When the ends of the wire appear with seamy side, fold them up and hide them back in the moss. Vary the angle of the buds so that they look natural, but at the same time add volume. At this stage, it is convenient to work like this: put the wreath on the table so that the edge of the product is in the air. Hold the wreath with one hand, decorate with the other, gradually rotating it.

  • Attach bunches of tinted twigs, balls, bells, and other decorative items you can find.

Christmas and New Year's wreaths, along with a decorated Christmas tree, are symbols of the upcoming holidays. The custom to create such compositions came to us from Europe, today in our country such decoration does not surprise at all, but, on the contrary, disposes to the New Year mood. How to make a New Year's wreath with your own hands - we will tell in detailed master class with beautiful photos of the process, we will throw in a few ideas and give practical recommendations.

A bit of history

Christmas wreaths originate in Hamburg in the Middle Ages of the last millennium. The Lutheran theologian Johann Hinrich Wiecher, who took up several children from very poor families, came up with a kind of "waiting calendar" for Christmas. It was an old wheel, which the priest decorated with coniferous branches, and put candles to it: 19 small red ones and 4 white ones. Their number showed which day before the holiday is now and how much is left. Every day Johann and his children lit one red candle, and on Sundays - one white. This way the guys could easily endure the anticipation of the holiday.

Today, a wreath of coniferous branches in Russia is associated only with the New Year, the symbol of Christmas is still characteristic of the Catholic Church.

Wreath symbolism:

  • The circle with candles is associated with the Earth and the four cardinal points.
  • The circle itself is the infinity of life.
  • The green color of evergreen needles is a symbol of all living things.

Candles in Christmas wreaths fill the house with light, much like the world is illuminated at Christmas time.

You can buy a traditional New Year's wreath made of cones and branches in the store, but will it be so symbolic and attractive? Oddly enough, such a souvenir rarely has a pre-holiday magic, such are purchased for offices and places far from home. Even in an age of high pace of life, most people find a couple of hours to make a Christmas wreath with their own hands. It is not difficult at all, it is fascinating and it means that such decoration is much more than just a symbol.

Wreaths of cones and needles are traditionally placed on:

  • At the front door;
  • Over fireplaces;
  • On the table as a table decoration.

Accordingly, the design and method of attaching toys, jewelry and accessories will differ.

To clearly show that making a Christmas wreath with your own hands is not difficult at all, the designers made a fascinating master class with a photo so that everyone could try to create their own New Year's decoration, while enjoying the process and the result. So, a New Year's wreath: mk with step-by-step instructions.

Master class from creative designers

How many variations of decor come up with bright heads of designers, and the basis always remains traditional - green branches of conifers. You can decorate a spruce wreath with anything:

  • Christmas balls;
  • Tinsel;
  • Cones;
  • Felt toys;
  • Beads;
  • Feathers;
  • Beads and so on, just not to list.

Our artists came up with a few ideas:

  1. Christmas wreath of cones and oranges;
  2. A wreath with cotton cobs, feathers and New Year's toys;
  3. And there are many more interesting combinations that you will see below.

What do we need

So, what we needed to create Christmas and New Year's wreaths:

  • Spruce, pine, fir branches. They can be collected in a forest belt or in a park. Choose beautiful young branches with good uniform needles, it should withstand a month and a half in excellent condition. Of course, you can use artificial needles, but the effect will not be the same, and there will be no smell from this, and this is an almost obligatory wish;
  • Spruce cones. You can take cedar, pine, or whatever you like. Try to choose fresh ones - old ones quickly crumble in a dry and warm room;
  • Multi-colored Christmas balls. Take those that you do not plan to hang on the tree, so you can also save money. Choose small toys to be placed on the branches themselves; you can take a larger ball for suspension;

  • Colored bird feathers are sold in decorative and hand-made stores, we have taken several varieties;

  • Satin ribbons for bows;
  • Rowan twigs with berries are an unusual solution, but organically fit into the theme of a real winter tree.

Do not be afraid to use food for work - gingerbread, candy, fruits. The main thing is not to take perishable ones and keep track of their expiration date.

  • The highlight of the program is orange rings. They will add brightness and scent to the finished jewelry. The smell of citrus and pine needles in the aggregate is associated with any person with the winter holidays.
  • Tools: scissors, pruning shears, ropes, hot glue with a gun.

  • The basis for the New Year's wreath is a cut out circle made of thick cardboard. You can use newspapers, a hoop, a piece of a wide pipe - any round product.

Sequence

Now we will tell you how to make a wreath on the door with your own hands in stages, because one of the components of successful work is the correct organization of the work process.

Stage 1: preparing the base

This is the most crucial step, on the implementation of which the quality of the finished wreath and its strength depend. We took thick cardboard, cut out round blanks from it with a diameter of 30 cm from the outside and 25 cm from the inside. The width of the wheel turned out to be 5 cm. We wrapped the workpiece with a wide ribbon of gold color - this solution will allow you to conveniently attach the branches and decor, and random gaps through the needles will not be striking as something unfinished.

Instead of cardboard, a wreath of newspaper tubes at the base also keeps its shape well. Creative minds even manage to create an independent composition by twisting the sheets of the old press into cones and tubes, securing them to the base. But this is not our case.

Stage 2: fixing the branches

It's easy to attach twigs on your own:

  1. Insert them into the tape pockets at the base of the workpiece and tie them with a thread;

  1. Interlace with other twigs;
  2. Staple brackets or wire are suitable for fastening.

Prepare the branches in advance: cut off excess shoots and shorten the main one to the desired length. Work through the entire perimeter of the ring.

Let some branches be with their own cones, this will facilitate the decorating process.

Stage 3: decoration

This stage is the most creative and interesting. Here we turn on all our imagination and create.

We used cotton cobs for decoration - the natural theme is always relevant, and such an unusual solution will definitely transform a hand-made wreath.

Imagine the look of your product in advance and choose matching items for decor. Let them be unexpected, then there should not be many of them.

Until the branches are covered with decor, reinforce them with a thin thread: it will pull the greenery to the base and visually decorate the product.

If your hand reaches for rowan branches - do not deny yourself... Fortunately, they can be collected before deep frosts.

Cut the harvested branches with pruning shears to the desired length, remove the ugly and spoiled berries. Insert the branches into the pockets of the workpiece and tie them up like spruce.

Now we attach delicious material - orange slices. It is better to fix them to the composition using ordinary threads - the staples will tear the delicate structure, and the glue simply will not grab with the liquid juice. A fragrant reminder for the new year and a simultaneous memory of a sunny summer.

The feathers are best fixed with hot glue. Why hot? - it instantly grasps and you don't have to wait long for drying. In addition, it is colorless and will not make itself felt.

Decorating a wreath with your own hands with Christmas balls is as exciting as decorating a Christmas tree. We placed small balls in the same scale on the branches. It is better to fasten them with threads using a crochet hook through the branches.

Well, what about without various trinkets and toys?

A Christmas wreath on the door may contain a reminder of winter and snow. For this we use "liquid snow" in the form of an aerosol. With its help, we apply frost to the tips of the needles.

Making a New Year's wreath cannot be put into one framework - there are as many solutions as there are hands to make this symbolic accessory.

One of the examples of what we got.

More ideas

It is not at all necessary to make a Christmas and New Year's wreath from living branches, you can make a composition from any materials for needlework:

  • Felt wreath;

  • Beaded wreath;

  • Paper wreath;

  • New Year's wreath from tinsel.

The choice of material is limited only by the scope of imagination.

The video reflects the process of work, which is very easy to repeat.

Any holiday, and even more so New Year and Christmas, require careful preparation. This is not only buying gifts for family and friends, a festive feast and a Christmas tree with a bright garland. You need to create a festive atmosphere in your home and . And for this, we begin to decorate our home from the very doorstep. Today we will make a New Year's wreath with our own hands. And what happens, we will definitely attach it to the front door. And then decide for yourself whether from the outside or from the inside!

First you need to think about which materials your New Year's wreath will be made. Believe me, the choice can be quite wide. Namely:

  • traditional wreath of thuja branches or conifers with the addition of various decorations
  • from natural cones
  • from Christmas toys
  • from tinsel
  • organza
  • from artificial materials imitating the branches of coniferous trees
  • from feathers!

This article will consider options for making a festive wreath from all of the above materials.

You need to start making a festive wreath from natural branches of conifers with the preparation of everyone necessary materials and tools. A tools you need simple ones:

  • scissors
  • wire cutters
  • glue gun and glue sticks

From the materials you may need:

  • branches of a thuja or coniferous tree - spruce, pine, cedar
  • base for the wreath
  • strong and not too thin threads or twine
  • thin well bendable wire
  • glue "Moment Crystal"
  • Christmas decorations
  • serpentine and tinsel
  • gift paper and gift bows
  • organza
  • feather boa

Making a wreath is impossible without a base on which it will be attached. Therefore, first of all, we choose her in order to form a New Year's wreath. What basis to choose for your craft, read

When the basis for the New Year's wreath has already been chosen, we begin to make the wreath itself. To do this, take one or two small branches of thuja or ephedra and fasten them tightly to the base. We fasten the thread so that it does not unwind. Next, we successively apply the following branches and fix it again. And so we move over the entire surface of the base until it is all covered with branches and a wreath is obtained.

The size of the wreath directly depends on the size of the base. For a wreath made from natural coniferous branches, choose a solid base, as the weight of the wreath is impressive.

Such wreaths made of natural materials can be decorated with cones and brushes of autumn berries: viburnum, black and red mountain ash. Of course, such a wreath will not last long: the berries will wither and wrinkle, and the needles will begin to crumble. Therefore, if you want the New Year's wreath to be more durable, replace natural ingredients with artificial ones.

Artificial elements often look just as good as natural ones.

How to make a wreath of pine or cedar branches, see this video.

Needless to say, now everything can be bought in stores. But a hand-made wreath will still be better, even if you inexperience make it slightly "disheveled". Handmade in such things is always highly regarded.

Of course, you often want to decorate the New Year's wreath with everyone at once. But don't be too zealous. There should be a measure in everything. Choose something from your existing home:

  • small Christmas decorations
  • small "gifts" made of foil
  • bumps
  • bows
  • ribbons
  • artificial flowers
  • nuts
  • candy and so on ...

Decorating a wreath with cones is a simple, affordable and, perhaps, the right option. If you took natural branches for the wreath, then cones and matting are what you need for decoration.

Natural cones also make very beautiful Christmas wreaths. To make them, you will need mainly pine cones. But spruce and smaller alder ones will not be superfluous.

Watch a master class in this video and you can easily make a wreath of cones with your own hands.

If there is no time or desire to make the wreath voluminous and large, make a simple option - stick the cones in one row on a cardboard hoop, add some decorations. It will turn out to be quite a pretty wreath.

In my opinion, of course, the most beautiful New Year's wreaths are obtained from cones with the addition of berry twigs.

If you want something unusual, paint the spruce branches and cones in the color you like with spray paint. For example, blue.

Silver color has always been the embodiment of crisp snow in the frost, fresh air and winter holiday... Nothing changed! Everything continues!

Another video on this topic.

A wreath of coniferous or thuja branches can decorate not only a door or a wall, but also a chandelier!

In addition to the New Year's wreath from coniferous cones or branches, you can quickly make a wreath of organza and Christmas balls. To do this, take the organza you will tie to, and simply tie large bows around it. Organza is a rather tough material and holds its shape well. Bright balls can be glued or tied to the base of the wreath.

Imagine and come up with a look his new year wreath. Decorate it with something unusual like pretty feathers!

If you do not use natural materials in an organza wreath, then the wreath can decorate your home for a long time.

And this one " Santa Claus»Doesn't it cheer you up?

They look elegant and at the same time spectacular feather wreaths. For their manufacture, they use ready-made feather scarves (they are also called boas) and Christmas balls.

New Year's feather wreaths are something romantic and delightful at the same time. Suitable for dreamy and pure natures.

All this is good when you can buy what you need in stores for the holidays. But it's another matter when you want to do something like that (and maybe even better) with your own hands. In preparation for the holidays, a pre-holiday mood settles in the house, the very atmosphere of the house is created where you want to return. If you felt in yourself a craving for creativity precisely on New Year's Eve, do not suppress this impulse in yourself, but give the opportunity to translate this desire into something significant. For example, do it yourself Christmas wreath of Christmas decorations .

You can probably imagine how many different compositions can be assembled from Christmas balls! But it can be a wreath of the most different toys that are at home. And you can only collect cold (or warm) shades for your craft.

To make a wreath from Christmas decorations, you can use any and stick balls or icicles on it. And you can string as many toys on a strong wire as will fit on it. And to make the wreath more voluminous, glue the rest of the balls with hot glue.

Tinsel wreath can be crafted pretty quickly. We wrap the foam or cardboard base with tinsel and decorate with a Christmas poinsettia flower. Add figures and beads that can be found at home.

A tinsel wreath does not require a strong and reliable frame. A simple cardboard hoop will be enough.

Use the advice of those who have already made Christmas wreaths with their own hands.

It's December - which means that pre-new year mood has already captured everyone who expects magic and joyful events in winter. In order to fill everything around with the spirit of the holiday, everyone seeks to surround themselves, one of which is a Christmas wreath.

How did the tradition of decorating a house with wreaths come about?

Decorating your home this way is enough ancient tradition that came from Western countries. It is worth noting that Christmas wreaths on Russian doors looked quite exotic until quite recently.

The idea of creation belongs to Johann Wiechern, who lived in Hamburg. He was wealthy enough that he could afford to help orphans. The kids were looking forward to Christmas and constantly asked their caregiver when it would come. Then Johann decided to present them with a small gift - taking an old wheel from a cart and placing 16 candles on it, he hung it on the door. 12 candles were red and not very large, and the other 4 were much larger and white... Every morning Johann, together with the little ones, lit one red candle, and on Sunday one white one lit up. It turned out to be a kind of calendar, which made it possible to count down the time until the long-awaited holiday.

Wreath- It is not simple symbol of Christmas and New Year, it is also a kind of amulet for the house, which protects all its inhabitants, brings happiness and prosperity. Round shape the wreath symbolizes endless life, green color- good health, and small candles personify the warmth of the family hearth.

How to make a frame for a wreath?

It can serve as a basis tree or metal wire, as well as coniferous twigs and even paper. The strength of the entire structure and its durability depend on the choice of the base. So, the classic base can be straw, grapevine, willow twigs and even rim from the old wheel... If this is not at hand, ordinary metal wire will also be a good basis for Christmas decorations. Another option is unnecessary wires(for example, an old extension cord), which must be twisted tightly together. If you do not know how to make a Christmas wreath with your own hands, the photos will help you understand the basic principle of work.

Small piece of old hose, thick cardboard, and pieces of old newspaper twisted between themselves and fastened with wire, as well as fabric in the form of a roller, filled with cotton wool or padding polyester - all this and much more can serve as an excellent the basis for the Christmas wreath.

How to decorate a Christmas wreath?

For decoration, you can use the classic ones - Christmas balls, tinsel, artificial candles and small figurines of angels.
