What does eyebrow tattoo mean in women. "I got Betrayal, but many people read" Ham "": how people with tattoos on their faces live. Video: Beautiful and ugly face tattoos

Tattoos have long ceased to be associated with the prison past or subcultures even among the older generation, and clogged sleeves are not a hindrance to getting a job. Surprise and heightened interest are still aroused only by tattoos on the most visible parts of the body - for example, on the head or face.

The Village spoke with people who were not afraid to decorate their faces with tattoos, and found out how they live and in what ways they deal with the hostility of others.

Berta, 19 years old

A guard appeared in front of me at the entrance to the GUM
and said: " Sorry,
but you cannot come in,

we don't let those like that»

I got my first tattoo when I was 16. All my friends stuffed something small, and I freaked out, went and made myself two Van Goghs - one for each hand. The last tattoo I got a month and a half ago is the lines on my face. And this Thursday I'm waiting for the next session - I will clog one more eye. I do everything with one master, he comes up with very cool ideas. Although I can draw everything myself, I am an illustrator.

A separate story is connected with eyes and their images. I was 14 years old, I had sleep problems, and even socialization was difficult: after all, those around me do not always understand creative people. I had strange dreams: some kind of humanoids, ladies and gentlemen, dressed in dresses and three-piece suits, and instead of faces they had a white sheet, and they all carried small teapots in their hands. Suddenly, a bunch of eyes of different sizes and different colors begins to open on their white blank faces.

These images haunted me for a long time, and I made my own eye on my forehead last summer. The excess paint came out along with the lymph, and it looked like the eye was crying black tears. At that time, an employer called me, for whom I no longer work, and invited me for an interview.

I come with this eye, oozing black tears, to a studio that makes children's cartoons, and they take me there without any problems. The studio is called "Airplane" - it shoots "Fixies". Apparently, among artists and designers and in the field of film production, everyone does not care what is written on your face - unless you are an actor or producer, of course.

My left arm is completely in tattoos, and I will re-fill my neck - there is a tattoo that my ex-husband got me. A certain amount of tattoos are associated with films, games and music, to which I am very attached. And on my face I have a whole composition - like a visualization of the superego. An eye is an eye, it does not fall asleep and always sees everything, as if being above everything, and never looks into the eyes. I am a very strong Freudian, I even have a portrait of Freud on my arm and a pig in rabbit ears.

The grandmother repeats all the time: "Peel this garbage off your forehead." The first three days, when I filled it, she did not notice at all. I sat next to her, she watched her Petrosyan, I stole chips from her, and everything was fine - despite the fact that I had a fresh bright tattoo on my forehead, still shiny from the cream. But then my grandmother suddenly noticed, and since then she has been repeating this "Ottlepi" all the time.

I don’t know about mom. About 15 minutes before they smeared my face with painkillers, I wrote: "Now I'm doing a tattoo on my face." Then I sent her a photo, my mother answered: "Um, I see." Sometimes people close to them have jerks like "Look at yourself, you've disfigured yourself."

I faced discrimination quite recently. At HSE we organized a private screening of the film at the GUM cinema. My friend and I came to the session. Already at the entrance to the GUM, a guard appeared in front of me and said: "Sorry, but you cannot enter, we do not let such people in." I clarify: "Which ones?" To which he replies that my appearance is unacceptable and considered indecent. But then another guard came up and reluctantly let us in.

My favorite social phenomenon is sociable alcoholics. One day at lunchtime, I went out to eat. I walk up to the cafe, finish smoking, and suddenly a carcass in sky blue jeans and jeans of the same color falls out into the street - a real Marlboro cowboy. He staggers around me near this cafe, shakes him, carries a terrible fumes.

He stops, looks at me for a long time and says: "What, you have an intrapersonal conflict?" It was unexpected - I don't even remember what I said to him. And he, leaving, several times threatened me with a finger. Perhaps it was a failed psychiatrist.

Tattoos are like icons to me. Only on the icon do you show the face of the one who sits upstairs with a beard, and here you depict on yourself what is inside you. If we consider this from the point of view of psychoanalysis, then in all the tattoos with which people continue to cover themselves, you can see a very strong connection with the characteristic features of a person.

In general, I think I can apply for a degree in psychoanalysis. I was even kicked out of art school for "phallic" eggplants. I didn't even know a word like that then, I was 11 years old. We were given the task to draw a still life with eggplant. I started, the teacher came up to me and said: “What did you do? It's obscene! You're actually in a decent establishment. "

Then this woman called other curators, who also made round eyes. And I stand and do not understand anything. It was then that they explained to me that, you see, the eggplants are phallic, that I had drawn something indecent and unacceptable. Since then, I've been wondering if there are any phallic eggplants.

It seems to me that I have found my master tattoo artist and he is perfect for me in all respects. I have a lot of tattoos, a bunch of small ones are connected into one big one, so it's hard to count. There are definitely 30 pieces.

I was given anesthesia a couple of times, but it did not work in three places: on the forehead, on the left cheek, and elsewhere. It seems to me that the more a person has under the skin, the more it hurts. When they got a tattoo on her stomach, she almost died. After that, she moved for two days, bent over in three deaths. It hurt so much that I had to stuff it in two sessions.

A lot has changed for me since the appearance of tattoos on my face. This eye is an amulet that protects from idiots. With these tattoos, you immediately begin to understand how a person treats you, what he thinks of you, why he communicates with you and what he generally needs from you. I was often photographed on the subway - it infuriates me terribly. A photo of my sleepy face even appeared in the Moscow Metro Fashion public. But my complexes became much less. A face tattoo is definitely the solution to socialization problems.

Kirill, 20 years old

Last time, when my girlfriend and I were counting (and it was six months ago), I had 70-something tattoos. There are eight of them on the face

When I first decided to get a tattoo, I was 15 years old. Then I was dating a girl - those great teenage feelings. When we parted, I decided to fill her full back with a portrait. I found out how much it costs and realized that I would rather abstain. About a year has passed. I had a birthday, I found free money, and I thought: "Damn, but I still want a tattoo."

As a result, I got a tattoo on my stomach - a rose with wings, the size of two palms. It turned out 2,500 rubles, but I bargained up to 2,400 rubles. I got this tattoo done for five hours. It is, of course, small, but due to the fact that it includes many colors, it took a long time to make it. After the third hour, I had the feeling that they were driving me back and forth with a knife in the intestines. I say to the master: "Let me give you 2,400 rubles, and for 100 rubles I will buy cigarettes, because this is hell." After that, I vowed to ever get a tattoo. But then I changed my mind, of course.

The most painful thing was getting a tattoo on the Adam's apple. As soon as the contours began to fill in brown, I felt bad - I went to the toilet and vomited with pain. After the session, I was supposed to meet with a friend. I leave the subway car, stand in the center of the hall and see my friend going down the steps. I walk in her direction, but then the pain from the session catches up with me, I turn off and fall to the floor - I lay there for about five seconds. But the tattoo healed in just two days.

The last time my girlfriend and I counted (and that was six months ago), I had 70-something tattoos. There are eight of them on the face. There will be three more soon. I want to somehow be more interesting to beat the person on the left cheek, otherwise he just looks like a big spot. I got the last tattoo on my knee about a month ago, and also a lotus on my forehead. I want to somehow put everything in order, because I have been beating tattoos for four years now. And from them you can notice the changes in my philosophy of life - as in the painting of some artist.

Recently I had an interesting story related to one tattoo. My friends and I went to Yalta for the festival this summer. After him we hitchhiked to Krasnodar. An acquaintance lives with my friend in Rostov, and we stayed with him for a day. As a result, we went on a spree, and I met a tattoo artist. The next day I wake up and go get a tattoo. I look at the sketches of the master and understand that everything is beautiful, but not catchy. And then he takes out a dusty sketch from somewhere, and then from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, instead of the main character, a bat in glasses, with a mouthpiece, in a Panama hat. And I think: "And that was the trip like that."

Initially, I had small tattoos on my face, which I did at the age of 17, but literally six months ago I covered them all with large works. Mom was very worried and is still worried. She, of course, wants me to bring them together, but she's already calmer. On the other hand, she sees that everything in my life is working out a little bit. She knows what my goals are and what my values are. And my mother is proud of me. Of course, my sister sometimes teases. She has one tattoo that she got when she was 16 - a hieroglyph on her shoulder blade. But that's all.

In general, every day there are different situations associated with tattoos. For example, I read a book and feel: someone is watching. I automatically turn my head to the right and meet someone's gaze. Sometimes I notice some kind of rejection from others, but this, I believe, is a projection of your inner state. What you radiate is what you get.

If you noticed that some kind of dislike is coming towards you, it means that you yourself allowed yourself to radiate it. I try to be neutral about this. But there have been different cases. For example, once on my birthday, a non-Russian wanted to beat me right in the subway. Says: "I'll drop you now." And literally after three minutes of conversation, he gave me a Nuts chocolate bar and got out of the car.

Recently I ran into a problem. The girl and I came to look at the apartment for rent. The hosts there are Armenians, very kind, interesting and hospitable. But before us, literally ten minutes later, two girls came on the same issue. We immediately decided to take an apartment and were ready to pay for a couple of months in advance. And the owners say: "No, the girls came first after all."

Then we went to see the next apartment - "kopeck piece" on Mosfilmovskaya. On the phone, the owner of the apartment spoke to us in a friendly manner. And when we met, he immediately became taciturn. He began to merge: "The owner is my wife, I will talk to her and give an answer until the morning." Naturally, he refused, but he and his wife argued that, after all, we are too young a couple for them and they would like to rent an apartment to more serious people. Although I work, and the girl has no problems with money either. After all, no one will say openly what the reason is. And whoever says it, I will shake hands.

At first, tattoos were just decoration for me. Two years later, I realized that they still contain some meaning. Began to be more selectively hammered, to look at the quality. When you do tattoos for a long time, and then consciously look at yourself in the mirror, you see the course of your life. In the last year I started to get tattoos very rarely, but more serious.

There are a couple of foreign tattoo artists that I would like to get to someday. In general, if it is really needed, fate itself will turn out so that I will get to them. As the ancient myths say, you do not choose the artifact, but the artifact chooses you. With tattoos, too, something similar.

Dasha, 27 years old

One day one grandmother, seeing me in the minibus, decided to wash with holy water

The first tattoo I made on the left hand, and the last one on the nose, several dots. There is no hidden meaning in them. It was just that a party was planned for the evening at the "Arma", and I wanted to paint my face. I took a black marker right at work, drew dots at my nose and walked like that all day, and by the evening I realized that I want them forever. That evening I went and did it.

Almost all my tattoos appear like this - I never think for a long time. Sometimes I draw them myself, but I can't reach some places. If I see that the master has drawn something cool, I fill it in right there. There are people who come to the salon, and it begins: "Well, I don't know what I want." If you don’t know, then you don’t need it. This does not happen to me.

Now I work in the "Trajectory" store. I specifically choose a job where there will be no problems with tattoos, and in my resume I immediately mention that I have tattoos. When people see me, of course, they are surprised.

I don't know exactly how many tattoos I have. More than thirty. But I still have many places on my body without tattoos. For example, the back is clean. But this is for now. I have six or seven tattoos on my face, including white ones. They might even glow in the dark under some kind of fluorescent light - I haven't checked.

I got my first tattoo when I was 18. Then it was not as popular as it is now, the tattoo was small, and at the university everyone was fine with it. They said it was cool, asked if it hurt. Yes, it hurt, the wrist is a terrible place to tattoo. In extreme cases, there is a pain reliever that helps. Until recently, I have not used it and have always been against it. I thought: "This is a tattoo, you have to endure."

But one day I decided to get a tattoo practically on my ribs, it lasted an hour, and it was the worst hour of my life. I was never anointed with painkillers, and I greatly regretted it. It hurt so much that I didn't even look at the tattoo when it was finished. It was just as painful to do it on the palms.

When I beat my first tattoo, my mother gave money for it, and I assured her that there would be only one tattoo and that it would not really be visible. But then the second, the third and so on followed - already on a global scale. Mom, of course, was very upset, I was even ashamed. And until now she constantly reproaches me: "You said that this is the last one!" And dad scoffs, teases all the time, jokes about tattooed people. He says that only prisoners and bad aunts and uncles do this.

Maybe the fact is that dad is an old school man and rather conservative. Still, my mother, probably, is more adequate to my tattoos. And my sister, for example, really likes them, although she always says that I am sick. She has children, my nephews, they love to look at me.

Personally, I do not enter any parties with an interest in tattoos, but I have another get-together - skaters, and there are a lot of tattooed guys among them. Not on the same scale as me, of course. Often they look and say: "Lord, how do you live with that on your face?"

Maybe I began to pay a lot of attention to this, but I don't like the way tattoos are treated in Russia. It’s terrible when you are driving in transport and trying not to notice the looks. They openly stare at you and shake their heads - they say, disfigured yourself, it's a nightmare. I try not to react to this in any way. But there are also people who like it: they raise their thumbs up and say: "Wow, cool tattoos!" (or something similar). Not a day goes by without questions about face tattoos from the series "Did it hurt or not?" and how white tattoos are made.

Once one grandmother, seeing me in a minibus, decided to wash herself with holy water. I hear the phrase "mutilated myself" quite often. Again, I don't care, I have done and will continue to do tattoos, because I like it. Probably, I like the process itself even more than the result.

I get tattoos in the salons of my friends. But not free: I appreciate their time, and the material is also quite expensive. Although, of course, I beat at a discount. Earlier, it seems to me, tattoos were more expensive than now. My dearest tattoo cost me 20 thousand. It is all colored, takes up half of the caviar. There is a sloth with a skateboard, my friend Dima Tabachny made it for me - he draws very cool.

Tattoos for me are like marks of some periods of my life. Now I'm planning to make a black sleeve on my right arm. I just want more black. This is my favorite color, and in general it looks cool.

My life changed a lot after I got my face tattooed. Probably no one looks at other people like that. I’m even glad that winter has come, when you can relax and put on gloves so that no one is staring. Plus the hood also helps. They say to me: "Well, how do you live with so many tattoos - they probably bore you?" No, they don’t get bored, I don’t even notice them when I look at myself. This is a part of me.

Vitaly, 24 years old

To work it seems they just took me for tattoos, because I honestly do not cut my hair very well

I got my very first tattoo at the age of 17 - on my arm, a heart with birds. Then, of course, he scored her with other tattoos. I did the last two last month - I finished off my neck and made another one on my face, in the form of a knife. Besides that, I have a black hand and a lot of stuff. In general, I am packed quite tightly - only the chest (it is in the contours) and the back are clean. The arms and legs are already fully occupied.

I always get tattoos for different people. Basically, these are some close acquaintances or friends - some work in salons, some beats at home, some in basements. I never went to any luxury salons - only to my own, to trusted guys.

It is important for me that a person understands the matter, that it would be pleasant to communicate with him. The last time, for example, I got a tattoo from a female colleague: she recently started tattooing, but I wondered how she hit.

I can't say exactly how many tattoos I have. For example, if the hand is all black up to the elbow, how much is it? One? I don't count them.

I got my first face tattoo three years ago. Now I have four of them. Mom still scolds me. And she doesn't even know about the last tattoo. Mom is very negative about tattoos, but she had to put up with it. Dad doesn't care, he wants a tattoo himself, but mom forbids him. My brother also got a tattoo, but he doesn't want one anymore.

Most of my friends are tattooed too, plus I hang out with people who like punk rock. Probably a tattoo is a subcultural solution. Although, perhaps, this is only in our country, in Russia. In Europe, there are police officers with clogged sleeves, and a presidential candidate with tattoos on his face - he ran in the Czech Republic. There, a tattoo is a common thing.

I never thought about what tattoos mean to me. Most likely, this is a decoration. At first everything was very thought out and each of my tattoos meant something, but then I began to just choose a suitable place and image - so that it looked normal. By the way, I do not divide people into tattooed and non-tattooed people. A tattoo is a decoration. Someone wears chains, someone inserts gold teeth, someone cuts off their ears.

Recently I was hitting a tattoo - and it went a little bit on another - and it was quite noticeably painful. I don't know - maybe it depends on the hand of the master. I used to hammer in old tattoos, and nothing. The most painful thing was to do on the chest and on the head. There are bones - probably because of this. The neck is also unpleasant, but tolerable. They say the ribs hurt a lot. My friend, in front of me, was stuffing her stomach with one girl, she lay and cried. Probably, the point is that there are muscles.

At the sight of me, grandmothers in all seriousness cross themselves. About once a month there are conversations from the series "Oh, granddaughter, what have you done to yourself?" But they are often praised. On this score, there were a million dialogues - all of the same type: “Where are you hitting? Why are you hitting? "

After I hammered my hands and neck, I had no doubts about my face. Now, if I first decided to score a face, and then everything else, then yes - I probably would have doubted. When I was hammering my brushes, I was offered a job in the authorities - an assistant investigator. It was clear that one could only get a job without tattoos. I thought it over and realized that I didn’t want to work in the police, which I don’t really like.

Last summer I started working as a barber, and before that I was a bartender. It seems that they took me to work only for tattoos, because, to be honest, I do not cut my hair very well. Haha, joke. There used to be circus performances, freak shows - I'm also something like a local freak at my work.

The widespread popularity of face tattooing falls on the 60s of the last century. This is due to the movement of subcultures such as punks and rockers. At the end of the last century, piercing was very popular, which subsequently gave way to face tattoos.

Not every even the brightest creative person is ready to decorate his own face with a tattoo, because this area cannot be hidden under clothes. Therefore, in addition to tattoos of the face, images are popular, stuffed on the neck and behind the ear - where you can hide the tattoo with hair. Cosmetic tattooing of a woman's face is also common. It can be used to correct the shape of the lips, eyebrows and eyelids. The difference between this type of art and traditional tattooing is that it is intended only to emphasize the natural beauty of a woman's face.

The history of facial tattoos

The tradition of applying distinctive signs and decorative elements to the body originated several millennia BC. The first mention of them can be found when acquainting with the peculiarities of the Polynesian, Eskimo and Mayan culture. At first, such images were dashed, curved and straight lines. They indicated belonging to the tribe and the status of a person. As a decorative element, tattoos originated in ancient India.

In most ancient cultures, warriors were distinguished by applying a tattoo on the face. Their main goal was to intimidate the enemy. It was believed that the image on the face protected its wearer from evil spirits and was a talisman to attract good luck.

Pros and cons of face tattoos

The undoubted advantage of a successfully applied tattoo on the face is its individuality. The imprinting of the image on the face should be entrusted to a highly qualified master. Such a tattoo indicates a bold, extraordinary and creative person. With this type of decoration, you can hide defects or scars.

As with all tattoos, images on the face are characterized by negative aspects. These include:

  • painful sensations during the application procedure, because the skin of the face is sensitive and thin;
  • an unprofessional tattoo can ruin the appearance;
  • facial features tend to change with age, which can distort the image;
  • an overuse of facial tattoos can limit access to some serious jobs.

Before choosing a tattoo on your face, you should seriously consider your choice.

Ideas and meanings of face tattoos

Images on the face are not conventionally divided into male and female. Many fragile girls choose male tattoos for themselves. A graceful tattoo, applied by a talented master, is not capable of spoiling the appearance. In addition, the experience of a salon artist will help determine the choice of a tattoo sketch and the exact place of application. Girls rarely choose a tattoo on their face, but sometimes images on a woman's face can be brighter and bolder than on a man's.

As a sketch for a face tattoo, you can choose laconic monochrome drawings, tribal paintings in the form of ornaments, ethnic elements, inscriptions, stars, flowers, symbols of the zodiac signs and large volumetric images. They can be abstract or realistic.

Small tattoos can be applied along the contour of the brow arches. You can also place labels here. Drawings and ornaments for tattoos can be with or without meaning.

The meaning of some symbols that can be used to apply to the face:

  • diamond, diamond - a symbol of constancy, honesty and inflexibility;
  • flames - rebirth, renewal;
  • the pentagram pointing up is a symbol of protection and harmony;
  • a pentagram with rays directed downward is a symbol of Satan, it is better not to apply such an image;
  • owl is the personification of wisdom and knowledge;
  • crown - power, high status, love;
  • the sun is a symbol of life, light and creation;
  • feather - lightness, peace and quiet.

There are many ideas for face tattoos. In order not to be disappointed in your choice years later, you need to seriously approach the choice of a theme and a tattoo parlor. Getting rid of a tattoo on a face is very difficult and troublesome. Therefore, it is necessary to weigh the pros and cons before deciding how to decorate your face.

Photo of tattoo on the face for men and women

We can assume that the custom of decorating the face with tattoos came to us from the Maori tribe and the peoples of Polynesia, who used them to intimidate the enemy and developed a special way of applying tattoos to the skin. However, times have changed, and tattoos are increasingly used as a way to attract the attention of others. Why are face tattoos becoming more and more popular today among both girls and guys?

The historical significance of facial tattoos

From time immemorial, male and female facial tattoos have had two strictly defined functions:

  • violent - tattoos were forcibly applied to slaves or prisoners; served as punishment for serious crimes or played the role of a stigma;
  • aesthetic - noble or wealthy representatives of the tribe put tattoos on their faces in order to openly demonstrate their position in society and their occupation.

Why are face tattoos getting stuffed today?

If in ancient times small tattoos on the face carried a completely definite message, today the motives of the person applying the tattoo on the face are very diverse and often defy logical interpretation, as can be seen from the photo.

Face tattoos, after long oblivion, gained new popularity around the 1960s, when punks and other radical subcultures ruled the show. Their representatives expressed their protest through tattoos, spat in the face of social and aesthetic norms.

In the modern world, carriers of painting on the face are most likely trying to draw attention to their person with the help of a tattoo on the part of others, and also try to express themselves in this way and direct their creativity in a productive direction.

Girl with tattoos on her face

Important! If you decide to decorate your face with a tattoo, while choosing a beautiful and outstanding sketch, then be prepared that not every passer-by will share your opinion on the aesthetics of your tattoo, because the concept of beauty is quite subjective. They may point a finger at you, be frightened, or, conversely, you may be invited to talk to their "get-together"; the emotions of others may be different, but you will definitely not be left without attention.

Tattoos on girls' faces

Oddly enough, but girls, keeping up with men, also share a love for tattooing on the face. And there are no boundaries of female courage: they can almost completely "hammer" the face, which not every young man will dare to do. Moreover, the sketches of the ornaments are sometimes also striking in their brutality: a fragile, sweet girl can get herself a tattoo like Mike Tyson's!

However, the tattoo on the face of the girl is a rather controversial topic, as well as the male options. Not every master will agree to fill a girl with a tattoo on such an open and remarkable place. There have been cases when girls sued tattoo artists because they were not satisfied with the result. Indeed, it is very difficult to make any changes to such a tattoo, therefore, after application, the result will most likely be final.

Tattoo on the face with inscriptions

I find tattoos on my face very attractive, I even filled myself a year ago with 3 small stars above my eyebrow. Despite the fact that others sometimes behave inappropriately, when they see my tattoo, they constantly ask why I did it and how I was later hired to work. This is my body and face, and I do whatever I want with it, and whoever doesn't like it - let them not look!

Celebrities with tattoos on their faces

Many celebrities adorn their bodies with tattoos, but the most desperate ones apply them to their faces. One of the pioneers was the famous boxer, Mike Tyson, who decorated the corner of his eye with an intricate pattern, due to which Mike was later compared to a brave warrior of the Maori tribe.

Nowadays, Latin American and African American rappers have a special love for face tattoos, depicting various inscriptions with meaning, "teardrops" and other small symbols on their faces.

Does it hurt or not to decorate your face with tattoos?

Tattoo artists are often asked such a question, to which one can answer without hesitation that the process of tattooing the face is quite painful and unsafe... Of course, it all depends on the individual tolerance of pain and the positivity of your mood: even if a person tolerates pain perfectly, but at the time of applying a tattoo on his face, he is terribly afraid, then be sure that the tattoo site will hurt, because fear greatly increases the pain.

A tattoo in general and a tattoo on the face in particular is a rather ancient type of decoration of the human body. Now body tattoos are very common, but not everyone will decide to apply a drawing on their face. However, there are very harmless tattoo options that will not spoil the look, but only add piquancy to the look. Even a woman's face with a cute little tattoo can look interesting and attractive.

History of face tattoos

To better understand the meaning of such a phenomenon as a tattoo on a face, it is worth plunging into history a little. The application of dot patterns, lines, geometric shapes, and sometimes more complex ornaments was used by men, less often women, of the ancient tribes of Africa, America, Australia and other wild places. Tattoos were designed to reflect belonging to a particular tribe, to be a sign of the status of a man in his environment. The leaders decorated their bodies and faces with impaled drawings, the warriors used tattoos to intimidate enemies, disguise. In addition, men applied tattoos to demonstrate their achievements in battle or in the hunt.

For women, body and face tattooing served more to denote belonging to a tribe and for aesthetic purposes (by the way, it happened, and vice versa, women deliberately disfigured their faces so as not to be taken away by strangers). Tattoos on the face and body often carried an encrypted meaning that was understandable to fellow tribesmen. In addition, wearable designs could have ritual, cult, protective significance.

Modern face tattoos

Why do modern people get tattoos on their faces? After all, we are not warriors or hunters, and the status is confirmed by completely different things. After all, a tattoo cannot be hidden under clothes, if they suddenly become inappropriate, you cannot get rid of them if you stop liking them. Basically, of course, tattoos on the face are the prerogative of young people belonging to certain subcultures, and they are not particularly widespread. However, there are, for example, representatives of creative, free professions, or just people with a special, original worldview and train of thought, for whom a tattoo on the face becomes a vivid way of self-expression.

Another reason for applying drawings on the face may be the desire to hide any aesthetic defect - a scar, a burn scar or an ugly age spot. Perhaps it will be more pleasant to see a beautiful drawing in the mirror, rather than a cosmetic flaw.

More often men decide to get a tattoo on the face, women - much less often. Still, girls are more sensitive to their faces and tend to change their appearance, style, image, and a tattoo is forever. And a girl with a face tattoo looks more shocking in the public eye than a man.

Since face tattoos are not very popular, not every master will undertake such work. And given the danger and complexity of the procedure, only a very experienced tattoo artist, of course, when it comes to high-quality tattoos, will be able to perform it.

Is it worth “stuffing” a tattoo on your face?

Obviously, before deciding to get a tattoo on your face, you should think carefully about the disadvantages of such a decoration. And there are definitely more of them than advantages.

  • Tattoos on the face cannot be hidden by clothes, they will always be in sight, any person from the environment will be able to see them, even if in some particular case it is undesirable.
