down. If you are engaged in household chores at this time, the mask can simply slip from your eyes to your cheeks.
  3. All basic recipes advise leaving it on for 15 minutes. But if you feel a burning sensation and itching, it is better to stop the procedure and pick up some other means to rejuvenate the skin around the eyes.

Finishing nuances

  1. The turmeric mask is washed off with plain water. Make sure that the mixture does not get into the eyes, otherwise you will get reddening of the mucous membrane as a side effect.
  2. The frequency of application is 1-2 times a week.
