Celebration for International Children's Day. International Children's Day. When is the main children's holiday

June 1st - date (when, what date is the holiday)

International Children's Day was initiated and officially established by the Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women in 1949. First celebration children's day was scheduled for June 1, 1950, at that time it was celebrated in 51 countries of the world. The UN reacted positively to the initiative of the founders of the holiday and took an active part in ensuring a safe future for the young generation. In 1959, the countries of the world were offered the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, and in 1989, the UN familiarized states with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In the 21st century, children need protection and support no less than in the post-war years. The purpose of the holiday is to draw attention to the problems of children, especially to children left without parental care and forced to live in dysfunctional families. Organizers festive events are trying on June 1 not only to prepare entertainment and contests for kids, but also to do everything possible so that adults understand that no one else can help children.

Background and history of the holiday

History knows that in 1925, on the very first day of summer, the Consul General of China in San Francisco found the children who had lost their parents, and organized for them National holiday- Duan-wu jie, commonly known as the Dragon Boat Festival. In parallel with this event, the first international conference was held in Geneva on the first day of June, which considered the pressing problems of the well-being of the younger generation. These events contributed to the birth of the idea of a holiday dedicated to children.

The holiday was officially established in the post-war 1949 at the November Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women. The first in world history Children's Day was celebrated on June 1, 1950, events timed to coincide with it were held in 51 countries of the world. The purpose of these events was to draw attention to the non-childish problems of those who cannot stand up for themselves on their own. First of all, the organizers wanted to protect children from hunger and war. At this conference, they vowed to do whatever they could to keep the world at peace.

The UN approved the initiative and made its contribution to the protection of the young generation. In 1959, she drew up the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which includes a number of articles that ensure the legal protection of minors. The Declaration had no legal force, but its recommendations were readily accepted in many states.

30 years later, in November 1989, the UN prepared the Convention on the Rights of the Child - the main document that defines the responsibilities of states towards children. The Supreme Soviet of the USSR ratified convection on July 13, 1990, and on September 15, it entered into force. In total, the document contains 54 articles regulating the rights of children and the responsibilities of adults in relation to them.

International Children's Day is also unique in that it has its own flag. On a lush green background, the planet Earth is depicted, around which there are multi-colored figures symbolizing children holding hands.

Importance of International Children's Day in Russia

In Russia, the holiday continues to be celebrated on a large scale. It has never been and is not a day off, but it is on this day that the favorite time of schoolchildren starts - summer holidays. Sports competitions, contests, concerts, joint film screenings and other entertainment events are traditionally held in schools and preschool childcare facilities.

Following good traditions, children's drawing contests are held in city squares and parks. Just like dozens of years ago, kids paint the sun, a peaceful sky, mom and dad holding hands on the asphalt. Loving parents try to spend this day with their child and give him a festive mood with the help of available entertainment.

Respectable adults gather to address pressing issues, and generous sponsors timed material assistance to the holiday. Special attention assistance is given to orphanages, families with many children, children from disadvantaged families and children suffering from serious illnesses.

Children are looking forward to the beginning of summer. After all, this is not just the arrival of warmth and an opportunity for a great rest, this is a real holiday, since the long-awaited and long vacation has come. But not all babies have such a carefree and joyful life. Thousands of babies suffer from incurable diseases or domestic violence, do not have normal nutrition and living conditions, and some are even forced to look for ways to survive on their own. These and other acute issues of childhood have become problems of a global scale, to which a special holiday is dedicated - Children's Day, which, by the will of fate, coincided with the first day of summer.

They say that the fate of a person is completely in his hands. But there are many aspects that affect how it will turn out adulthood, depend on how childhood was. After all, a baby comes into this world absolutely defenseless and helpless. And only actions, deeds, love of loved ones and those around them make it possible for the baby not only to survive, but also to learn all the joys and sorrows of life. Unfortunately, the children's world is not as carefree as adults would like it to be. It is the versatility of childhood and its pressing problems that became the reason for organizing a holiday dedicated to kids.

history of the holiday

Today, International Children's Day, June 1, is celebrated in many countries. And for the first time it was officially celebrated in 1950, but the history of the holiday begins much earlier. For the first time, issues related to topical problems of childhood were raised by women in 1925 at the World Conference, which was held in Geneva. At the beginning of the century, the public was worried about the problems of street children, orphans, and poor medical care. But the idea did not receive wide public support.

It was for the orphans in San Francisco that the consul from China organized a holiday that went down in history as the festival of floating dragons. This large-scale event took place on June 1. According to one of the versions, it was this event that became decisive when choosing which day to celebrate in the future the holiday of childhood.

The issues of the well-being of children were acutely faced by the public in the post-war years. Therefore, in 1949, the Women's Congress reiterates the idea of establishing a special holiday. At the conference, a unanimous decision was made to direct all efforts to the struggle for peace for the sake of a happy childhood for all children and adolescents of the planet.

And already in 1950 new holiday celebrated in many countries, and on a large scale.

Holiday symbols

The main symbol of the holiday is the green flag. It depicts our planet, on which there are children's figurines of different races and nationalities. They stretch out their hands to each other, symbolizing unity and friendship, as the only opportunity for development and peace.

Holiday symbols

But there are also more specific symbols. So, under the image white flower On June 1, a campaign is held to raise funds for seriously ill children.

And under the symbol in the form of a white lily, actions are held in support of reproductive medicine, which gives a chance to give birth to thousands of babies.

A holiday for every child

The very word holiday is associated with joy, fun, happiness. And, indeed, for many kids, June 1, 2017, will be unforgettable.

But this holiday also has a downside, which is perhaps much more important than the idea of fun itself. The main goal of Children's Day is to draw the attention of the public and ordinary people to real children's problems. This idea is directly present in the name of the holiday. Therefore, it is important to think about what to protect children from.

Sad facts of world statistics:

  • 100 million children do not have the opportunity to study, since there are simply no schools nearby;
  • 15 million children became orphans, having lost one of their parents due to AIDS;
  • 10 million die every year due to lack of access to medical facilities and medicines;
  • 300 thousand - forced to participate in wars, in the most real, and not computer or toy;
  • millions of babies lack shelter and adequate nutrition;

And in developing countries, the practice of exploiting child labor, as a cheap labor force, and even child slavery, have been preserved.

It is this state of affairs in the world that has become the basis for the appearance of some documents, which spell out children's freedoms and rights.

All children's rights and freedoms are reflected in the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1959. This document is a call to recognize the rights of every child and to respect them. It must be strictly observed by parents, community organizations and authorities.

Thirty years later, in 1989, the "Convection for the Rights of the Child" was established, which defines all the rights of small citizens, as well as the responsibilities of adults.

These documents have been ratified in many countries. But this did not solve all children's problems.

Children of Russia

Several organizations in Russia are involved in protecting the rights of minors and helping mothers in difficult situations. First of all, this is the UNICEF Children's Fund, which has been operating since 1997.

At the legislative level, the rights of children are protected by Federal Law No. 124 “On guarantees of the rights of the child in the Russian Federation”. But even the care of the state and public organizations cannot solve all the problems.

Today more than 30 million children live in our country, and only 12% are absolutely healthy. Many are in need of care and costly treatment. Moreover, the problem of psychological health is acute. Aggression, vandalism and suicide are common among toddlers and adolescents.

And how many children are born in Russia with congenital defects through the fault of the parents themselves. The heirs of alcoholics and drug addicts are left without care immediately after birth, having received a whole complex of incurable pathologies as a burden from their parents. And among adolescents, almost half are already addicted to alcohol and drugs.

There are enough problems in relatively prosperous families. First of all, it is lack of attention. The parents' concern lies in material support, and the baby sorely lacks the warmth and affection of loved ones. Teenagers grow up early, receive unnecessary and sometimes dangerous information from the Internet.

In low-income and large families there is an acute issue of material support. Indeed, often in such families, despite all the efforts of caring parents, babies do not have enough basic things, up to nutrition and living conditions.

We can safely say that children's problems concern every adult, regardless of social status, age and material security. Therefore, the children's holiday has become very popular in Russia and is supported by many state and public organizations, as well as simply not indifferent people. Many charity events are timed to coincide with this day.

Traditions: how to organize a children's party

June 1st is a great occasion to organize fun party for kids. As part of the festive events, contests of drawings on the asphalt, exhibitions of children's pictures on the street, festive concerts with the participation of children are held. Kids and teenagers dance, sing songs, recite poetry, take part in competitions.

To organize a children's party, you can use our ideas for contests. The following games and contests are suitable:

  • theatrical performance of a fairy tale;
  • competition ;
  • the game ;
  • competition ;
  • team relay;
  • competition ;
  • entertainment for the relay;
  • competition .

In addition, we suggest adding dance and children's songs to the program.

Songs for the holiday

When celebrated children's party, you can not do without perky and cheerful music. Our selection of songs about childhood and just funny melodies will help to make the holiday unforgettable:

We are little children, we want to walk

Chung-Chang childhood island

Congratulations to children in poetry and prose

On Children's Day, create a festive mood for your little ones. Let them laugh and enjoy life, catch sun bunnies and do what they love. With your family and friends, create a real fun holiday with games, entertainment and congratulate all the kids. Do not forget about those crumbs that are devoid of care. Let this day become unforgettable for them, filled with festive joys.

Every kid has every right to a childhood, a carefree and happy time. And it only depends on adults what it will be like. After all, all babies are vulnerable and defenseless. On Children's Day, I want so much that all, without exception, kids feel love, need and protection. And so that they never face indifference, cruelty, early growing up and unnecessary information flow. Let troubles and wars, diseases and anxieties pass them by.

On this warm summer day

When the breeze whispers

You need to warm everyone

Boys and girls.

Let their smiles shine

And spread through the laughter

Shouts and cries of happiness

We love them all very much.

Children are our treasure

Our heart and joy

This is our pride, joy,

Happiness and more reward.

On the day when protection is needed

I sincerely wish

So that the kids sleep soundly

And, of course, they didn’t get sick.

To smile at the sun

And they did not know troubles, worries.

To grow up happily

Easy is always dear to them.

Larisa, 11 May 2017.

Children's Day, which falls on the first day of summer, is one of the oldest international holidays, celebrated around the world since 1950. The decision to hold it was taken by the International Democratic Federation of Women at a special session in November 1949. The UN supported this initiative and declared the protection of the rights, life and health of children one of the priority areas of its activities.

International Children's Day is, first of all, a reminder to adults of the need to respect children's rights to life, to freedom of opinion and religion, to education, rest and leisure, to protection from physical and psychological violence, to protection from exploitation of child labor as necessary conditions to form a humane and just society.

In 1959, the UN adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which included articles urging parents, state bodies, local authorities and governments, non-governmental organizations to recognize the rights and freedoms of children set forth in them and strive to observe them. The Declaration was only advisory in nature and was not binding.

The first and main international legal document in which the rights of the child were considered at the level of international law was the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations on November 20, 1989. The Convention was signed by 61 countries, on July 13, 1990 the Convention was ratified by the USSR.

Children make up approximately 20-25% of the population in each country. V different countries they are exposed to different dangers from which they need to be protected: in developed countries, these are the negative consequences of addiction to television and computers (serious studies have shown that children tend to copy in life those violent actions that they see on the screen or during computer games), in Western Europe they are concerned about the too early sexual development of children, in Japan the main danger is seen in the destruction of traditional methods of upbringing and the increasingly widespread penetration of Western habits and forms of behavior, in the least developed countries of Africa and Asia, children are threatened by hunger, AIDS, illiteracy and military conflicts ...

According to the statistical collection "Children in Russia" published in 2010, there are more than 26 million minors in our country. Annually child population Russia is decreasing by 1 million people, and the number of children left without parental care and in orphanages is growing by 4-6 thousand people a year. The total number of orphans and children left without parental care is about 714 thousand people, of which more than 136 thousand are brought up in boarding schools.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Development at the end of 2010, almost 18.5 million children (or 71% of the total number of children) attend preschool and general education institutions, spending most of their active time there.

In 2010, according to official data, 20.7% of schoolchildren had the first health group, the second health group - 59.2%, and 18.3% - the third health group, i.e. chronic diseases, the fourth and fifth health groups (disabling diseases) had 1.8% of children. There is an increase in the number of children who graduate from school with a decrease in hearing acuity by 44%, with a decrease in visual acuity by 2.7 times, with poor posture by 45%, with scoliosis by 5.7 times.

According to the report of Pavel Astakhov, the Presidential Commissioner for the Rights of the Child of the Russian Federation, the unfavorable dynamics of the growth in the number of sexual crimes committed against minors and young children remains. In 2010, according to official data alone, more than 9.5 thousand crimes were committed against the sexual inviolability of children.

Children's rights in Russia are protected by the Federal Law "On Basic Guarantees of Children's Rights in the Russian Federation" of July 24, 1998. The law establishes the basic guarantees of the rights and legitimate interests of the child, provided for by the Constitution of the Russian Federation. The state recognizes childhood as an important stage in human life and proceeds from the principles of the priority of preparing children for a full life in society, developing socially significant and creative activity in them, fostering high moral qualities, patriotism and citizenship in them.
