How to make owl wings for a costume. Owl costume: step by step every detail. Festive t-shirt owl outfit

As a rule, owls are variegated, white-gray-brown in color. Its most important element is its luxurious wings and round, expressive eyes. Any black, white, gray or brown bolero can be taken as the basis for the wings. Carefully wash the patches of the corresponding colors on top of it to get multi-layered, voluminous, fluffy wings. This is a laborious process, but you will amaze everyone at the upcoming masquerade.

If there is no bolero, then sew the base for the wings yourself. To do this, cut a large circle out of the fabric, the radius of which will be slightly larger than the length of your arm from your neck to your fingertips. In this circle, cut out another small circle exactly in the center for your head to go through. The result is a homemade bolero, which we also sew with gray, white, black and brown shreds of fabric.

It looks very impressive when the basis of the owl's costume is ordinary, coarse potato sacks. Sew a bolero and a skirt from them, and on top also wash various shreds, but not only fabric, but also rustling black garbage bags. Then the costume turns out to be even more expressive, due to the fact that it makes rustling sounds when the wing flaps.

In both versions, under the resulting wings, you should wear a turtleneck and leggings, the colors that are present on the shreds of fabric sewn onto the bolero.

We sew a headdress for an owl costume

Now let's get into the headdress. Take an ordinary cap with a visor, wash your eyes over it. An eye can be made from the bottom plastic bottle by painting it with yellow nail polish or acrylic paint with a glossy effect, draw the pupil in the center with black. These eyes can be sewn to the cap using the largest needle. Also, eyes can be sewn from bright yellow fabric, again, not forgetting about the black pupil. The owl's eyes should be very noticeable and expressive. Then ears are sewn to the cap, which are filled with synthpon or any other stuffing inside, because the ears should be standing. After all this, decorate the cap with shreds of fabric in the same way as for the bolero.

You can put on big, big round glasses instead of a cap - they will be eyes. And on the head is a hat with ears, decorated with shreds of fabric.

If you have an old feather pillow lying around in your house, then it will be very useful to you, carefully gut it and decorate the resulting suit with real feathers that can be attached to the fabric with glue.

Dress up as an owl on Halloween or any other children's party!

Despite the fact that the main goal of Halloween participants is to scare each other, we, nevertheless, will try to make our owl not frightening, but funny, because there is too much evil in our world.

Necessary materials:

  • Different colors of felt fabric
  • Ruler
  • Bias tape or narrow tie ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine
  • Plate

Step 1

Let's start sewing the costume with the wings. Take the fabric that will lie on top. Place a plate on the linen to mark the opening for the neck.

Step 2

Now, using a ruler and chalk, draw 40cm straight lines down both sides of the opening. Then close these two lines in zigzags, creating serrated feathers on the owl's wings. In this case, it is not necessary to adhere to symmetry. When the wing template is ready, cut it out.

Step 3

In order to make the second wing (lower), take already ready-made template and spread it over the second piece of felt. Outline the template with chalk, keeping in mind that the bottom of the wings should be an order of magnitude longer. Therefore, focusing on the pattern, lengthen the side and zigzag lines. Then cut the wing out along the outline.

Step 4

Join the upper wing cutout with the lower wing cutout and sew along the neckline. Sew the strings on the back of the wings, on both sides of the neck opening. The wings are ready!

This is how they should look in finished form.

Step 5

Make the feathers on the owl's breast in the form of figurines resembling a cherry leaf, measuring 10x4 cm in two colors. Cut out the shapes from the fabric, and glue them to a regular T-shirt in about 5 rows, alternating color.

Step 6

Now we sew an "owl" headdress. Make a pattern of details on the fabric, as in the image. In this case, a children's garrison cap served as a template. But the size of the middle part had to be changed a little, expanding its front.

Step 7

Sew all three pieces together.

Step 8

Sew on the ties and turn the cap right-side up.

Step 9

    like this owl costume will be able to do it yourself without any step by step wizard classes.

    Take an old T-shirt and either sewing machine or just glue the pieces of owl feather fabric on top of each other. if you decide to glue then choose a special glue for the fabric, sold in any haberdashery.

    And if you need a master class, then here's another option, look here.

    In order to make / sew an owl or eagle owl costume you can use the following idea:

    • put on a festive dress or suit under the bottom
    • sew a cape or just take a white or brown scarf, to which you need to sew rounded teeth made of fabric or paper, it is desirable that the cape be combined with a suit dressed underneath
    • make a mask, you can find a template on the Internet and cut it out of cardboard, and then decorate (you can take the same rounded teeth from paper), or buy a ready-made one
    • you can wear hairpins with feathers on your head, but this is more suitable for girls

    And here are some ideas already implemented for creating festive costume of an owl (eagle owl):

    I'll tell you a very simple master class on creating an owl / owl costume.

    We need fabric in two or three colors. For example, it could be Brown color, black and milky. Or you can use brown fabric, beige and white. Flannel works very well for this purpose. There is a flannel that does not crumble, so we can work with this fabric without using an overlock.

    We will need to use a square for each color. For example, if we are making a costume for a child, then a square meter by a meter will be enough. For an adult, a square is useful for one and a half to one and a half meters.

    It will be necessary to make a circle from the square, then we decorate the circle along the bottom in the form of petals.

    So we do each circle, while each subsequent circle must be reduced slightly in diameter. In the future, when overlapping circles from fabrics of different colors, we will get an excellent result.

    Let's make a cutout in the circles so that we can put the cape over the head.

    There can be as many circles as you like. There are eleven of them in the suit in the picture.

    A black or brown turtleneck, black jeans / trousers / leggings are perfect for such a cape.

    You can sew a hat with ears on your head or make a paper mask.

    For a girl and a boy, a cap of an owl. The hat is knitted and decorated, imitating the eyes and beak of an owl.

    The suit will require brown and beige velvet fabric. A dress with three rows of flounces is sewn for the girl. Wing cut-off sleeves. Insert on the chest. white tights and boots. For a boy, you can sew a shirt and trousers in the same style.

    More details here

    All the suits that I consider to be made with my own hands, I first of all evaluate from the position: how to get by with the least cost of time and money.

    On any gray, brown, beige or black clothes, namely a turtleneck or a T-shirt,

    we sew feather elements, matched by color in one key.

    It looks like this:

To transform a child into a magical creature with the body of a lion, the head and wings of an eagle, you will need:

  • a beige or yellow jacket and pants - this will be the body of a lion;
  • fabric and threads of brown or beige color for the tail;
  • two pieces of felt or fleece for the wings and chest: one lighter, the other dark;
  • cardboard and paints for the mask;
  • glue;
  • stapler.

To make a ponytail, roll the fabric into a tube and glue the edge. Then sew or staple a thread brush suitable color... After that, the tail can be sewn onto the pants.

To make the wings, draw a pattern with sharp, ragged feathers on the paper. Then make two more templates for the other layers, each already the previous one. Transfer the templates to felt, cut out the wings and sew them together, placing the darker fabric between the layers of the lighter one.

Sew the finished wings to the jacket. At the ends, make loops for the fingers so that the child can flap his wings and they are constantly in motion, and not hanging behind his back.

From three layers of fabric, use the same principle to make feathers on the chest.

If you don't want to work with fabric, you can make wings out of cardboard and paper.

Next important point- mask. The photo below shows a variant of a beautiful cardboard griffin mask. Cut out the pieces first and then glue them together and paint.

You will need:

  • wide-brimmed straw hat;
  • fabric glue;
  • stuffing for toys;
  • red and white fabric: for the outer part of the hat, you can use red felt or plain cotton, for the inside, white cotton or crepe is suitable;
  • white lace.

Cut a circle out of the red fabric and sew it to the top of the hat, leaving room for the filler and a hole to push it through. Stuff the hat, spreading the filler evenly until it takes on the shape of the mushroom. Spread the filler evenly inside the mushroom cap, then sew up the hole.

Sew on the inside of the hat with a gathering of white fabric to resemble mushroom plates. Sew several layers of lace next to the head, like a fringe around the leg of the fly agaric.

Despite the fact that the times of the peak popularity of Harry Potter have already passed, the fashion for owls has remained. Plus, the owl is one of the "emblems" of autumn, since autumn is always associated with nostalgia and the beginning of education in schools and universities, which means knowledge and wisdom. Making an owl costume is quite simple, and with one of the options below, you generally only need a few tools at hand, a couple of hours and, by the way, no sewing. In total, here we will consider 2 options: there are different owls, and the ways to make a costume too. Both suits can be made to any size: both for a child and for an adult. First you have to bribe some inexpensive and preferably plain clothes.

Option 1: common brown-black owl.

Prepare in advance:
- brown sweatshirt or top from tracksuit- always with a hood;
- brown sweatpants;
- a lot of felt or felt of 3 shades: brown, yellowish brown, black;
- scissors;
- fabric glue.

1. Cut out the simplest feather shapes from brown and tan felt / felt. Three times less of the same black "feathers". A child will need about 200 tons of feathers (not too large, but not miniature, of course). Increase their number as needed.

Real ones, especially if they are fluffy, feathers that are not difficult to find in a craft store, in this version it is undesirable to use simply because a lot of them are required, and a fluffy creature in the end is unlikely to be mistaken for an owl, rather for some kind of small a bird, a chicken, or even a chicken. Still, the image of a brown owl, it is a little more harsh, brutal, if you like.

2. Choose the size and density of the sweatshirt and trousers, taking into account that 200 felt feathers are still not the lightest load, and loose and / or stretchy fabric or things that are large will necessarily sag unaesthetically with such a weight. If there are no special options, and you have to buy a suit one size larger when you go to the holiday, put a few things under it for density and volume, taking into account the temperature in the place where you are going.

3. Lay the sweatshirt on a table (any flat, hard, wide surface) and start glueing the feathers to it with fabric glue. Start at the very bottom of the jacket and constantly vary the colors of the feathers: brown - tan - brown - reddish brown - black and so on. Be sure to make sure that each new row of feathers that goes higher covers about 2/3 the bottom row - this is the only way that an owl will be recognized in you later.

4. Glue feathers to the sleeves up to the upper arms, starting from the bottom and working towards the shoulders.

5. Cut two circles out of the dark brown felt, each approximately 7.5 cm in diameter. Cut two circles out of lighter brown felt, but about 5 cm in diameter. Finally, out of black felt, cut 2 x 1-inch circles.

6. Make owl eyes by superimposing circles and gluing, starting with the largest and then decreasing to black at the top. Glue the eyes to the hood.

Option 2: snowy owl.

This costume is more complicated, but snowy owls always look more spectacular.

Prepare:
- again a sweatshirt with a hood, but already white;
- similar trousers, but also white, or gray, gray-black;
- feather boa - white or with light interspersed with gray / black;
- a tailor's measuring tape or any of its analogs, up to a tape measure with a soft plastic tape;
- assistant (it will be difficult to take measurements alone);
- mask;
- paints;
- scissors;
- threads and needles;
- feathers;
- fabric glue;
- fabric: felt, fleece.

1. Take a white sweatshirt (white-gray-black) with a hood and white or gray (or with a gray / black pattern) pants as the basis of the suit. For size and other nuances, see item 2 of the first option.

2. Measure the circumference of the open throat and the front perimeter of the hood of the sweatshirt.

3. Cut this length from the boa.

4. Thread the needle with white cotton-coated polyester thread (ideal for all purposes).

5. To the edge of the hood and open throat, sew the cut off section with a zigzag stitch: push the needle through the fabric from the back of the hood / throat from the edge, pull out from the outside, overlap the thread over the boa from above, and insert the needle again from the back of the edge of the hood. And so from the middle of the throat in front, through the front of the hood and again to the middle of the throat on the other side.

6. Measure the circumference of the bottom of the sleeves of the sweatshirt and the circumference of the bottom of the pants.

7. Cut 4 matching pieces of the boa.

8. Using the same seam, sew the boa along the very bottom of the legs and sleeves. If there are no problems with buying several boas, you can sew such pieces of it in circles one above the other: this will look more like fluffy owl legs. On the arms and legs, pieces of boa can always be replaced with white / white-black fluffy feathers, it's just that this option is more labor-intensive.

9. This item is optional, but here you can, just like in the first version of the suit, sew / glue white / white-gray-black felt feathers for complete authenticity.

10. Take the simplest white mask only for the eyes (you can sew it yourself without any problems - as in the picture, only white) and paint or, for example, with an indelible marker, draw a black strip in the nose area, which will be designed to indicate the beak of a snowy owl. Let the paint dry.

11. Turn the mask with the back facing you. Glue white fluffy feathers on top and bottom around the perimeter so that they stick out in different directions. So that the tips of the feathers do not hurt you and do not interfere, cut out from white felt (or any fairly dense fabric), for example, a mask of the same size as the inside of the first one, and stick it on the feathers. Let the glue dry.

12. From here on, perform if you missed step 9. Call the assistant. Stand up straight with your arms out to the sides straight. Have a helper measure the length diagonally from each palm to the waist. Take your measurement from the back, but from the wrist to the wrist through the back.

13. Cut a rectangle out of the snow-white (or gray-black fleece) fleece. One side of it should be equal to the length of your arms (from hand to hand), the other - diagonally from the palms to the waist.

14. Sew the fleece to the sweatshirt. It is best to use a basting stitch here to attach the fleece to the jacket across the back from above and to the tops of the sleeves (at the shoulders).

15. Cut the fleece from the bottom into strips that are 2.5 cm wide and 15.2 cm long to simulate wings and feathers.

16. Glue or sew on white or black / gray / white feathers to the fleece. Cover as much of the fabric surface as you can.

17. When you are going to put on a suit, it is best to complement it with gray / black pumps / flat boots and wrap the rest of the boa around your neck (under the hood).
