Keep in mind that winter clothes for children are already sewn loose enough, taking into account that the mother will put on several blouses, warm pants, etc. on the child. Therefore, if a thing is 2-3 sizes large for a child, he will simply "fly out" of it;
• When choosing outerwear for a child, do not forget about safety requirements and give preference to jackets, sneakers or trousers with reflective particles. Thanks to these reflectors, your little one will be clearly visible even in the dark.

These rules for choosing clothing sizes (table and basic principles) are especially relevant in the case when you buy things over the Internet or, for some reason, cannot take your child with you to the store.

The basic pattern for a boy's trousers is the basic pattern that can be used in the future to model various styles of children's trousers. We recommend that you, for convenience, build the base on graph paper and save without cutting. Transfer the contours of the pattern to tracing paper and only then model the style.

Pattern-base of trousers for a boy of school age(in our case, we use a model for size 36): See:

Measurements required to build a pattern:

1. Pants length on the side 80 cm
2. Semi-waist 34 cm
3. Semi-girth of the hips 38 cm

Building the front half of the pants

Draw a rectangle ABCD.

Pants width. The rectangle lines AB and DC are equal to 25 centimeters (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips by measure plus 6 centimeters for all sizes): 38: 2 + 6 = 25 cm. IMPORTANT! If you want to sew more tight-fitting trousers, the increase in the freedom of fit should be reduced.

Length trousers. The lines of the rectangle AD and BC are equal to 80 cm (the length of the trousers by the measure).

Pants step line. From point A, 21 cm is laid down, point W is put (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips by measure plus 2 centimeters for all sizes): 38: 2 + 2 = 21 cm.
From point Ш to the right, draw a straight line until the intersection with the line ВС, the point of intersection is designated by the letter Ш1.

Pants bow line. From point Ш1 to the left, lay 4 centimeters. From point 4, a straight line is drawn up to the intersection with the line AB and point T. Then, 4 centimeters are laid up from point 4. The bow line is drawn through points T, 4, Ш1.

Pants waistline. From the point T to the left, lay 20 cm and put the point T1 (1/2 of the semicircle of the waist by measure plus 3 cm for the folds for all sizes): 34: 2 + 3 = 20 cm.

Pants knee line. The line Ш1С is divided in half and 6 centimeters are laid up from the dividing point upwards. From point 6 to the left, draw a straight line until the intersection with line AD.

Pants arrow line. Line ШШ1 is divided in half and a straight line is drawn through the division point down to the intersection with the DC line and up to the intersection with the AB line. The point of intersection of the waist line is designated by the letter T2.

Pants bottom line. From point D to the right, lay 3 cm and put a point H. From point C to the left, lay 3 centimeters and put a point H1. Points H and H1 are connected.

Crotch seam of trousers. Points Ш1 and Н1 are connected.

The side seam of the boy's trousers. Points T1, W, H are connected.
Darts or folds at the waist. From point T2 to the right, lay 1.5 centimeters. The T1T2 line is divided in half and 1.5 cm is laid from the dividing point to the right.

Pants cuff. If you want to make a cuff (cuff) on the trousers at the bottom, then from points H and H1 the lines are lengthened down by 6-8 centimeters and connected with a dotted line.

Building the back half of the pants

Draw rectangle ABCD.

Pants width. The rectangle lines AB and DC are equal to 25 cm (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips by measure plus 6 centimeters for all sizes): 38: 2 + 6 = 25 cm.

Length trousers. The lines of the rectangle AD and BC are equal to 80 cm.

The length and width of the stride. From point A, 21 cm is laid down and point W is set (1/2 of the semicircle of the hips by measure plus 2 centimeters for all sizes): 38: 2 + 2 = 21 cm.
From point W draw a line to the right until it intersects with the line BC. The intersection point is designated by the letter Ш1. From point Ш to the left, draw a line with a length of 7.3 cm (1/4 of the distance ШШ1 plus 1 centimeter for all sizes):
25: 4 + 1 = 7.3 cm.

Knee line. The line Ш1С is divided in half and 6 centimeters are laid up from the dividing point upwards. From point 6 to the left, draw a straight line to the intersection with line AD and 3 cm beyond the line.

Pants waistline. From point B to the right, line AB is lengthened arbitrarily. Then the AB line is divided in half and 3 centimeters are laid up from the dividing point upwards. From point 3 to the right to the intersection with the elongated line AB, draw a waist line equal to 17 cm, and set the point T (1/2 waist semicircle by measure): 34: 2 = 17 cm.
The waistline from point 3 to the left is lengthened by 5 cm.
