Coat pattern for a girl: the best options for young ladies. Coat pattern for a girl: spring update of the little princess's wardrobe and a detailed master class on building a pattern for the base of a baby coat with photo instructions Coat patterns for girls

All parents want their child to have all the best - it concerns toys, household items, food, of course, and clothes. This is especially true of little princesses, because women have a desire to dress fashionably, beautifully, stylishly from birth. Therefore, in this article we will look at how to sew a coat for a girl with our own hands. We will also build the patterns ourselves to make the work process as easy as possible.

How to make a pattern yourself?

Making any garment starts with building basic pattern, which means that it is necessary to start with this. To sew a coat for a girl with your own hands, for beginners, first of all, you should take the following measurements:

  • Length of the product.
  • Chest circumference.
  • Back width.
  • The length of the sleeve.
  • Neck circumference.
  • Hand girth.
  • Fist girth.

Back detail

The construction of the drawing of the backrest part occurs according to the following scheme:

  1. Backrest part manufacturing. Take a sheet of paper, build a right angle on the left side of it, mark its top with point A. Then, downward from it in a straight vertical line, set aside the value corresponding to the length of the coat with an increase of 1 cm. Put mark B, draw a horizontal line to the right of it. Then again, from it, put down a segment equal to a third of the circumference of the neck and plus 2 cm, mark point C, draw a horizontal line from it to the right. So we got the back width line.
  2. Neck cutout decoration. Down from the top of A, set aside 1 cm and put a mark, to the right a segment, the length of which will be a sixth of the neck girth and plus 0.5 cm, mark it. Using a template, connect all these marks to get a neckline.
  3. Shoulder cut. To the right of vertex C, measure a segment equal to half the width of the back, add 1 cm and mark point D. From it, draw a perpendicular upward with a dotted line to the intersection of point A with the horizontal. Measure down horizontally with a dotted line 3 cm, mark point E. Connect it with an inclined line with a neckline located on the horizontal A, continue beyond point E by 1 cm, mark with point E1.
  4. Side cut design. To the right in a straight line from mark C, set aside a segment equal to a quarter of the chest circumference, add 1 cm, designate as D1. Draw a perpendicular downward from it with a dotted line until it intersects with horizontal B. Along the perpendicular downward from D, set a segment equal to a sixth of the neck circumference, put a point F, which will indicate the depth of the armhole. To the right, extend the horizontal line B beyond the dotted line by 6 cm and put a point G. Connect G and F, as a result - we will get the required line.
  5. Armhole line decoration. Connect F and E1 with a flowing line across vertex D using a template.
  6. Bottom decoration. Along the side cut, set aside 2 cm upwards from point G, make a mark, connect it smoothly with vertex B. Continue line B by 3 cm, mark B1, connect it to the cut-out point of the neckline along segment AB, we get a line pointing to the middle of the back.

Shelf detail drawing

The pattern for this part is built as follows:

  1. On the right side of our sheet, draw a right angle, mark the vertex as A. Draw straight lines from it vertically and horizontally, the so-called auxiliary. Lay down the length of the coat horizontally down, add 3 cm, mark B. To the left of it, draw a horizontal line. Down from mark A, set aside a vertical segment corresponding to a third of the neck circumference, add 3 cm, put C, draw a horizontal line to the left of it.
  2. Neck decoration. Build the width of the neck using the already known scheme. To build its depth, set aside a straight line equal to the sixth part of the neck circumference down from the top of A and add 2 cm. Put a mark indicating the depth and width of the neck, using a template, smoothly connect them.
  3. Shoulder decoration. Draw an auxiliary line with a dotted line, starting from the cut of the neck of the front 4 cm below straight A.From the mark of the neckline, which is on line A, set aside along an inclined segment equal to the length of the shoulder minus 0.5 cm to the point of intersection with the dotted line, indicate the vertex D ...
  4. Making side cuts. Set aside the value corresponding to one-fourth of the chest circumference plus 4 cm horizontally C, set the designation E. Draw from it perpendicularly down to the top of B in a straight line. Along the same vertical, set aside a segment from the top of E, equal to the sixth of the neck girth with an increase of 2 cm, put a mark F, indicating the depth of the armhole. To the left of the auxiliary perpendicular, extend line B by 8-10 cm, put a mark G, connect F and G with a straight line at an angle to get a side cut.
  5. Armhole decoration. Drop the perpendicular from mark D to the intersection of line C with line. Set aside 1 cm to the right of the resulting mark, mark E1, indicating the width of the shelf. Smoothly connect the vertices F, E1, D.
  6. Rounded bottom design. Set aside 2.5 cm up the side cut from the top of G, then connect this mark smoothly with the mark B, straight AB will appear in the middle of the shelf.

Building side slices

To sew a coat for a girl, we will definitely have to build a pattern for these parts. For this:

  1. It is necessary to continue the neckline and horizontal B to the right by 5-7 cm.
  2. Then connect the resulting marks with a vertical, indicating the side cut.
  3. Further from it to the left, a segment of 1 cm is laid down at the level of the neckline, a mark H is placed.
  4. It should be connected smoothly with the side cut.

As a result of such simple manipulations, you will get a coat model with a round or straight collar.

Round collar pattern:

  1. Connect the details of the shelves and backs along the shoulder cuts, draw a contour on paper along the lines of the middle of the shelves and the neckline.
  2. Remove the patterns of the shelves and back, build a collar within the resulting contour.
  3. A cut of its stand can be formed by a contour along the neckline, which is located between the mark indicating the middle of the back (A) and the mark of the middle of the shelf (B).

Sleeve pattern

A sleeve pattern is being built within one mesh, because it consists of two parts:

  • the top, which is slightly larger in size;
  • the lower one is smaller.

Procedure:

  1. First, you need to build a rectangle ABCD so that its length matches the length of the sleeve, the width is equal to one third of the chest circumference and plus 2 cm.
  2. Then the line AC is divided in half, this place is designated by the letter E.
  3. Then we go down along the perpendicular to the point of intersection with line B.
  4. A segment equal to AE is laid down vertically from vertex A, puts
  5. mark F, then a horizontal line is drawn from it to the intersection with the segment CD. Down vertically from mark C, a segment corresponding to half of the segment AF is laid, a mark G is set, then a horizontal line is drawn to the left of it until it intersects with line E.

As you can see, there are no difficulties in building a pattern, if you follow the instructions, step by step. Now, next we will consider how to sew a coat for a girl with our own hands, in order to dress our beloved daughter in new, stylish, beautiful outfits, to model products of any style on our own.

How to sew a baby coat yourself?

A coat for a girl with your own hands can be sewn according to the following scheme:

  1. Start working from the back half. Divide the child's height in half. Align the end of the dart with the dividing point.
  2. Cut the back half from the sprout to the end of the dart, just short of the edge, about 3 mm. Close the dart. Move the center line of the back from the fold by 7 cm. Increase the width of the cutting element at the bottom due to the fold by 15 mm. Cut out two pieces.
  3. Cut out the two gear parts, taking into account the allowances. Mark the locations of the pockets.
  4. Cut out the sleeves.
  5. Attach the center of the collar to the fold, cut out two parts from the lining and base material.
  6. Sew darts on the chest and shoulders, sew a one-sided fold.
  7. At the entrance to the pocket to the front halves, thread the lobes of fabric. Finish the pockets.
  8. Iron the product.
  9. Finish the lining, sides, stitch the coat.
  10. Finish the sleeves, sew them into the armholes.
  11. Trim the collar and sew into the neckline.
  12. Make eyelets, sew on buttons.
  13. Finish units and elements of the product.

Needlewomen know how much you can save Money if you sew clothes for children yourself. Naturally, in order for the products to turn out not worse than on the market, and sometimes even better quality in terms of tailoring and the materials themselves, a certain experience is required. But it's all about practice. Therefore, it's time to arm yourself with sewing accessories, fabrics, accessories and useful tips on how to sew outerwear, and get to work.

This article will look at how a coat pattern for a girl is built, the main ones at the template stage, and also give advice on the choice of materials and their processing.

Stage one: taking measurements

In order for the coat to fit well on the child's figure, it must be sewn taking into account the characteristics of the physique. Individual tailoring is good because measurements taken directly from a person are always used, and not generally accepted dimensional standards. Ideal for a girl should be based on basic measurements such as back width, chest girth, and abdominal or hip girth (whichever is greater). It is by these parameters that the fit of the product is usually assessed. In the shoulders, the thing should not be too large, and on the tummy it should be wide enough so that you can wear a warm sweater under the coat without any problems.

Of course, additional measurements will be required, such as chest height, sleeve length and product length, shoulder width.

Stage two: building the basis for the pattern of the shelves

Patterns baby coat for a girl, they are built on the basis of a rectangle, where the horizontal side is equal to the chest girth + 5 or 7 cm for a free fit. The vertical sides must correspond to the length of the product.

  • Determine the level of the chest line in accordance with the measurement of "chest height".
  • Further, on this horizontal line, mark half of the measurement "back width" + an increase in free fit and put a point. Then determine the size of the armhole. To do this, divide the chest girth by 4 and postpone the resulting value in the drawing from the point set earlier.
  • The remaining segment will be the front shelf area.
  • Below the chest line by about 25-30 cm (the exact value can be measured from the chest to the convex tummy or thighs), another horizontal line is drawn, on which ½ measurements of a larger girth (hips or abdomen) are laid.
  • Further, in the area of the armhole, they find the middle and put a point from which the side seam will descend.
  • On the line of the hips or abdomen, on each vertical side of the rectangle, ½ the measure of a larger girth (hips or abdomen) + 5 or 7 cm is laid for a free fit. After, starting from the midpoint in the armhole area and to these marks, straight lines are lowered, which slightly expand to the bottom of the product.
  • Next, you should again go up to the upper side of the rectangle, set aside 5-6 cm from the upper corner for the neckline, from the resulting point, set aside the “shoulder length” measurement and deepen the neckline by 1.5 cm for the back and 5 cm for the front shelf. Shoulder seams for the front are drawn similarly to the back.
  • Next, they go to the armhole, where you need to connect the extreme points of the shoulder seams with the middle set earlier. In this case, all sharp corners should be leveled. In order to correctly form the armhole, auxiliary verticals will be required: from the point of the width of the back to the top and from the point of the border of the armhole and the front shelf and to the top.

Additional model details

The patterns of the children's coat for the girl do not have darts for the chest, which somewhat facilitates the construction. If you plan to sew a product with darts, additional measurements will be required, such as the dart solution, which is measured from the center to the center of the chest. Half of this measurement is laid on the drawing along the chest line from the side of the front shelf, a perpendicular is raised from the resulting point. On the shoulder line, 3-5 cm recede to the edge of the shoulder and lower the line to the starting point. After that, the shoulder line is extended by a similar distance and the armhole line is corrected. This coat pattern is suitable for a teenage girl. If desired, the dart can be transferred to the armpit by cutting the piece of paper until both vertical dart lines are aligned to form a flat plane on the paper.

Stage three: building the sleeve

The pattern of a children's coat for a girl (3 years old, more or less is not important) can be with a one-piece sleeve. Such a pattern is built like a "bat", where the shoulder seams are extended to the required length and the lower seam of the sleeve is pulled out of the side cut, rounding off the detail in the armpit area. With this cut, the bottom can be well flared or, conversely, narrowed, as in cocoon coat models.

To build a set-in sleeve template, you will need ready-made shelf patterns. They are folded along the shoulder cuts, put on a sheet of paper of sufficient size for the drawing and circle a whole armhole, denoting the joint. The upper okat resembles a circle that needs to be drawn and closed. After that, at the junction point, the line is raised by 1 cm.Further, a horizontal line is drawn along the lower border of the circle and, dropping along the circumference, the edges of the sleeve are nullified. In this case, the length of the armhole of the shelves should be taken into account so that the sleeve fits into it without problems.

Stage four: modeling

When a template coat pattern for a girl is ready, it's time to try your hand at being a designer and outline the model lines. These can be pockets, zippers, inserts, embossed seams, embroidery, decorative frills, and more. To make it easier to imagine the final version, it is better to draw a sketch of the product. This will help to determine both the size of the folds from top to bottom, and the length of the sleeve with its model features. The sleeve can be decorated with a bow or made three-quarters, complementing it with a high knit.

Material selection

There is so much choice in fabric stores that sometimes it is quite difficult to decide which fabric to give preference to. Here one should proceed not only from the style of the product, but also from the purpose of outerwear. Either it will be demi-season, or winter outerwear. The pattern of a coat for a girl described above is suitable for both options, but the differences may be in the allowances for free fitting, insulation and, of course, the main canvas used. It can be a raincoat fabric, cashmere, polar or others

As a heater, you can choose holofiber, synthetic winterizer or synthetic winterizer. For interior decoration, it is better to take a dense lining fabric and separately "figure out" the lining on the sheepskin. This will allow you to put on the thing both in freezing temperatures and in decent frost.

Easy to sew

The manufacturing process is not so complicated in fact, so we put aside all doubts and sew. The pattern of a coat for a girl is also built quite easily, a little diligence - and everything will work out! A little imagination for decoration, a few strokes in the form of embossed seams or stitching - and an excellent product will come out. Finished pattern a coat for a girl can be used both for sewing a summer cardigan and for a windbreaker. Correct the length a little and think over additional details in a hood and cuffs - and a whole collection of children's clothing is ready!

What kind of parents do not want their child to have all the best, from toys to clothes. Especially if a little princess is growing up in the family, because the desire to dress beautifully is inherent in the female nature from birth. Therefore, today we will look at how to sew a beautiful, bright coat for your fashionista. Of course, such clothes are not very suitable for spring walks through puddles or digging in the sand, but they look great when walking in the park or attending various social events. The pattern for creating a stylish coat for a girl can be completely different - try to dream up!

Sewing almost any clothing, including a coat, begins with a basic pattern. Let's take a step-by-step look at how to build a pattern-base for a children's coat.

Learning to build a pattern-base for a coat for a girl

Measurements required to build a pattern for a children's coat:
  1. Coat length.
  2. Back width.
  3. Chest circumference.
  4. Neck circumference.
  5. The length of the sleeve.
  6. Hand girth.
  7. Fist girth.
Stage 1.Building a pattern for a back part.

On the left side of the sheet, we build a right angle with the apex at point A. Down from point A, along a vertical line, set aside a value equal to the length of the coat by the measure + 1cm. We put point B, and from it we draw a horizontal line to the right. Then again, from point A downwards, we set aside a segment equal to 1/3 of the circumference of the neck + 2cm, set point C and draw a horizontal line from it to the right - this line is the line of the width of the back.

We decorate the neckline.
From point A, we put 1 cm down and put a point, and to the right a segment equal to 1/6 of the neck circumference + 0.5 cm and also put a point. With the help of a piece, we connect these points and get a neck cut.

From point C to the right we measure a segment equal to 1/2 of the width of the back + 1 cm and put the letter D, from it we build a perpendicular with a dotted line upwards until it intersects with horizontal A. along this dotted line from horizontal A down we measure 3 cm and put point E. connect point E with the cut-out point of the neckline located on the horizontal A, an oblique line, which we continue by 1 cm beyond the point E and set the point E1
We form the line of the side cut.
From point C to the right in a straight line, set aside a segment equal to 1/4 of the circumference of the chest + 2cm and set point D1, from it we draw a perpendicular downward with a dotted line until it intersects with horizontal B. From point D1 downward along the perpendicular we set a segment equal to 1/6 of the circumference of the neck and set a point F, which shows the depth of the armhole. Continue horizontal B to the right beyond the dotted line by 6 - 8 cm and put point G. Connect points F and G and get a line of the side cut of the coat.
We draw up the armhole line.
We connect points E1 with point F through point D with a smooth line using a piece.
Draw the bottom line.

From point G we put off along the side cut up 2 cm and put a point, smoothly connect this point with point B.

We continue straight line B to the left by 3 - 5 cm and set point B1, connect point B1 with the cutout point of the neckline on line AB, we get the line of the middle of the back. When constructing a pattern of a coat of a straight cut, straight AB remains the middle line.

Stage 2. Building a pattern for a shelf part.
On the right side of the sheet, we build a right angle with the apex at point A. from point A horizontally and vertically we draw straight lines - they are auxiliary. Down horizontally, set the measure of the coat length + 3cm and set point B, draw a horizontal line from point B to the left.
Next, point A downward vertically set aside a segment equal to 1/3 of the neck circumference + 3cm, set point C and draw a horizontal line from it to the left.
We decorate the neckline.
We build the width of the neckline in the same way as on the back part, and to build the depth of the neck down from point A, we set aside a segment equal to 1/6 of the neck circumference + 2cm. We put points indicating the width and depth of the neck, and connect them with a smooth line using a piece.
We form the line of the shoulder cut.
To do this, draw an auxiliary dotted line, which starts from the cut line of the neck of the front 4 cm below straight line A. Then, from the point of the neck cut, located on straight line A, set aside a segment equal to the measurement of the shoulder length minus 0.5 cm until it intersects with the dotted line, set point D.
We form the line of the side.
Along the horizontal line C, set aside a value equal to? chest circumference by measure + 4cm and set point E, from it we draw down a perpendicular straight line to straight line B. From point E along this vertical we lay down a segment equal to 1/6 of the neck circumference by measure + 2cm and set point F, which shows the depth of the armhole. Continue straight line B to the left 8 - 10 cm from the auxiliary perpendicular and set point G, connect points F and G of an inclined straight line, getting a side cut line.
We draw up the armhole line.
From point D we lower the perpendicular to the intersection with straight line C, from the resulting point to the right we set aside a segment equal to 1 cm and set point E1, which shows the width of the shelf. We connect points D, E1, F with a smooth line using a piece.
We draw up a rounding line for the bottom.
We set aside from point G up along the side cut line 2.5 cm and smoothly connect this point with point B, line AB is the line of the middle of the shelf.
Stage 3. Building a side cut.

We continue horizontal B and the neckline cut to the right by 5 - 7cm, connect the resulting points with a vertical line indicating the side cut. Then to the left of the side cut along the neckline, set aside a segment equal to 1 cm and set point H, smoothly connect point H with the line of the side cut. Thus, we get a model of a coat with a straight or round collar.

Stage 4. Creation of a pattern of a round collar.
We connect the details of the back and shelves along the line of the shoulder sections, draw a contour on paper along the lines of the neckline and the lines in the middle of the shelves, then remove the patterns of the back and shelves and build a collar within this contour. The cut of the collar stand is formed by the contour line of the neckline cut, located between the middle of the back, which is indicated by the letter A and the middle of the shelf, which is indicated by the letter B.
We draw up the cut line of the collar departure: from point A in the middle of the back, we set aside a segment equal to 5 - 6 cm and set point C. From point C we draw a rounded line parallel to the collar stand to the line of the middle of the shelf and set point D. From point D along the cut line of the collar we measure 2cm and set point D1. We connect points B and D1 with a smooth line and get a rounded end of the collar. If you want to make the ends of the collar straight, then points B and D1 should be connected with an inclined line.
Stage 5. Construction of a sleeve pattern.
We will build the coat sleeve pattern in one grid, since it consists of two parts - the upper, which is larger in size, and the lower, smaller part. To do this, we build a rectangle ABCD, the length of which is equal to the length of the sleeve according to the measure, and the width is 1/3 of the girth of the arm + 2cm.
Divide the straight line AC in half, put the point E and from it we lower the perpendicular to the intersection with the straight line B. From the point A down the vertical set aside a segment equal to the segment AE and set the point F, from it we draw a horizontal line to the intersection with the straight line CD. From point C downward vertically, set aside a segment equal to 1/2 of the AF segment and set point G, draw a horizontal line from it to the left until it intersects with line E. From point A downward vertically, set aside a segment equal to 1/2 of the sleeve length + 3cm and set point H . from point C put down a segment equal to 1/2 of the sleeve length + 4cm and set point I. Connect points H and I with an oblique line.
Design of the upper half of the sleeve.
To form an ridge of the upper part of the sleeve, connect points F and G with a smooth line passing through point E. To form an elbow cut from point I to the left, set aside 1 cm and set point J1. Then, from point B to the right, set aside a segment equal to 2/3 of the girth of the fist + 2cm and set point B1. We connect points B1, J1 and G with oblique lines, getting an elbow cut. Next, we form the lower cut of the sleeve, for this, from point B1 to straight AB we draw a line so that it forms a right angle with line B1J1. We put point K. segment ЛВ1 and is the line of the bottom of the sleeve. From point H horizontally, set aside a segment of 2 cm and put a point through which we draw a curved line from point K to point F.
Design of the lower half of the sleeve.
From point F to the right horizontally, set aside 3 cm and set point F1, from it to the intersection with the bottom line we lower the curved line parallel to FK, we get the front cut of the sleeve. To form an elbow cut from point F1, set aside a segment equal to 1/3 of the arm circumference + 2cm and set point L. Then, from the front cut line along straight line H, set off a segment equal to 1/3 of the arm circumference + 1cm and put the letter M. Along the bottom of the sleeve from of the side cut line of the lower part, set aside a segment equal to 1/3 of the circumference of the fist + 1cm and set point N. Connect points N and M. Connect points M and L with an oblique line, and continue this line until it intersects with straight line G, set point L1. We connect points L1 and F1 with a concave line, deepening it under the line F by 1 cm.

This is how, without much difficulty, you can dress your princess in a new stylish coat or model products of any other style (for example, the same as that of your mother). As an example, check out a few photos of coats for girls of different ages:

We create a stylish coat for a girl for 2-3 years with our own hands

One of the most popular things is a coat. This type of clothing is worn by both adults and children. And by making such a product yourself for your child, you will add originality and individuality to him. Today we suggest you consider a coat pattern for a girl.

A coat for a little girl, sewn by mothers' hands, will be warm and comfortable. In this article, we will present not only a master class on sewing a children's coat, but also various selections of patterns for girls of different ages. The presented patterns can be downloaded, printed and started to sew.

The onset of autumn or spring is just around the corner. This time of the year is expected not only by children, but also by adults. This allows you to take off warm, uncomfortable winter clothes and dress up in a lighter and more vibrant one. In this master class, we suggest you sew a coat for a girl aged 2 years.

So, you need the following material:

  • Reversible fleece fabric. This type of fabric allows you to keep warm very well, unlike wool. It is also a quick-drying option, does not allow moisture to penetrate to the body itself, is easy to wash;
  • Coats decor;
  • Lightning;
  • Lace;
  • Lining fabric;
  • Sewing accessories.

Let's start the sewing process.

Any sewing starts with a pattern. There was no ready-made pattern, but it can be built, and no serious calculations are required. For this, you can use any suitable jacket for the child.

Just do not forget that outerwear should be slightly larger than underwear.

Also, do not forget to leave additional space for processing the seams. Two or three centimeters will be enough. In any case, if your pattern is a little larger, then it's okay. The main thing is that, as a result, the product turns out to be in size, and does not become small. Cut out a paper pattern and apply it to the fabric. Can be chalked or pinned with sewing pins.

We make cutting out products.

Stitching the details at the shoulders.

Then we take the details of the sleeves, fold them in half and sew them with machine stitch along the side seam. Then you need to sew them to the main product.

It is necessary to sew in a single line along the side seam of the product. Here's what you should get. We do all the above steps with the lining fabric. The lining must be made half a centimeter smaller than the main product itself.

Then we make a flared skirt. Cut out the details: two strips ten centimeters wide and twenty three centimeters wide, as shown in the photo. So, the widest strip must be collected and pulled off a little with a thread, as shown in the photo. The length of the large part should match the length of the small one.

Here's how it should work:

From the seamy side, we sew the strips together. Then we sew to the main product as follows: sew the side of a thin strip to the lining fabric, and the wide one to the main product. Then you need to make undercuts to make the coat more fitted. It is recommended to make them from the back, two pieces will be enough.

We turn the sleeves to the wrong side and sew the lining fabric to the fleece, as shown in the photo. At the end of the work, turn it out onto the front side.

Here's what you should get:

We make a pattern for the hood. The easiest way to do this will be with any child's jacket, for example, a windbreaker. We cut out two parts, add one centimeter on each side. Sew a small strip to the inside of the coat, through which we will later thread the lace for adjustment.

Sew the resulting hood to the collar of the product. First we sew to the main fabric, and only then to the lining fabric. Then we make holes for the lace.

You can buy a special device for this, which is sold in fabric stores, or you can make it by hand.

We carefully thread the lace. On the seamy side, we sew the main and lining fabrics together. Then we sew in a zipper.

We decorate the coat with various accessories that you have chosen in advance, based on your taste preferences.

The coat for the girl is completely ready!

Selection of options

For a girl aged 3 years, you can sew any model of a coat. Children at this age are very active, therefore, when choosing a coat pattern, think about whether it will be very convenient for your baby to run and walk in it, it should not hinder movement. Always rely on the pattern when sewing, regardless of the model itself. We offer a selection of coat models and patterns:

For a girl aged 5 years, the coat model should be practical and comfortable. But also warm, which is also an important factor. Clothes should protect the girl from strong winds and sudden changes in temperature. So, another selection:
