Perhaps the item was bought and did not fit in size. And what cannot be worn as it is can be altered into something completely different, or you can make changes, decorate.

We sew a dress from trousers
Method number 1: flaps or stripes
It is logical that the trousers are pieces of fabric from which the dress can be cut in the same way as from a whole piece of material. Only this will not be a one-piece model, because we are limited to the cut of trousers.
First, we wash the trousers, if necessary, after they have dried, we cut out the fabric at the seams without any flaws (scuffs, stains, clues, holes).
The dress will have to be assembled from small pieces. Choose a pattern with details that will fit on the cuts of your trousers.
Skinny pants alone are hardly enough for a dress, unless you are making one for a little girl. Therefore, you have to combine two, or even more. In this case, the fabric should be approximately the same thickness and, naturally, match in color, texture or pattern.

Trousers were used from the same solid-colored dense stretch fabric of different colors: black and red. The dress was sewn, so to speak, at random, without a pattern. A different black stretch fabric is used for the sleeves, neckline and hem.
1, 2. Cut off the seams along the perimeter of the legs. We get 8 pieces of fabric: 4 black, 4 red.
3, 4, 5. Make the middle of the dress red. We cut a strip for the front and back. If the length of a whole piece is not enough, we make it out of pieces. Embroidery can be done.
6, 7. Cut out the side parts of the front. We attach two side ones to the middle part of the front.
8, 9. Draw the line of the armhole on one side. Cut out. Fold the part in half, circle the armhole on the second part and cut it out. Correct the side line, cut off the excess.
10. We level the bottom.
11. Before the dress is ready.
12. On the black strip of fabric we put the middle part of the back (overlapping edges), draw around the edge of the middle part.
13. This is how we cut out the two side pieces of the back.
14. Sew the middle part of the back with the side ones.
15. We put it on the back in front of the front sides inward, along the front we draw a line of the bottom and armholes on the back.
16. Fold the back in half, face inward, draw a side line.
17. The back of the dress is ready.
18, 19. Sweep the back from the front, folding the details face to face, along the side seams. We measure. We outline the surplus, remove, correct.
20. Cut the sleeve out of unnecessary fabric, apply it, measure it, adjust it.
21. Rip off, cut out according to the markings and get a sleeve pattern. According to these patterns, we already cut out the details from the prepared fabric (4 in total).
22. Sew on one side.
23. We attach to the armhole.
24. Sew the sleeves. We sew them on the bottom.
25. Sew a strip folded in half lengthwise to the neckline. Insert a wide elastic band.

Everything is done very simply. Place one leg over your body and the other over your arm.
Mark the width of the bottom of the sleeve.
Model the line of the sleeve. Stitch from the bottom of the leg to the toe of the middle leg seams.
Trim off excess fabric, trim over the edge.
